What's the difference between the Outbox and Sent Messages?

Post by Captain Nebula »

Could someone please tell me what the difference is between the Outbox folder and the Sent Messages folder in Private Messages?

I've got 3 messages in Outbox and I'm wondering if the people I sent them to every got them.

Does anyone know?

Copilot AI tells me:

Outbox

- Stores PMs that you have sent but the recipient has not yet opened.

- As long as a message is in your Outbox, you can usually:

-- Edit it

-- Delete it

-- Retract it before the other person reads it

This is intentional: the system treats “delivery” as “recipient opened it,” not “sender pressed send.”

Sent Messages

- A PM moves here only after the recipient opens or deletes it.

- Once it appears in Sent:

-- You cannot edit or retract it anymore.

-- It serves as confirmation that the message was successfully received (i.e., accessed) by the other user.
