Thanks SPP. I just wanted to varify that. Sorry I didn't figure that on my own. It's kinda easy to miss somethings here and there on the BBS, checking in before and after work.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, May 23, 2005 - 10:38 am: Edit

Michael C. Grafton:

Given that we have not heard from Alex Chobot, that pretty much makes you the ranking infantry guy. So for simplicity's sake, I have been assuming that you have overall control of infantry movements. Although you ought to try to keep the personnas separate, and perhaps delegate some leadership functions to Lt Trauger.

By Jeff Wile (Jswile) on Monday, May 23, 2005 - 07:00 pm: Edit

Col. Knight: Yes sir.

"Major Wile, go ahead an get someone at each base to keep the people informed. Inform them no one is allowed in until bombardment in iminant but that those who go to the shelters via truck and transporter have the best chance of survival. Anyone who uses a weapon will be imediatly fired upon (use maximum stun though)."

SPP: Unless there is another (better way) than my individually contacting an individual at each ground base of the 429th PDU... I delegate Col Knights orders to the various CO's of the bases affected (the 3 phaser 4 bases, the 2 fighter hangers, the 2 GWS and the GMG.)

Unless I an misinformed...since Col Knight has "taken control" of the CC at the GMG... I'd guess that I'm next in command and with Captain Grafton out of the base on manuver element duty
In the case of the GMG, I request the Yeoman to pass along Col Knights message to the civilian's standing outside of the GMG.

Has there been any incidents of civilians shooting at our marines?

By Michael C. Grafton (Mike_Grafton) on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 - 07:21 pm: Edit

SPP: 1) What did sergeant rock find at the guv'nors palace? mcgrafto@edisto.cofc.edu

2) I have appointed Lt Vorlon as my exec and OIC at GCL D.He has the BPs already deployed there plus the GCV platoon and enough BPs to fill them up there at GCL D also.

3) Rest of the Maneuver Coy is staging to Annapolis...

4) I hope Col Knight and Maj Wile allow me to broadcast "RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY, the Klingons are shooting missiles AT the bases... Get to the rural areas away from the base impact areas ASAP..."

Since I have Sgt Rock at the Guv's place and the civilian comm center is there, I can see SGT Rocks scary face now.)

Michael Grafton:

At this point I am still waiting for Colonel Knight to advise if there is any reaction to the Gunboats appearing at range 100, or if he intends to let things float for a few impulses, and if so, to what impulse.

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 - 07:48 pm: Edit

SPP: Sorry I didn't know you were waiting on me. No reaction specifically to the Gunboats at R100. I had anticipated that and prepared for it so really I'm waiting on any new developements or the impulse when Ghost Flight A/B reach R45 from the planet.

If anything happen between now and then please advise.

-edit- Oh and no, I don't want to send any messages to the Klingons... yet.

By John Trauger (Vorlonagent) on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 - 12:38 pm: Edit

SPP,

How many people do I have at what has now become "my" GCL?

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 - 12:48 pm: Edit

Bad news. Now that we have things going, I have to stop and work on CL#31 as my number one all consuming priority.

Sorry.

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 - 12:55 pm: Edit

SPP: That's OK. Cap Logs are probably the one thing everyone wants more than anything! :)

Beside, I've just started a new job that is finally going to be a big break. Big buck doing what I am most skilled at. A last I really looks like I'm getting out of the hole of debt. I've been clawing so long at the side that it appears they are becomeing a lighter incline rather than a crumbling wall.

By Michael C. Grafton (Mike_Grafton) on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 - 04:54 pm: Edit

At range 100, the GMG test fires it's phasers. They cannot fire at targets until range 75...

By Jeff Wile (Jswile) on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 - 09:30 pm: Edit

Michael Grafton, IIRC range 100 occurs at turn #1 impulse #25.

turn # 2 impulse #32 range would be (IIUC) 61.

One idea (that Col Knight has not yet endorsed or decided against) is to damage multiple drones during the approach (since only multiple hits by phaser 4's and the phaser 1 will result in any kills) so that the 18 phaser 3's will be able to guarantee kills on damaged drones during the final approach to the planets atmosphere.

In this way, no phaser 3 shots are wasted and the long range shots of the phaser 4's and the phaser 1 contribute to the max number of drones destroyed.

(the alternative is 6 or more shots by phasser 4's and phaser 1 at a single drone during the 100 hex approach phase resulting in 1 dead drone instead of 6+ damaged drones... which the phaser 3's will have a greater chance to kill with a single shot than compared to an undamaged type IIIXX drone.

atleast that was the suggestion.

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 - 10:31 pm: Edit

Jeff Wile: I already did give orders to pursue that very tactic. I think it's best to not waste damage points on over kills.

However we must be careful not to let too many by.

By Jeff Wile (Jswile) on Thursday, May 26, 2005 - 04:15 pm: Edit

Loren Knight:

Agreed, it is best not to over kill drones... and we must be careful not to let "too many by."

May I suggest that we "role play" the moment... if SPP monitors and contributes, that would be a fine thing... but we can "seize the moment" and role play the moment...such as telling lt. Trauger to "role play" the personnel issues at "his" GCL.

