I hope everyone is ready for Communique #146. It will blow. your. mind.
And it is based on an old scenario. Not from Captain's Log, but from Nexus.

One minor update on the playtest rules presented in Communique 146:
Rule (5Z2) says the disruptor can be held. But, (4D2b) says that a disruptor is only armed at the point of fire. Which doesn't fit. To square the circle, an unfired disruptor on an X-ship may also be armed in step (1E3a) at the end of the turn. If so charged, it must be held on the following turn, or it is discharged and all of that energy is lost.

Playing the Scenario in a just few minutes from now.
Does this all mean an X-Ships expansion is coming soon?

An X-ships expansion was always going to come. This single ship preview does not mean it will be coming any faster or slower.
In other words, no promises. Enjoy the ship.

We have three expansions cooking: Gunboats Attack, Fighters Attack, X-Ships Attack.
We're considering three different scenarios for releasing them. When we pick one, I'll let you know.

Cool guys, can't wait for news! All three of those products sound like a sure purchase for me.
As far as the X-Ship scenario went, it was pretty fun! The ships basically played chicken with each other (not great tactics I know, but we were Roleplaying a bit that the Carolina wouldn't be threatened by the Frigate.) They both let loose alpha strikes, which went worse for the Frigate. However, the Carolina was then out if weapons for the turn. Both ships were without forward shields, and the Vandal performed a high energy turn and fired 4 phasers through the down shields.
Both ships were forced to disengage, as the Vandal had heavy damage to power systems, and the Carolina had heavy damage to weapons.
Fun times!
