The Starting SB counts 600 BPV against your initial cap. It also counts as a unit of greater than SC 4.

Let's avoid making exceptions...

By Dale McKee (Brigman) on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 - 01:50 pm: Edit

Well, Ken, that flies completely in the face of what you told me in-channel on SFBOL (the SC4 requirement, not the cap). That also makes the fleets Jeremy and I worked so hard on building (with the mistaken belief the campaign was starting up soon) illegal.

Nobody likes trying to hit a moving target when dealing with rules in a campaign. At this point I think I've lost interest. Consider us dropped.

By Robert Grey (Tugger) on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 - 02:01 pm: Edit

Well, Poo.

I will start asking around, I think I can find a player or two to pick up the Fed postion. Though haveing the Baduvai as a secondary will make it a harder sell...
Unless either of the current Admerials in waiting want to pick it up. However, as they both just passed a few days ago, I will start recruiting now...

Sorry you feel this way - and my apologies on the order sheet. (I also only recall the question about the base counting against the cap, not the limit of SC3/SC4 units.

Let me ask the other players:

Does it make a difference if the SB counts against the SC3+ limit to you guys? My only reason for saying otherwise is a general interest in consistency and minimuzing rules exceptions.

Also, I anticipate the orders sheet up tonight or tomorrow - the project that's been eating my Excel time got turned in today.

By Robert Grey (Tugger) on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 - 05:08 pm: Edit

I dont care either way. Am still working on my fleet, and can easily add in another sc4, or one less.

By Benoit Rheaume (Bneus) on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 - 06:16 pm: Edit

Hey send me the feds ill play.
I can for a bout 2 months..and then id have to see if i have to switch my empire to someone else..anyways isnt that how Fed democracy works? a 2 term(month) limit :)

Hmm on second thought...euh...whats a Baduvai?? :)
I have omega rulebook...but no baduvai in it...what do I need to use em?

By Robert Grey (Tugger) on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 - 07:14 pm: Edit

Benoit, I think they are a Magellanic Cloud race.
Good news is, you -don't- have to use their ships if you prefer not to. You can go Fed all the way.

Fleet data entry tab is fixed now.

Because it made the coding VASTLY simpler, bases do not count towards any of the limits for SC3 versus SC4.

Also, I believe that Dale and Jeremy were playing IH. ISC-Hydran. Fed-Baduvai is Mike Baima.

Order entry page is nearly done. Working on Adjacency Lists.

By Ken Burnside (Ken_Burnside) on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 - 11:48 pm: Edit

Adjacency list done, automatic drop downs built for orders.

As soon as I run some tests, I'll post it on the site.

Posted.

http://www.adastragames.com/downloads/SFB/DbOM_Fleet_Orders.xls

This is reasonably stable beta spreadsheet fu.

Everyone has until Friday, March 5th, to email me a copy of this sheet with their fleet inventories on it.

I also recommend that, before you send me a copy, you make one fleet, use the map, and try to maneuver the fleet into and out of every zone on the map, just to get a feel for how the sheet works. This will also help me identify any bugs (like Roger's experience with two zones that had no way out.)

Do remember that the Outer Zone zone numbers are pre-pended with a 0, not the letter O.

DO NOT put your Commander's Options in that file - but do include drone speed upgrades and fighters.

This will be public information, and everyone will be given a copy that shows the current fleet inventory of every player in the game. (This is why your COs aren't in there, because those are secret until revealed.)

Please post here saying you downloaded the file and that it opens.

Got file, it opens.
Will have some questions later.

Found another few more typos

(UTF2.11) A fleet is a group of ships or a single ship that moves on one set of movement
orders No single fleet can exceed the fleet cap imposed by (UTF4.3). ((4.3 does not refer to fleet cap, 4.14 does. 4.3 refers to limits to types of units))

Found this becuase on the Player Input, the line for Fleet PBV cap has 1350 listed

Also, having trouble assigning ships to fleets.
The starbase has a nice scroll, where I can pick the fleet its in, but cannot do that with newly added ships

By Ken Burnside (Ken_Burnside) on Thursday, February 18, 2010 - 11:24 pm: Edit

Thanks, Robert. I fixed both problems.

File has been replaced in place. Everyone download the spreadsheet, let me know that you've got it.

Got the new one, will try to break it tomorrow :-)

Found another glitch, and fixed it.

Re-download, please.

Ok, got the new new one :-)

By Ken Apel (Kengulnar) on Friday, February 19, 2010 - 04:18 am: Edit

I must be missing something... what do I do if I want more than 6 ships or 3 fleets ? all the cells are protected so I cant copy them or whatnot

By Benoit Rheaume (Bneus) on Friday, February 19, 2010 - 07:58 am: Edit

OK well then just put me as a fleet captain sub.
If anyone wants me to fly one of their battles, ill be rdy.
dont really want to play a 2nd race that i dont have the rules for.

never bought Mag cloud , cause i thought they we're only old tech ships... didnt the Andromedans kill all of those guys off?

By Ken Burnside (Ken_Burnside) on Friday, February 19, 2010 - 12:20 pm: Edit

Benoit, there are two positions open. Ken Apel gets first choice.

Romulan/Lyran
Hydran/ISC

Neither of them require Magellanic rules to fly.

Ken: I think I need to unprotect a cell on the first tab. Yep.

Uploaded a new version.

You designate how many fleets you have (and what resource centers you have under your control) in the Player Input tab.

You input all the ship information in the Master Ship List tab. One of the drop downs on that master ship list is a fleet assignment drop down; that's in column A.

The order tab is used for assigning orders to fleets.

The Reports tab generates standardized text orders for each fleet that you'll be emailing to me.

By Ken Burnside (Ken_Burnside) on Friday, February 19, 2010 - 12:49 pm: Edit

There has been a request, since we've not gotten started, and have 33% attrition, to let everyone re-pick their secondary races. I leave the matter open to vote. It will take a "yes" vote of 4 out of 9 players (Roger, Robert, Mike, Fred, Benoit, Ken, Tos, Peter and myself) to trigger a re-selection of secondary races.

By Robert Grey (Tugger) on Friday, February 19, 2010 - 02:09 pm: Edit

New spreadsheet downloaded, seems to work just fine so far (only had a few mins to putz with it).
I am a vote Yes for allowing new Secondarys to be choosen.

By Fred J. Kreller (Kreller1) on Friday, February 19, 2010 - 02:28 pm: Edit

Yes to secondaries
