Cloaking Device: Questions on +4 range, 50% damage effects

I haven't used Romulan in a long time, and that was SFB, not FC, so I have a few questions about the cloaking device.

1. With the +4 range that direct-fire weapons face, does this mean that overloads can only target the cloaked vessel to an effective true range of 4 hexes (since it is modified to 8 hexes)?

2. Is the 50% (round down) damage adjustment applied per weapon or per volley? For example, if a ship at effective range 12 hexes (true range 8 hexes, +4 for cloak )were to hit with 4 disruptors (3 damage each) and 3 phaser-1s (for a lucky 3, 2, and 1 damage from the three), would the cloaked ship take 9 damage (all weapons combined and the total volley reduced by 50%, rounding down) or 6 damage (each weapon's damage reduced by 50%, rounding down then totaled into a volley)?

1. In SFB, there was the concepts of true range and effective range. In FC, there is only range. So, when firing on a cloaked ship, the attacking ship has to be at range 4 to use overloads.

2. It's done by weapon.

Thank you. A few clarifications with PPD and gatling phasers against cloaked targets.

1.1: The PPD still has to worry about true range 0-3 though, right? EDIT: forget about this one, I found the answer in 5P3f, point #2.

2.1: For the PPD, is each pulse--and even each element of each pulse--halved (rounding down) or is the sum of the pulses of a given weapon summed and then halved (rounding down)? If a PPD hits with 2 pulses doing 1+3+1 per pulse, does this do 0+2+0 total (rounding down each pulse) or 1+3+1 total (rounding down the total of the pulses of each weapon).

2.2: For a gatling phaser firing multiple shots against a cloaked target, is the damage of each shot halved (rounding down), or is the damage of all shots from the same gatling phaser summed and then halved (rounding down). Because a PH-3 never scores above 1 Damage, the former would mean gatling phasers are totally ineffective against cloaked targets while the latter would mean they are merely almost ineffective.

Sorry for the late answer.

But, yes, each weapon "shot" is reduced individually. So, that goes for each Ph-3 firing of a Ph-G and for each component of a PPD. So, anything that spreads out damage in little increments is going to fair badly against an effective cloak.
