I am working on a Day of the Eagle ("DOTE" hereafter) fiction piece and, as such, SVC has asked me if I have checked the existing lists of forces.

But I do not know of any complete listings.

I have started a database of Roms (plus any Orion Allies like at Denebola) and Feds with post DOTE status (ie KIA/ WIA return to base/ WIA continuing mission/ UNK) but am looking for input.

KNOWN ships/ SH scenarios/ Battles:

CL 5 Encounter at Denebola
CL 5 And to the Republic
CL 5 Surprise Reversed
CL 5 also some small asides that talk about a few ships

CL 37 The Magnificent Panzers. (by Randy)

Any other known data points in CL or other products? Which "star legions" are which and where are they based? The Fed Fleet Orbat is given in CL 5, but at least one mistake is in it AFAIK.

What ships are missing details/ not mentioned at all?

Things like:
* DWs and HDDs (YIS?)
* Carriers (IIRC 2 are mentioned in CL5, one of them has its escorts in combat in another story)
* Mine Sweepers
* Fast ships
* LTT/ DWT/ Frigate class small military tugs. IIRC CL 5 has just a single Tug mentioned.

* Funky ships (this is an actual class) like Hospital Ships, Drone Bombardment ships, Wierd Conversions of Old Armored ships like the Fed CL and Falcon Maulers...

* Signifigant National Guard units (ie NOT the single "poor quality militia" company on Buttscratchistan III, but YES the more famous/ infamous ones)

* GSC or other scouts <including Frigate/ DW/ NCL based ones) not mentioned above (IIRC CL 5 mentions just one scout for the Feds and one for the ROMS which just doesn't make sense)

I would ideally like a list of ALL the ships on both sides... Plus at least one Gorn (Reptilicon?).

And if you would be so kind as to tell me WHERE you found the reference. Example "Module XXX, SH YYY" or "Captains Log ZZ, Page QQ" I will cram it into my spreadsheet.

Is there a definitive ORBAT for the DOTE in F&E?

MY story is to involve: Fed POL, Bomber Base & Bombers, and some Freighters (still balancing the POL + Freighters) VS ROMS: a Hawk CV (a crappy CV, but still), its superiority fighters and its Snipe escort (which is a surprisingly powerful unit).

Hmm.

Reference in Captain's Log 21, page 3 to the Federation Heavy Cruiser Pharsallus being on duty to cover a section of the Romulan border (But laid up in dock to replace a faulty warp core, and is down for at least a week), in the fiction piece The Art of Duty. Also accounts for the War Eages Shikra, Wildfire, and Praetor's Will. Mention of the Police ship Swamp Fox around base 457. And the construction at base 455 which is currently lacking its fighter squadron. (And apparently no modules as of yet)

Page 4, same fiction suggests a Destroyer Division near what I presume is thier home operating port of Base 457, the learder of which is the Leonidas.

And of course Page 7, destruction of the Federation Light Cruiser Macedonia, and the towing of the War Eagle Wildfire back to whatever base it came from.

Scenario Morkedian Death March: Federation Ground Forces on Morkedian-III defeated initial Romulan landing attempt but had to be evacuated, but freighters were caught by pursuing Roms. OB includes Fed CL, DW, Rom 2xKR, SpH, K5R.

In CL#5 in the Day of the Eagle, conclusion page 28 Mathews states "and when the attack came, when my fleet lost half of its ships on the first day and most of the rest within a month...".

The FF Zhadanov and CA Potemkin survived. They are in SH81 Radey to the Rescue, Y175 on the Klingon front (in R3). The Copernicus is destroyed in Y183 on the Klingon front (SH73.0) SLIPBACK (in R2).

I have tried make one OB myself, but had trouble with the ships that were on the border 'in that timeperiod' but not neccessarily that day.
This means they could have been sent elsewhere just before D-day, or arrived just after as reinforcements.

GURPS Romulans has a short story called "Identity" about the Romulans invading Kappa Hydra V, a mining facility operated by the Martian Mining and Manufacturing Corporation, on the Day of the Eagle.

Kappa Hydra V was defended by a battery of 6 phaser-1 bases, four defense satellites, and a commercial platform. The Romulan force which invaded it included the KR Retaliation, one unnamed KR frigate, one unnamed War Eagle, two unnamed Snipe frigates, and an unnamed Battlehawk commando ship.

CL 31 had the scenarios "Shield of the Federation" and "Aces and Eights."

The first (SL 234) featured NCL+ Groton and DDL Genghis, and Martian NG FF Dorsey Pender. SPA+ Furious, SKA Sling and K5R Rapier for the Romulans. I haven't checked the fiction.

Sometime soon after DotE, (SL235) had the Nimitz CVS group vs. Imperial Standard & SKE Rampart. SPA Havoc was detached to attack Ayers' Rock (SH183).

Nexus #?/CL #13 has the fiction story "Behind the glory of the heroes." I don't think it specified that it was DotE, but the crew didn't act like it was wartime already. There, we see unnamed KR, 2 WE, KF5R against a station, presumably one of the border BATS?

The Prime Directive Romulans books may have some useful data.

And the F&E OOBs don't necessarily reflect how many ships you have, it's how many ships you have available for action, in reality ships are chasing pirates, doing other jobs, being rotated to the rear areas for overhaul etc etc. So while the OOBs may be a good guide for how many Romulan ships participated in the offensive on DOTE, it's not necessarily conclusive about how many the Roms had.
