CCCP? What does the Soviet Union have to do with all of this?

CCCP: Convenient Chart Compilation Pages.

Scenario index. Well, if the Master Sensrio book is going to be done reasonably soon, then there isn't much point. However, I would define it as:

A list of all scenarios by number with the following data. Title, Product. Additional data I would love to have (and what makes it really worth doing) is number of players, races, and year (for historical scenarios anyway).

Scenario#TitleProductPlayersRacesYear
SH16 The Wyn and the Lion S1 2 Lyran:Wyn 181

Of course, I wouldn't mind this being on line either.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Sunday, July 05, 2009 - 07:50 pm: Edit

We need to finalize the list of what is supposed to be in this product. Does anyone have a list of things they believe are supposed to be in G3A besides Annex #5 and the Carrier Fighters & Escorts data?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Sunday, July 05, 2009 - 08:30 pm: Edit

This COULD include:

Annex 5 (bumped from G3 by megafighters)

The carrier escort chart (Petrick spent a month on this chart alone)

The CL14 cross index (Petrick would have to update it)

The index of captain's log

The master table of contents of the whole SFB system.

List of tug pod weights

Some kind of drone cost chart (the ones submitted are so confusing and full of mistakes that you'd have to ask Petrick -- nicely -- to start with a blank sheet of paper and make one that actually works)

Scenario index: a tabular Excel chart.

=======REJECTED===========
CCCP: already in G3
MWC: already in G3
Turning D17.3/4 into annex: not possible.
Tug pod chart: already in G3.
Ship Name Registry: going elsewhere.

"My first want would be for the various tables to integrate Alpha, Omega, and Magellanic data in one place. I want a Cost of Repair chart that has everything so I only need to look in one place. I realize that the decision has been made long ago to have G3 include only Alpha, but with print-on-demand, would it be possible to have a module G3+ that integrates everything?"

SVC REPLY: I'm going to shoot blind here since I assume G3 did not do this. For all I know, it did.

Yes, in theory, it could be done. As a practical matter, I have to ask if it should be.

1. As previously established, most SFB players did not want the other stuff (omega, magellanic, etc.) mixed in and cluttering up the pages.

2. The data exists separately for the Omega, Magellanic, etc. in their respective documents.

3. The total number of people who requested this is two. I don't see taking up Petrick time for something only two people want. Prove to me that we'd sell 200 copies and I'll schedule the SPP time, but frankly, we'll sell a lot more copies of G3A and that's what he's going to do after C3A.

A unifed cost of repair, hit on (i.e. disr hit on torp), option mount costs, and sequence of play, would be very useful to the group I play with, if any of these are already done I appoligise for mentioning them here, I have not been able to by G3 yet.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, July 06, 2009 - 03:56 pm: Edit

I don't understand, ADM.

Do you want those four things integrated together? (I don't see how to do that.)

Or did you mean all game data for each of those four things integrated into its own thing (already in G3, and in G2, and in G1).

Or something else?

By A. David Merritt (Adm) on Monday, July 06, 2009 - 04:22 pm: Edit

I wanted option B, if it has been done in G3 as in G2, I am happy.

SCENARIO INDEX

What columns do we need?

Number
title
product
number of players
number of ships (or number of warships and number of other units)
Empires
Year
possibly a notes column

Anything else...?

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Wednesday, July 08, 2009 - 07:22 pm: Edit

Sort by year then number?

[ducks and runs]

On a more serious note, some way of indicating the types of ships would be great. Perhaps it could be in the notes column. I realize that for some scenrios it would be easy to list the ships, and in others it would be a royal pain.
Perhaps if the scenario has a LPW in it they are listed?
I don't know what criteria could be used, but I picture myself and others trying to hunt down that B-10 scenario and wishing it was noted. Or, which scenario has a Andro Dominator?

By Gary Carney (Nerroth) on Wednesday, July 08, 2009 - 07:26 pm: Edit

Maybe a list for which setting the scenario is in?

One for Alpha, one for M81, others for Omega, the Magellanic Cloud, Triangulum, M31, and so on and so forth.

Some might be under more than one category - for example, there's a scenario in C5 which features Klingon, Eneen and Andromedan ships in the same action.

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Wednesday, July 08, 2009 - 07:37 pm: Edit

If there is going to be mixed setting, a clear note for that would be nice. You can decern what the setting is by the races in most cases, but it would make it easier to scan through during searches a lot easier (increasing the utility of the chart).

By Ken Kazinski (Kjkazinski) on Wednesday, July 08, 2009 - 08:29 pm: Edit

Instead of total number of units, how about number of units/side by size class.

The rest of the information would be great, including the setting information in the notes.

By George Duffy (Sentinal) on Wednesday, July 08, 2009 - 10:40 pm: Edit

In the "notes" how about a letter/symbol to indicate special terrain features for the map. Many scenarios are open space or have a planet in the center of the map. But others have those quirky side bits we need to lookout for.... Like gravity waves.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Thursday, July 09, 2009 - 10:18 am: Edit

I don't think a letter/symbol for terrain is a good idea. The word "asteroids" should be just as easy to do and easier to grasp.

Total units by size and side is too complex, too much work, and would kill the project.

I think a setting note is only needed in unusual cases, such as Klingon-vs-Andro-vs-Eneen.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Thursday, July 09, 2009 - 11:13 am: Edit

Ok, here is the layout we came up with. Every minute that goes by is going to make it more and more impossible to do any changes but you can ask. Some comments....

Ships are: Military ships (including bases) + F (Fighters and bombers) G (interceptors, PFs, and Skiffs) + Non-military ships (freighters and APTs and Complats and so forth)

Empires are by letter code. We'll put omega in a separate chart so that doesn't come a big issue.

Notes are whatever we thought was worthy.

I insist on keeping each scenario to one line so this chart does not totally blow up in our faces.

Pretty good. Question, is that the Wyn Cluster? Will Jean consider "Cluster" jargon?
