"Prepare to die, [insert race] scum!"

By Peter Thoenen (Eol) on Friday, July 15, 2011 - 01:56 pm: Edit

Peter:

In the 2.2 update email Mike stated one of the changes is you need to include CO's in your initial build. I need to go back and re-read how often and when we can change them.

By Peter Thoenen (Eol) on Friday, July 15, 2011 - 01:57 pm: Edit

LOL Troy .. you are the one race I don't want as I will auto-lose :)

By Troy Latta (Saaur) on Friday, July 15, 2011 - 02:34 pm: Edit

Crap, need to find time this weekend to buy COs, then. Is the deadline midnight Monday night, or midnight Monday morning (Sunday night)?
I'll be in the mountains until Sunday evening, so...

Yeah Peter, I only wish I could fly as well as I talk smack.

By Mike Johnson (Akira) on Friday, July 15, 2011 - 06:16 pm: Edit

PELADINE COMMAND COMMUNIQUE

PRS FLIPPER
CO D.L. Finn reporting

Central command,

We have reviewed our Commander's Option Items in cargo and are alarmed at their contents. We requested transporter bombs and various other useful items. We instead find a shipment of water polo balls, submersable limpet mines, and large hoops (presumably for Phelan aquabatics). Further, there are muddy Ranel pawprints all over the crates. This is unsuitable for a combat mission. Please respond.

Herd Master Tugar (Kludge) Personal Log:

I have to have a looong talk with seed Master Rus, he has to have been spiking the decks with Loco weed. It's the only explanation I can come up with having seen those ugly bipedal (how in the name of the Great Dam they can avoid falling flat on those ugly faces... never mind) creatures. No sensible quadruped could even believe that these things exist. After this tour is over I'll pout in for retirement to that alphafa field I've had my tymphanic membranes on.

Squadron Status
DW (ady) Moe (97) (*note Federation Translation protocol in effect)
DW (ady) (97) Larry
DWD (d) (85) Curly
all fully supplied.
ships 279+46 CO's

By Kenneth Jones (Kludge) on Saturday, July 16, 2011 - 09:17 pm: Edit

Presumably I wont have a LOCAL opponent since I don't see any other LMC's. All I ask is that I don't draw a Kzinti squadron since Ken made sure the LMC's are extremely vulnerable to seeking weapons.

Ok, so as far as I'm figuring out (now that I'm figuring it out), each Phase (which consists of 4 scenarios) will have a year (as opposed to each scenario), and at the start of each Phase, you outfit your ships with COs, and then can resupply twice during the Phase. Is this a correct understanding?

Isn't 46 over 15%? Might want to check that.

By Kenneth Jones (Kludge) on Sunday, July 17, 2011 - 01:03 am: Edit

It is a touch. Going to lose 3 BPV in practice, 4.15 actually.

14.55 rounds to 15 per each DW
12.75 rounds to 13 for DWD

I'm not to worried since I don't have much I could spend on that would have much effect other than some TBombs extra MD's and some Crew/BP's.

By Mike Johnson (Akira) on Sunday, July 17, 2011 - 06:32 am: Edit

Peter- each scenario could have a different year. In this phase all player v player battles will be Y175, and the year may vary for the other two scenarios based upon their rules.

This could change in future phases. For example next phase I might just say we're in year X for the whole phase.

The year itself is really only relevent in terms of what ships and technology are available.

By Mike Johnson (Akira) on Sunday, July 17, 2011 - 06:33 am: Edit

Oh and yes you have a correct understanding of how COs work.

By Peter D Bakija (Bakija) on Sunday, July 17, 2011 - 09:42 am: Edit

Hmm. The year is relevant in how many points ships have for COs and what COs are available too.

If we have scenario X be set in y175, and have all the COs purchased in y175, and then the next scenario is set in y185, ships will possibly be more expensive (due to later war refits) giving them more points for COs, and different COs will suddenly be available (Drogues and fast drones, say). Which seems wonky.

Not that this needs to be changed or anything. Just clarifying things.

By Troy Latta (Saaur) on Sunday, July 17, 2011 - 09:18 pm: Edit

Kludge:
COs don't round (up OR down). You get what you get. If you can't spend it all, well then you're not giving your opponent too many extra victory points.

By Kenneth Jones (Kludge) on Sunday, July 17, 2011 - 10:37 pm: Edit

A3.5 .4999 goes down .5 goes up. Unless otherwise specified and under S3.2 there is no round up/down specification.

By Troy Latta (Saaur) on Monday, July 18, 2011 - 10:29 am: Edit

Son of a gun. I could have sworn there was a specific exception, but it sure doesn't seem to be supported by the rules!

By Josh Driscol (Gfb) on Monday, July 18, 2011 - 02:08 pm: Edit

Well the least expensive CO's I can think of are 0.1 BPV for transporter artillery rounds. I have never rounded the numbers up or down on CO BPV I just keep and don't spend the fractional points for my ships.

Akira has my CO's and hasn't found a problem with them, so I suppose all is good, but im ISC and there's not alot to buy.

By Mike Johnson (Akira) on Monday, July 18, 2011 - 02:26 pm: Edit

Yeah most people have more than they can spend, at least than they can spend on stuff that will actually be useful :)

Peter- to your point yes there could be a modest increase in the number of COs available in later year scenarios, and what is available does change.

I will say that the only scenario that does not take place in Y175 this phase is the last one (Lurker in the Deep)- it takes place a bit later.

By Peter D Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, July 18, 2011 - 02:47 pm: Edit

So on a completely hypothetical basis, if they wanted all ships to come with 10 (or more) extra boarding parties all the time, why not just give them those 10 extra boarding parties and cut out the middle man?
