Thanks Ken!

To ask another (sorry)...

33% of our points can be from our secondary race. Is this calculated before or AFTER we pay for our homeworld starbase's BPV? In other words, do we get (2000*.33) for our minor race, or is it ([2000-600=1400]*.33)?

By Ken Burnside (Ken_Burnside) on Friday, January 08, 2010 - 04:23 pm: Edit

Dale, it's the former. And your Starbase counts for qualifying for your major race's 67%.

All bases must be of the major race.

Rules update is put in place.

It fixes the year in service issue, and cleans up some of the sidebar examples.

It makes the Paravian starbase a variant of the Gorn starbase rather than the Lyran

It explicitly states that your starting starbase counts as a unit of your primary race for the purposes of determining your percentages of primary and secondary races.

Errata:

Drone users adjacent to a zone with a base get one additional reload's worth of drones at the end of each strategic turn.

Drone users adjacent to a zone with a friendly resource center get two reloads worth of drones at the end of each strategic turn.

Here are everyone's primary races, in order of home sector selection:

Krellex/Fred: Gorn
Sky_Captain/Roger: Klingon
Purple_Daddy/Dale&Jeremy: Hydran
mbaima: Mike Baima: Federation
Tugger/Robert: ISC
princeton/Frank: Romulan

There are 6 starting areas on the map. Going from the left edge one and clockwise around from there, each of you pick one, in order.

They are, in position order:

Left
Upper Left
Upper Right
Right
Lower Right
Lower Left

Fred, you turned in your picks first, you get first choice. Everyone else, please pick in order. If you can get them to me by Sunday night, I'll update the maps.

Secondary empires are due next Tuesday. You can, to save time, email them to me anytime before then.

Map symbols:

The pentagons are resource centers
The seven pointed stars with the arrow pointed up are pushstars (as referenced in the rules)
The polygons with a key symbol marked A through D are the waypoints needed to end the game. They're all in the Inner Ring zones in light blue.
The hexagons made of 6 small triangles like a camera shutter are warp points

The diamonds are an ion storm. The ones in a circle have a 1 in 6 chance of rotating one space clockwise each turn.
The clumps of ovals are asteroids; the clumps with lots of ovals are heavy asteroid fields
The gas giants are gas giants
The 8 pointed rayed star with straight lines is a variable pulsar
The 9 pointed star with curved lines and a black center is a black hole

The blue hexagons are the 6 starting home sector.
The black hexagon is impassable. The ring of blue zones in the middle is the inner ring where the Waypoints are.

Question re making contact.
