The Super Ancient is the great grand daddy of a local brood. The type of creature that has seen many millenia pass by, and has survived to tell its story.

It has the following stats;

Body; 300
Wings; 225 (max speed is 32)
Tail; 100
Claws; 175

Eyes still function as P-IVs, but can also fire as two P-Is per eye.

Flame is till a type R, but can also be fired in carronade mode.

Other Dragons to come;
The Undead Space Dragon
The Robot Space Dragon

What about the:

The Three Headed Space Dragon
The Three Headed Robot Space Dragon
The Space Moth
The Space Turtle

Might as well do them all for Halloween.

You people are killing me :)

By John Trauger (Vorlonagent) on Saturday, September 29, 2007 - 05:59 pm: Edit

What no giant space gorilla?

Godzilla vs King Kong was one of the best!

By Roger Rardain (Sky_Captain) on Saturday, September 29, 2007 - 06:48 pm: Edit

Your forgot Rodan. And the flying monkeys. :)

By John Erwin Hacker (Godzillaking) on Saturday, September 29, 2007 - 07:16 pm: Edit

Rodan was pushing it.

The flying monkeys were totally stupid.

By Roger Rardain (Sky_Captain) on Saturday, September 29, 2007 - 09:27 pm: Edit

JEH,

The "flying monkeys" was all in fun.

It is quite rude call it "stupid". And unnecessary.

By George M. Ebersole (George) on Saturday, September 29, 2007 - 09:38 pm: Edit

Guys; I want this thread to focus on the dragon. It's all fun and games until someone let's the monkeys fly :)

Seriously, let's look at the possibility of other monsters, and start with the Super Ancient Space Dragon :)

By Patrick H. Dillman (Patrick) on Saturday, September 29, 2007 - 10:11 pm: Edit

I kinda like the Super ancient Space Dragon. Except I'd go with Flame like an enveloped G or S.

By Glenn Hoepfner (Ikabar) on Saturday, September 29, 2007 - 11:46 pm: Edit

Or Sabot

By Roger Rardain (Sky_Captain) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 07:18 am: Edit

As the carronade rules don't really cover R-torps, sabot or enveloping is better.

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 10:20 am: Edit

Sabot is good but a super ancient drangon might have learned in that time to control its breath well enough for shotgun too.

By John Trauger (Vorlonagent) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 03:02 pm: Edit

Maybe it's learned "magic".

Suppose it could dis-dev itself like a tournament Andro and/or dis-dev others?

or weave a Loryill [sp] flame shield around itself?

Or an ESG?

Rather than boost its traditional combat abilities much over an ancient drangon we could give it run of nasty new ones.

By George M. Ebersole (George) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 03:16 pm: Edit

John; wow. I hadn't even considered that. What if there's more than one breed of Space Dragon that can do some of those things? Very interesting.

By John Trauger (Vorlonagent) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 03:30 pm: Edit

George,

That would fit. There being only so many super ancient space dragons to go around, a nice touch would be to have each of them be unique and named.

The super ancient space Dragon "Smaug" does domething different than "Tiamat" does something different than "Puff".

By Patrick H. Dillman (Patrick) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 03:46 pm: Edit

Puff would have the special ability to Displace?

By John Trauger (Vorlonagent) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 04:01 pm: Edit

Puff has an X-cloak.

As the only social space dragon, Puff slips into and out of inhabited space undetected and occasionally makes non-violent contact with sentients.

He spent some time on Earth, having made friends with a human boy and hasn't been seen since the kid grew up and discovered girls.

By Mike Raper (Raperm) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 06:16 pm: Edit

What about a dragon with a certain number of regenerating energy points, who can use those points like a mauler? Say, an ancient dragon has 40 points, and recovers 10 per turn. He can use those the same way batteries are used for a mauler, instead of the plasma-R type breath weapon.

By Dale McKee (Brigman) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 06:23 pm: Edit

You know what I'd like to see? SSDs for Space Dragons (of all sizes). You could make them pretty cool artistically. And since Dragons are some of the few monsters that actually encourage a player to run one, I think it'd be neat.

By Glenn Hoepfner (Ikabar) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 06:24 pm: Edit

A race of these dragons would make a great NPC race for campaigns and such.

Well, can't help with all sizes, but I do have this...

Ancient Space Dragon SSD

By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 06:37 pm: Edit

Mike, sweet SSD!!!

SFBOL also has SSDs for space dragons (all sizes).

By Ken Humpherys (Pmthecat) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 06:38 pm: Edit

Glenn,
Been there done that. They are a fun NPC. We even came up with rules for to make them viable a PC race. Problem was, we never play-tested it to see if it was balanced.

By Phil Shanton (Mxslade) on Sunday, September 30, 2007 - 06:54 pm: Edit

Well George at first I was kidding around, but at the game this weekend I was reminded of a campaign that some people in our group had played years ago. The dude running it also was a D&D DM, so during an encounter my GSC ran a cross the wreckage of a D5 and Space Dragon attacked, the dragon was black, here it turned out after getting enough Lab points I found out that the Dragon was immune to disruptors; not a problem since I had Photons.

The point here is color of the dragon determines it's weapons immunity.

Just a suggestion for consideration.

Mr. Raper love the SSD.

John I didn't know that Gorns were afraid of flying monkeys.

I could see flying monkeys as being a cross between Star Swarm and Banshees (and they do +1 damage to all Gorn ships)
