Kith ~ Valonqar

I have been rebuilding my fleets also, will try to finish up later tonight.

Ken- I sent you a revised ship list. I swapped two more fed hulls for Baduvian. I played with the combo this week and...AWESOME! While seemingly under valued on the surface they are wickedly effective as Fed support or supplemental hulls. No SPs for them though.:-(

Valonqar- I kept your nemesis DWS in the lineup. I use The Greek pantheon for ship naming conventions as they are organized in a hierarchical fashion with the 12 Olympian gods at the top. I use this tier for for SB, BATs, BBs, CVAs. In honor of it's drone inert-ing performance it was given the highest honor a Feduvian Empire DD class hull can receive by renaming it USS Athena (Goddess of wisdom and war).

I got the updated sheet, Troy.

Anybody still out? Want to start shooting next weekend :)

By Ken Burnside (Ken_Burnside) on Sunday, February 20, 2011 - 10:15 am: Edit

Jim Bunker is still adjusting his fleets. The problem he's got is that he's also trying to set up TAoC...and discovered last night that a lot of what I'd done to set up the spreadsheet does, in fact, need to be there. :)

I'll have updated maps up tomorrow morning. Did a lot of typing yesterday and need to let my wrists recover. (6.5 audio hours of transcription.)

I had something come up with the Ad Astra Games server migration: I will post new files when I get time to process orders. With luck the server problem will be solved soon, but if it isn't, I'm going to be working on Saturday trying to fix the issue.

Ken,

An update would be nice, even "I am working people".

Thanks

I really hope the other campaign does better than the 2 months per turn we've been doing here :(

Ja I think this one is dead ... bit annoyed as this is the 3rd campaign I have started in 2 years that died.

Hello all.
I have enjoyed playing SFB for many, many years now. I first played with my father, about 32 years ago. I have come and gone from the game, several times, played face to face, and enjoyed SFBOL hugely. However,I am very likely not going to be able to access the Internet for a good long while, very soon, and wanted to say farewell to all my friends and foes before I left.

Thank you all for the great games, and friendships, for blowing me up with salvos of Photons, and for letting me slam 3 large drones into your down shield.

Fare thee well, and be well!

Robert Grey

Sensei,

Thank you for your counsel and patients with me and all the cadets as we started here. I hope to see your presence return when the time permits.

Take care,

Jim

Hey Robert...hurry back bud.

I have enjoyed our games Tugger and you will be missed.

I also hope you are able to come back someday, but understand how life can change.

You were a huge help to me when I came back to the game last fall. Again I thank you. You were a good teacher and made coming back to the game very fun for me.

I wish you the best, and hope we see you again someday when you feel like coming back to the game. Its been an honor losing to you Robert, you showed me some amazing tricks. If you do come back I sure hope I improve a bit between now and then.

Well if the overseer and a player are gone here then both campaigns need players and this one needs its overseer.

Sorry Jim about not getting my fleets in yet just been really buisy lately. Any ideas on how we can continue from here. I think this campaign shouldn't have to be over. With these build in place grants from the overseer to a new player it should be possible to continue. But somebody would have to take the overseer's position and a player be found.

Jim was talking about using a web page to control most of the overseers job anyway. That would take time to create but somebody should be able to move the fleets around for you all.

Hopefully Robert would be able to provide his most recent turns file to the new player.

I don't see why it should have to be the end of DboM. Its a big one two punch for sure. Im sorry to see the game break down this way, if there's anything I could do to help you move on in the game I would.

One possibility is a hopefully short delay of TAoC, and any battles that involved Roberts ISC Kzin race could be fought by admirals from the other campaign while we try to find alternates and another player or two.

Im attached to my Hydran Orions over in TAoC and really dont want to give them up. Maybe the overeers job should have an alternate. Two players from TAoC could work together to help you process the turns.

I think that some of these battle could be farmed out to any admiral untill a permanent solution is found. Between TAoC and here there are enough players to keep both moving if this unwritten rule that you cant be in two campaigns at one time. As a temporary measure it could save this game hopefully, and maybe get ours to live long and prosper. lol

Infant mortality rates on SFBOL campaigns are very high, we need a bit of health care reform there. How about the idea that an overseer cant be a player in a campaign that he is playing and that the overseer while you can do it with one could be better with 2 people working the job. That way when one vanished the other would hopefully be available. It would probably let more of the battles have an overseer present.

Ken is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to the rules, but his work seems to sometimes prevent him from playing and or overseeing. Hopefully he will be back soon. But don't you all think that perhaps either a two to three person panel of overseers might be better. These could be other experienced players or players in our other campiagn.

There is a campaign out there that I think farms its battles out a bit. We have players that could fight the battles, the strategic and diplomatic game is almost a seperate game. We need somebody to look at your current orders and tell you what zones have battles in with the players we have. And in the case of the ISC Kzin find an admiral to fight any battles. If we can get the spreadsheet.

Or you could let a player that knows how to fill out the spreadsheet redo his fleets using the ISC Kzin race with whatever fleet cap the map shows from last turn.

I just want to blow up a few ships, and burnout a few warp engines. I think we all do, now unless many more do we would be able to move forward almost immediatly if the overseer job was contracted out for as long as ken is gone.

I have no doubt Jim could teach one of the players in TAoC what to do. I doubt very much we would be the best authority on a rule question possibly, but with the eMRB its easy to go through any tricky rule and reach a decision.

Im willing to help any way that you all think is practical. I would enjoy playing any battles that needed playing and ECF is the ISC in TAoC. Maybe between the two of us we could at least fight the battles of the ISC Kzin. Much like Ken I feel certain we could never replace Robert skill wise, sorry Chris. :)

I really hope something can be worked out between the two campaigns and 11 players that want to fight battles. I think there is no reason why we cant make it happen.
