page 50, Under "Star Fleet Marines.

Star Fleet Marines is the the armed fighting forces

2x "the"

Thinking period after starships with "marines deal.." as new sentence for clarity.

Maybe:

Al, I thought I saw and saved it, but didn't we have a blank "clean" TPD Character sheet we could print off? It would really help.
I know we can get from here, but wondered if that is what we should be using or if you had other ideas? There are a couple of editable forms as well.

I'm going back through and looking to see if I missed.
Wondering how we could make one of these look more like ADB/Starfleet/PD

I have been focusing on the core rulebook (and all the craziness in my world this past month or so). I have been giving thoughts to the look/layout of the books.

I will go through the existing character sheets and see what I can come up with as an interim sheet.

All ideas and suggestions are welcome and encouraged.

Just thinking that might be good to have while we are playtesting building characters, etc....

I like the look of and feel of.....

http://www.starfleetgames.com/prime/PD2 ... rSheet.pdf

combined with this (but not the hex shapes)
https://www.mongoosepublishing.com/pdf/ ... rSheet.pdf

While the second is the official Trav Character sheet, it just doesn't have PD feel to it, visually.

Something that might useful is a complete example of creating a character from start to finish, to help those new to either RPG or the Trav system see things in action. Just a step by step from start to finish. "during this, I rolled a 4 which means I have this for my character..."

Isn't there one in the MGT core rulebook?

Yes, but since this will be a standalone product, don't we need to create one for this? Was just listing here for reminder.

I'm currently working to create a starship captain.

Where do I come from.?
Q: Any chance to have page numbers referencing world that maybe in the book?

I'm still reading the rest of the chapter.

This is not understand. That short, one line paragraph needs to be pushed onto PAge 5?
Where do I come from.?
Q: Any chance to have page numbers referencing world that maybe in the book?
each species in Ch3 (species) lists the homeworld fore each species. Members of most races (especially from basic Class-M worlds) can be from any similar world. They can also be from asteroids. Similar Planets (like class-m) can have a range of societies from agrarian, to high-technology, industrial, high-populations, etc.

With each hex on the SFU map being 500 parsecs wide (like 1600 light years) there are hundreds if not thousands of systems within a single hex
I'm still reading the rest of the chapter.
Cool.

Something to remember is, for now each chapter starts at page 1, but needs to be taken as part of what all has been supplied thus far.

1st paragraph. Needs the following sentence added.
"Below is a list of background skills you an choose from."

Page 6
2nd paragraph, 2nd line
Need to change iws to is

Planetary military academy
Is this a good usage or would Faction Military Academy be better.?

Page 8
Federation Careers
2nd paragraph, last sentence
It's a bit hard to read. May have to reword it. < I know it means if you take fed academy you have to take a fed afterwards.

Graduation Benefits.
Select three services skills < what are they and where are they listed.

TAS: Any new ruling on if we are using TAS or not.?

Page 48 - 57.
I'm still chewing it over as to what skills and stuff should go where.. This may take me a bit. We may need to look at PD1 or PD20 (not modern) and see how they did them (both of which I do not currently own).

good inputs. Please see below:

1st paragraph. Needs the following sentence added. "Below is a list of background skills you an choose from."
Updated text:

Code: Select all

Federation Academies
As with the other pre-career education opportunities, characters must apply for acceptance. The three Federation Academies are: Star Fleet (the 'naval' side of Federation service), Star Fleet Marines (the more ground focused side), and Federation Merchant Marine Service. Characters decide which academy they wish to serve in before rolling for entry.
Upon entry into one of these academies, the character has a commitment to serve at least one term in the career connected to the academy they entered.

With successful graduation, characters become officers on active duty in the service for that academy commissioned as an O-1. Failing to graduate mandates a term in that service as an E-1, unless they rolled a 2 or less for graduation, then they are barred from entering their service for their next term.
Planetary military academy
Is this a good usage or would Faction Military Academy be better.?
Faction = Empire?
GM's can adapt the Federation academies listed in the TPD Core RB to other empires (the three empire books are on the agenda to be done). Think of 'Federation' careers as 'United States' careers, and then the Planetary like the National Guard/Air National Guard etc for each state in the US.
Graduation Benefits.
Select three services skills < what are they and where are they listed.
If you look at the careers, each has a table labeled "Service Skills". I know the five Federation specific careers don't have anything in their skill tables, but the other 14 careers do. I've changed the text to:

Code: Select all

Graduation Benefits
- Select any three skills from the Service Skills table of your career for your academy and increase them to Level 1.
- Increase EDU by an additional +1
Graduating with Honors
- The character receives one additional benefit roll when mustering out.
TAS: Any new ruling on if we are using TAS or not.?
I've been talking with Jean and Steve Cole (SVC) about this. I needed to know how is civilian travel handled. Information on this comes from both PD core and PD: Federation. We have an answer we (I) just need to come up with a name for it. The solution is similar to TAS, but won't work quite the same way.
Page 48 - 57.
I'm still chewing it over as to what skills and stuff should go where.. This may take me a bit. We may need to look at PD1 or PD20 (not modern) and see how they did them (both of which I do not currently own).
Skills I've got covered, I went through the templates in GPD to compile what skills each uses/trains in. These were converted to our list of skills (chapter 4).

What we need are events for the tables (Career Mishap, Career Events, and Life events) that are less generic and have more of a SFU flavor as well flavored for each career.

Events During Pre-Career Education
*In regards to PSI, I'm wondering how wide spread this would be. Maybe if Vulan or 1/2 Vulan Heritage.

Events during Academy
*How about something caught cheating