We could also let Captain Grafton some latitude concerning interpersonnel communciation with the civilians appearing at his front gate...

We might also want to find out what NCO has a member of the UFP Star Fleet Marines pushing a mop at a civil defense bomb shelter when (in theory) all personnel should be at their combat stations preparing to receive an enemy attack.

We might also want to have the GWS compare the electronic emissions (EW) from the various G-1's that are now 100 hexes from the planet... and compare to the G-1G that buzzed us a week ago to see if there are any matches? (if one of the G-1's have marines onboard... I would think that might be a priority target once the drones have been accounted for...)

By Michael C. Grafton (Mike_Grafton) on Sunday, June 19, 2005 - 04:25 pm: Edit

Captain Grafton looked at the Civilians streaming away from the front gate of the Annapolis Military complex as fast as thir transport couild move. All that Corporal Snarf had to do was remind the civilians trying to get in what the Klingons blasted to dust first LAST time they invaded.

In fact, some of the civs had actually gotten hurt in the stampede away! Medical Lance Corporal Dougina Howsa was treating 2 rather elderly obese women for scrapes.

Looking down at his pad, the Captain noticed that the screen updates didn't seem to be updating synchronously with the time tick.

His comm corporal, was trying everything he could do to get the comms in order, but the darn things kept asking him to down load drivers. "I knew we should have gotten Pear OS MCII. Darn Mesosoft piece of ..."

Captain Grafton sighed and hoped his comms would work if things went to heck. At least Lt Vorlon at GCL D should be able to pick up the slack.

OFF CAMERA: Moving out to 1) Visit Mommy for 2 days in KY, 2) Bragg for inprocessing and 3) Afghainstan. If I am back online before we resume, great, otherwise; I will be just another rifleman in a foxhole...

LT COL L. KNIGHT
Acknoledges Graftons quick thinking and thanks him.

Player Loren Knight wishes Mike Grafton safe journey and says "Keep your head down and your weapon high. Be safe and return ASAP!"

Godspeed, Mike.

Player Wile out.

Oy who ordered the Pepperoni Mushroom and Tribble pizza!:O

By Jeff Wile (Jswile) on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 07:16 pm: Edit

Is this a topic that we can reopen?

Now that Cap log #31 is out, and the next one isnt due for months...

Last report had the gun boats at range 100 with the current impulse number being #13 (turn #1?)

At a guess, that puts the drones at hex #80?

with Ghost flight at range 45?

(note, I am asking if this is a correct list of ranges, not stating that the list items are infact correct.)

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 07:23 pm: Edit

Jeff Wile:

Possibly after Origins, but not before, at least on my account.

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 10:24 pm: Edit

Probably going to have to wait a bit after Origins as well. Work is heavy in that I'm executing two large contracts AND working hard and making much progress on PD Tholians. After Origins I'll be spending a good portion of my On-Line-Time conducting some discussion with SVC about several tie in points for PDT.

By Michael C. Grafton (Mike_Grafton) on Sunday, July 17, 2005 - 10:55 am: Edit

Captain Grafton screamed in frustration. His comms were still asynchronous with the rest of the batt. All he could do is send in advice, he knew he could not react in real time with the comms in such poor order.

"Dang, I guess I am in charge of everyone within earshot." he mumbled. "Poo, this was my one big chance to be THE MAN."

Off camera. Computers are hard to access here and I am working 12 hours a day running QC and EHS for my task order. Will not be ready to relieve Lt Vorlon soon AFAIK.

By Jeff Wile (Jswile) on Sunday, July 17, 2005 - 03:28 pm: Edit

The Yeoman at the Communications workstation turned to face Col Knight.

"Sir, Captain Grafton Comm signal has dropped off the net sir, unable to re-establish contact. It appears to be a technical problem, not combat related.

Attempting to contact Lt. Trauger, to advise him that Captain Grafton is out of communications with the battalion."

Major wile, observing the change of communications status of the 429th PDU officer roster, made no comment, thinking. 'Thats another link down. hope we don't lose too many more.'

By Michael C. Grafton (Mike_Grafton) on Saturday, February 11, 2006 - 03:51 am: Edit

It seemed like FOREVER since his comms had been up. Captain Grafton was ready to place his size 10EEE Redwings up someone's behind if comms don't start RIGHT NOW.

"Even the status display on my darn comms are out now, first comm send delays, then comm reciept outages and now this. Crud."

off camera. Still locked up in Afghanistan's combination Airfield and giant contractor camp.

By Jeff Wile (Jswile) on Saturday, February 11, 2006 - 12:35 pm: Edit

The Yeoman at the Communications workstation said to Col. Knoight:

"Sir, we're getting intermitent test signals from Captain Graftons com signal, its powered up and transmitting signal...but its not interfacing with the encryption program.... might be a software issue. Request a technical service review for the problem."

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, February 13, 2006 - 09:32 pm: Edit

I am pretty tied up trying to get products out, but I will see what I can do. Sigh.
