Ken Rodeghero:

The rule is part of the Hydran "R" section. To put it anywhere else would mean renumbering it, perhaps as (J4.8311) (making it part of the rule for reloading fusion beams) or (E7.6) (making a fighter fusion section of the fusion beam rules).

Aha, there it is! Excellent. No clue how I missed that. Thank you!

So is it safe to assume (dangerous...) that most or all R-section rule type entries will end up up in their respective empire's MSSB?

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, March 13, 2017 - 02:38 pm: Edit

Ken Rodeghero:

That would be my intent as I went along.

The Federation "Note on Escorts" is found in (R2.R5) in the Federation Master Starship Book where it has always been.

The Klingon book had all the rules for Penal Ships (R3.R5) included in its "refits" section (like the Federation "Note on Escorts" above) because that was the rule number it appeared under.

The Romulan book includes all of the data on "Modular BPVs" under (R4.R5) as it has always been there in the rules, but also includes various "N" notes [(R4.N1) SparrowHawk Modular Cruiser, (R4.N2) SkyHawk Modular Destroyer, (R4.N3) Notes on Heavy Hawk Series, (R4.N4) Snipe Class Frigate Background, (R4.N5) Nomenclature of KR-Series Ships, (R4.N6) Romulan KR Conversions, (R4.N7) Notes on Romulan Seahawk Frigates, and so on, but they all appear generally where they appeared in the rulebooks].

If there is a rule that is part of an empire's background/ship description, fighter description, PF description, ground forces description, it is or will be included as part of that empire's Master Starship Book.

SPP,

Are there plans for a "Generic Units Master Starship Book" that includes units and rules contained in the R1 sections such as:

Minesweeping Shuttle (R1.F2)
Ground Assault Shuttle (R1.F4)
Heavy Transport Shuttle (R1.F5)
Minelaying Shuttle (R1.F6)
Electronic Warfare Fighters (R1.F7)
Heavy EW Fighters (R1.F7A)
C-Refits for Fighters (R1.F8)

Thank you!

Ken

Ken Rodeghero:

I can tell you that such a book has been in my thought processes. And it is not just the (R1.F) rules, but the rules to actually use defense satellites and ground bases, minelaying freighters, and damaging starbases, plus others.

Obviously the "fighter tables" would simply list the number of "size 1" (or "size 2") fighters or in the case of the bomber bases the number of bombers rather than specific fighters and bombers, with notes that you would have to see the empire's master fighter chart for when fighter types are available (or the empire specific Master Star Ship Book).

But endlessly repeating the Generic Rules in the Master Star Ship Books was a non-Starter, and that meant that we pretty much just put those parts of the generic units that were pretty specific to the empire in question (what weapons it has, does a refit apply to it, etc.).

Sounds great to me. Thank you for the detailed reply! I look forward to the future offerings in the product MSSB line.

(XD6.34) eMRB - This rule lists a legendary gunner but there are no G22.0 legendary gunners. By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Friday, July 06, 2018 - 05:07 pm. While definitely a case of sloppy, the intention is clear that a Legendary Gunner is just another name for the Legendary Weapons Officer. - Ken Kazinski, 15 Jul 2018.

(D15.87) eMRB - The Cost for an MSS Shuttle is listed as 2.0 but the Annex 4 lists the cost as 3. - Ken Kazinski, 24 Jul 2018.

(D15.87) eMRB - Should not the various XXX-S Shuttle and XXX-Si Shuttles be listed as XXX Shuttle-S and XXX-Si Shuttle, to be consistent with how the other shuttles are listed? - Ken Kazinski, 24 Jul 2018.

(E13.32) eMBB “Per (E13.32) the Tholian Web Tender snares only fire directly to the rear.”? - Ken Kazinski, 17 Jul 2019. REPLY: Rule (E13.32) is in error as the ship has two web generators, not one, and so uses the normal rules for snares.

(E14.13) OVERLOAD: Web fists cannot be overloadec (E12.33). "overloadec" should be "overloaded" - Ken Kazinski, 9 Aug 2020.

For a future update, could page numbers be added to the Table of Contents for ease of going to the correct page quickly? My PDF reader allows me to jump to a page number, and I'm sure others do as well. If, for example, I want to jump to (J0.0) SHUTTLECRAFT AND FIGHTERS, it is on page 301 of the 2012 printing. Since the cover art is not a numbered page, but is counted as the first page of the PDF document, I add 1 to the page number and input this into the PDF reader page number and I'm there instantly. The page numbers would also help in the hardcopy rulebooks, too.

(G10.125) eMRB - Should not "adjacent to two (only two) web hexes." be "adjacent to two (and only two) web hexes." - Ken Kazinski, 19 Dec 2020.

(J52.0) eMRB - The rule for the simulator empires is missing from the rule book. This rule is called out in Module G3, Annex 4 on page 121. If you did not know this was a rule from C4 you might think it is an error. - Ken Kazinski, 7 Feb 2022.

eMRB - I noticed none of the C4 simulator rules are part of the eMRB. It is clear that C4 was not included per the "All the rules!" paragraph. Should not these rules be included so the "Completely Organized" paragraph's statement of "Every rule in exact numerical order. No more assembling a rulebook from pieces of a dozen products. It’s all here, in order, start to finish, end to end!" would be more correct? Or at minimum that the Table of Context would reference them as being in module C4? - Ken Kazinski, 7 Feb 2022.

(J4.233) eMRB - Consider putting the note " Note that this rail can also be fitted with a type-VI drone." in its own rule, possibly (J4.2331) so it can be listed seperately in a unit description. The F-14C can use this type of special rail but it is not able to carry a type-VI drone, but the F-14D is able to carry a type-VI. By adding (J4.2331) this rail configuration could be called out by rule number. - Ken Kazinski, 14 Apr 2022.

(J14.233) eMRB- Consider adding a statement that (J10.4) applies to seeking weapon control also. This would remove any ambiguity that (J10.44) seeking weapon control would also apply. "Bombers use the same rules as heavy fighters (J10.4) for launching and controlling seeking weapons or firing direct-fire weapons, except that bombers can launch a maximum of three seeking weapons during any single turn." - Ken Kazinski, 30 Apr 2022.

By Ken Kazinski (Kjkazinski) on Sunday, October 23, 2022 - 09:51 am: Edit

(FD2.443) eMRB - (FD2.443) states "In the storage facility for the fighters (if the ship is a carrier), see (J4.824)," and (J4.824) states "Drone storage is specified in (FD2.443)." Since (FD2.443) is a circular reference right back to itself, should "(if the ship is a carrier), see (J4.824)," be removed?

(D2.35) eMRB - The ISC has additional units with a restricted firing arc that should be shown in (D2.35). There should be "AP" with a single arrow pointing direction "4". - Ken Kazinski, 29 Apr 2024
