Advanced Shuttle question:
In scenarios taking place in y180+, do we all just get Advanced Admins (and Advanced GAS if you are, well, me...) for free or do we have to pay for them? The rules on Advanced Admin Shuttles say that as of Jan 1, y180, everyone automatically gets all their shuttles turned into Advanced versions for free. Which doesn't necessarily mean we have to here, but I was just wondering for future clarity.

Looks like they are free! I was thinking there was a cost to upgrade them in Annex #6 but there isn't really so we'll go with the rule that says they do not cost anything.

Just as a note, it appears that the % of BPV for Commander's Options does not appear in the 2.2 version of the rules.

Let's hope the monster is a Space Manta or Eel. Lyrans love sushi.
By Troy Latta (Saaur) on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 - 07:55 pm: Edit |
The monster's classification is irrelevant. It represents a risk to the Drexari. It will be destroyed.

Hi Mike,
What is the source material for QX-57? I have to see if its something I have.
By Peter Thoenen (Eol) on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 - 02:05 am: Edit |
Ditto since no chance I can actually kill a monster w/ my fleet .. i.e. going to just rush the freights off the map

Declassified Communications Intercepts Y174
From: Director of Alien Contact
To: Tholian Security Services
Subject: BEST Staffing
The Bureau of Alien Contact has selected staff for assignment to BEST. All BAC staff have passed Department of Isolation screening and feel their request for supplemental screening is a delaying tactic in there effort to stall implementation of BEST. Pending final clearance form DI, I appoint Deputy Director of Alien Contact (Orion Division) Corundum as our embarked Officer. Corundum’s personal communication connections with a number of independent vessel and outpost leaders should provide the greatest possible benefit to BEST. I think the expansion of trade and commerce will benefit the Holdfast's Security far more than the risk of contamination Iron's so fearful of.
Corundun has assembled a group of fine staff workers to join this operation and submitted this staff list to the DoI for secondary screening. After approval all communication for BEST with the DAC will be passed through Deputy Corundum.
Director of Alien Contact, Maltodextrin

I'm pretty sure that from earlier discussion, the Freighters are not on map most of the time--in the duel scenarios, they are "just off map"; they might be a factor in the monster scenario.
By Peter Thoenen (Eol) on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 - 12:03 pm: Edit |
Not sure why they wouldn't be on map at all times. I also assume Akira has some mechanism that prevents the "opposing player" from just suicide his fleet on your freighters ignoring your fleet. Something like the scenario counts for both of you.
I.e. BOTH of you have your freighters on the map at the same time.
By Troy Williams (Jungletoy) on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 - 12:14 pm: Edit |
I would think that if both sides have freighters on the board they would simply exchange articulated gestures and phrases regarding parental lineages while passing quietly in the night.
By Mike Johnson (Akira) on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 - 12:45 pm: Edit |
Peter is correct, freighters do not play a role in the player v player scenarios. I want to keep them as straightforward battles, at least for this phase. Disengagement is pretty easy and pursuit isn't really an option as everyone has their own phase objective to complete, so most people would probably just disengage the freighters on impulse two anyway.
The freighters certainly will play a role in the other scenarios though.

Well let us known Mike so we can start doing the first scenario

Yes, let's get to the part where we blow stuff up!! Or in other cases get blow'd up in spectacular fashion.

The Peladine squadron has been submitted! The mighty "Flipper", "Ganga" and "Sly Cooper" are ready to venture forth.
The Ranel wish it known that they insisted on at least one Ranel-captained vessel in the squadron, the "Sly Cooper". Their commentaries on Phelan bias can be heard here:

Sweet! Sushi with a side racoon-al-dente? The Lyran contingent does have one question, do Hydrans taste like chicken?
