Replies to various suggestions.
Index of Annexes: I know you can't do this until the end, but the index of Annexes really needs a page number for a 200 page book. Tos Crawford - 21 DEC 2008 ANSWER BY SVC: Reasonable, in theory. The way page one is laid out, it probably cannot be done. We might be able to do it on page 200, but there is a finite amount of space.
Page Breaks: I'd really like to see page breaks between the major annexes. Makes things much easier to find. Tos Crawford - 21 DEC 2008 ANSWER BY SVC: When and where we can, we already do.
Annex #3: At the end of Annex #2 is a short paragraph explaining Annex #3. It incorrectly mentions G2 instead of G3, and is slightly misleading by saying it is not in G2 (or G3). A reference to the actual page number would be useful. Tos Crawford - 21 DEC 2008 ANSWER BY SVC: No such paragraph actually exists. It’s an internal editing note.
Annex #3A: The table columns are center justified, but aren't lined up. Try using a mono-space font or right justify. Tos Crawford - 21 DEC 2008 ANSWER BY SVC: I like them the way they are. I did them that way for a reason. No Change needed.
Annex #6: Some of the lines are Replace 1, others are Replace one. They should be standardized, and I think the number will be easier to read. Tos Crawford - 21 DEC 2008 ANSWER BY SVC: I don’t know that it makes any difference. We do whatever fits in each case. We have so much to do, that doing this just seems like a waste of SPP time.
Annex #6: Is there any way to put these into an easy to read chart? 2 type-1 1 type-V 0.5 Tos Crawford - 21 DEC 2008 ANSWER BY SVC: A chart would be harder to read and take more space. Denied.
Annex #6 Drones: Please add a table for drone speeds. Speed, Endurance, YIS, Cost. Combine (FD10.52) with (FD10.651), (FD21.2), (FD21.36), (FD12.132) into one chart to rule them all. I can provide a PDF if it will make this report clearer. Tos Crawford - 21 DEC 2008 ANSWER BY SVC: Maybe, if there is time and space.
Annex #6 Drones: Please add (FD10.51). Please add (FD10.53), but also add a line for III-XX drones. Tos Crawford - 21 DEC 2008 ANSWER BY SVC: Petrick has put this in the list of all charts and tables at the back of the book.
Annex #6 Shuttles: This annex would have improved readability if it could be converted into a table. 2 Admin HTS (6-2x2) 4. Tos Crawford - 21 DEC 2008 ANSWER BY SVC: A table would be harder to read and take more space. Denied.
Header: Can the word ANNEXES in the header be replaced with the Annex description for the current page? In other words, can the header read: Annex #7G: CARRIER INFORMATION. This should make it much easier to flip through. Tos Crawford - 21 DEC 2008 ANSWER BY SVC: This seems reasonable, but it is impractical. The header is done for each section, and to put #7G: CARRIER INFORMATION in the header would require splitting the "annexes" into separate sections, one per annex and sub-annex. That’s two or three entire days of work and you can guess that this really isn’t likely to happen at this point. Denied.

SPP: Did you see my note in this thread Feb 1, 09? (Third post up from this one)

Loren Knight:
Transporter Artillery (and "Drones, Ground Attack", and "Cluster Bombs") was added to the Annex sometime last year.

List of 317 mistakes in G3 that I found in the copy I took home and read last night.
Ok, that's just a joke to get a scream out of SPP when he sees the first few words on the message tree.

SVC,
What is the stock number for this product?
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, February 21, 2009 - 01:22 pm: Edit |
Why do you need to know? ;)
It's on the alert that was posted weeks ago, so you've known for weeks. Why do I have to take time to go look up what you already know?

NOBODY try to order it from Leanna until it's on the cart. We've had people try to email her an order which doesn't work. It has to go through the cart.

@SVC: It would have been kinder to put SPP in a straightjacket and lock him in a small room full of tribbles....
Dirk
Who is anticipating G3's appearance on the cart just as much as a Fed weapons officers who has solid shields, lots of ECCM, and a finger hovering over the firing switch for a complete set of fully-overloaded photons.

I just received G3. I would give a review, but my chin hurts too much from having my jaw drop on the table. I've only had a few minutes with it and already I am in love. Thank you Steve and Steve.

How did you get yours already?

It is called "ordering it in advance" .........hehe

It's called a consolation prize. For all the near misses from SPP's bullets making him jump about

I'll bet Tos is supposed to proof the final.
By Jeff Wile (Jswile) on Sunday, March 01, 2009 - 04:34 pm: Edit |
Tos, I hope you are taking appropriate precautions!
After the failure of the "Great Hotdog Plan", SPP might have considered some new devilishly clever strategem to confuse and confound you.
Oh, and I wouldn't be too brash and trusting about any small black boxes or obvious lures!
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Sunday, March 01, 2009 - 08:36 pm: Edit |
Tos proofed the final over the last months and got a free "staff" copy.
By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, March 02, 2009 - 08:23 am: Edit |
It should be noted that Ken Kazinski also helped proof, and was sent a free copy, and Gary Bear was also offered one for his efforts (I do not know if Gary sent in the data needed for his to be sent to him or not). I know I checked the package that included Ken's copy, so I know his was sent to him.

I hope it's here today when I get home

As I know there will probably be things we missed, could we get the G4 topic opened so we can keep new items seperated from general comments on G3?
By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Monday, March 02, 2009 - 08:39 pm: Edit |
Ken, I do that when SVC says go forth and do. Give me an email bump on Sunday so I remember to ask him, please.
Thanks,
Jean

Does G3 have the ships from the Y modules in it?
By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Wednesday, March 04, 2009 - 07:13 pm: Edit |
John Smith:
Module Y1 was integrated into Module G2, and thus was carried forward into Module G3, Module Y2 was integrated into Module G3, along with Modules X1R, R11, etc.
