Jindarian BB

Proposal for a Jindarian BB:

Specs:

1) Same weapons and warp as Jindarian DNX
2) All other systems scale up from DN as would be expected, similar to Jin BCH to DN scaleup.

Justification:

1) Given that Jin can make a DNX I see little reason for them not to be able to make a BB. This being based on the fact the other races can make larger non-X ships than X ships(Klingons going twice as large).
2) It gets us one step closer to a dual with a Dominator. The next step would need to be a Jin BBX.
3) With bombers it could already dual some of the Dominator variants.
4) There are probably at least a few rocks this big.

Options:

1) I envisioned 6 WRGs but 9 might be fun.
2) 8 WRGs using metal ship arcs could also work.
3) It seams somewhat reasonable to me that if the Jins built a ship this size that they would give it a construction bay instead of more shuttles. The idea here is that it gives them a hard to kill, mobile, shipyard. Also a caravan large enough to support this ship would probably justify producing a few metal ships to protect it.

dual = two
duel = single combat

Once I can forgive as a typo. Twice and the difference needs to be noted.

To comment on the proposal.

1. Jindarians rockships are broken. A Jindarian BB will be even more broken. I don't see it being constructive to put more on that pile.

2. "Same weapons and warp as Jindarian DNX."
I hope you aren't suggesting X-Weapons? Like an XP BB?

3. It's an incorrect supposition that "Given that Jin can make a DNX I see little reason for them not to be able to make a BB.".
By that logic, any race that can build one type of ship can build any type of ship.

4. Why does there need to be a duel with a Dominator? I can't see that being any race's design goal. In fact, the Jindarians are more non-involved than any others and would prefer to just move on when a DOM shows up.

5. "The next step would need to be a Jin BBX."
And that, right there, is your biggest justification to shoot this down. It sounds like your only interest in this proposal is so that you can inch towards proposing a BBX.

6. "There are probably at least a few rocks this big."
Of course there are. Some of them are called planets. Do you have reliable engines that are big enough to generate a warp field that can move a rock this big? (Engines, by the way, were the largest impediment for the other races to build BBs of their own. And you're talking a much larger industrial and R&D base than all of the Jindarians have together, never mind a single caravan.)

7. It doesn't need a construction bay as Jindarians already have the means to build metal ships. On the other hand, after the Seltorian HIVE Ship, a construction bay isn't a first and can be justified due to the Jindarian nomadic nature.

Gary,

Line by line response:

Typo - Thanks

1) Why do you think they are broken? Either way, they are published so I will build off what already exists.

2) I meant the # and arcs of weapons. I did not intend for them to be X or XP.

3) My argument is based on stress. If the Jin can make a rock handle the stress of being a DNX I am asserting that they can make a rock into a non-X BB. Of course the true design limits are up to the Steves to decide but it seams reasonable to me that the Jin can make a BB. Especially since no indication was given that making a DN or DNX was difficult. Also they have had a long time to figure it out.

4) There does not need to be a duel with a DOM. And I don't think that the Jin would design a BB with that goal. I think that the Jin would build a BB because they found a big rock and had the resources/technology to do it. However, I do admit that my reason for wanting the ship is to take it against a DOM. Because I think it would be fun. Which is why I play the game.

5) You are correct about my goal. What I really want is a BBX but it would be hard to get that approved without publishing a BB first.

6) Yes, a BB may be impossible due to a technical limitation on warp field size.

7) The idea of giving it a construction bay was in my "Options" section. The purpose of that section was to propose alternatives to a straight expansion of a DN. That said, I could imagine the Jin giving it a construction bay since they may have spent the resources (building the BB) that would otherwise have gone to building a smaller construction ship.

Note: I don't mind if this ship is conjectural.

Jindarian rockships are broken due to them having one tactic; sit-and-spin. They are so inefficient at moving and have such a poor turn mode that they don't bother to move and instead just do tacs with a set of weapons that don't care what range at which they fight.
