A few things that have been on my workbench in the past few weeks. I’ll post some updates once I get a second to take a few more pics, and finish applying decals to another 9 ships, but here’s a quick preview.

I’ve been kicking this one around ever since I saw the remastered TOS episode “The Menagerie in the theatre last November. That and the remastered episode “Where No Man Has Gone Before were my inspiration for this guy—non-glowing nacelles, spikes and rear grills.

Since then, I’ve modified it (after putting it in simple green loosened the putty and had to be redone) by removing two of the saucer torpedoes, the rear phasers, adding cooling units to the engines and adding the buildup between the nacelles. I’m really getting to like how this one turned out. I wasn’t always enamored with it, but it’s really grown on me lately.

And the latest efforts in kitbashing. A Federation Advanced Destroyer based on the official drawing in Module X1 by ADB. Like most of my kitbashes, this one is made form a Zocchi Tug saucer and then just cheap parts (putty, plastic tubing and plastic card).

The USS Alliance.

Being the dork that I am (a graduate student), I actually measured the picture and the parts I had and scaled up the custom parts to get all the proportions correct.

Paul -

Great work. Nice and clean.

I particularly like the gray saucer arcs/flashes on the Oriskany. I've been planning something similar for my two old Zochi plastic CA's (to have them be the old Republic and Reshadje) - I have my decals for that made, just haven't applied them yet. I agree with you that the older "pilot episode" markings make a great way to have some different-looking CA minis on the board.

The Revolution looks very smart. I like what you did with the markings on the lower saucer. Very Star Trek - Phase 2 and quite in keeping with the X-ship motif.

You did some really very nice putty and fabrication work on that DDX. Pretty much nailed the proportions you were trying to match and super clean and straight on everything. Those nacelles are really nicely done. I'm impressed!

I love all the ships. Alliance in particular looks so compact but dangerous... can't wait to see it painted. :D

The engines look really good on the USS Oriskany. Good job on all three of them. Can't wait to see the USS Alliance done.

Well, since everyone wanted to see the USS Alliance when it was done, here's an update.

I'll try to get some closer pics up soon. my camera was having trouble getting clear close ups, since there was a lack of natural light (cloudy outside).

Nice job!

I really like the stripes on the pylons.

The lower hull gives it the "TOS remastered" look.

You should have posted a warning sign, because it looks so deadly.

Again, great super-clean work.
I also like the stripes on the engine struts - not something I would've thought to do, but it looks really nice on that mini.

I also like the way you make your phasers blue. I'll stick with traditional gray for mine, but they stand out more the way you are doing them.
