Kzinti: SRH. SR based on CV sized hull.

A survey cruiser built by the Kzintis to attempt to match the capabilities of the Federation GSC in the "northern territories" and the heavy Lyran SR with a pallet out "East."

Based on the New CV/ BCH sized hull (in fact the FIRST CV/ BCH hull) no more were built as the Admirals and other nobles screamed (the Marquis? was pleased though) and the advent of fighters meant the rest of the first 4 hulls ordered were converted (while still on the slipways) to the initial CV builds.

Among other roles it was the alternate test bed to the DDV for the intial carrier operations tests. It was this ships operations that convinced the Kzintis that carriers should retain much of their standard armnement instead of special sensors. It recived the CVS refit later than most of the other larger hulls as it was in combat much less often than the others.

Later, it served as a CVH carrier with LAS, again fairly unsuccessfully. Damaged, it was refitted extensively to the SRPP configuration. As a SRP, it provided excellent pf support facilities and its large cargo capacity made it drone bombardment capable. Often it would team up with a frigate or two and provide the requisite targeting info for the entire squadron.

For most of the war, this ship served as it was intended, as a heavy and very effective survey vessel. Later, it was the centerpiece of a "fire brigade" battle group, usually with a small escorted CV.

This explains how the Kzinti recieved so many CV hulls in the first year of deployment (per the Captains log article, I think 3 or 4 were placed into service the first year?).

It would take 2 SSDs to show both variations. NOT an effective use of a scarce heavy hull by all accounts, but an awesome SR/ Scout/ PFT/ DB ship all rolled into one.

SVC/ SPP have the SSD from me on graph paper.

I sent the entire SSD (on graph paper) to ADB.

Basically take a Kzinti CV.

Change the 2 disruptors to Special sensors.

Fighter bays and some midship phasers to labs/ cargo/ stuff and such changes. 9 (?) shuttles total including some GAS and a MRS. Extra marines.

And it get HUGE changes over the years.

1) Refitted to add warp, better drone racks and 2 more special sensors. Like the CV -> CVS changes.
2) later adds 6 under wing links for heavy fighters (not very effective) and then later these change to PF links (very effective).

The main reason I proposed this class is there has to be SOME reason the Kzinti can get 4 CVS ships added to their fleets in ONE year. My proposal is that the survey fleet tried to sneak in these and got caught while only one hull was completed, the rest were at the "bare hull" stage. And then the other 4 hulls were converted to carriers before they ever even were comissioned.

Severeal reasons come to mind to make this a reasonable proposal (to my mind at least).
1) The Kzinti SR (and SRI) are still fairly wimpy. And the Kzinti were cooperating with the Feds at about this time and surely would have encountered the GSC in the "off map areas." And in the great beyond, there should be SOME flagship. And regular Kzinti warships are just too poor in Labs and such.

2) And I also proposed a SRL which is the precursor to the CVL. Basically change disr to special sensors, fighter bays to labs and cargo. Some other minor tweaks are pretty mild. And I noted that this class FAILED, and was converted to the CVL class. This is why the Kzinti had so many of these barges.

YOu need to get Petrick to run an analysis on this, but that will have to wait.
