Peter,
Can you use the "Send Feedback" so that I can see the errors in the log?

By Peter Thoenen (Eol) on Sunday, December 04, 2011 - 03:33 pm: Edit

Will do if I see it again

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Sunday, December 04, 2011 - 07:29 pm: Edit

Peter,
Stupid question: This was the same game, correct? (i.e. between sessions)

By Peter Thoenen (Eol) on Monday, December 05, 2011 - 10:26 pm: Edit

Yes BUT shouldn't I have gotten the new update when I first logged on (i.e. before I seen the first scenario)

Another tweaking idea that may have been mentioned before-- I only play tourney so my thought here is based on that. It would be helpful if when I put 8 into a plasma tube that the default setting be an enveloper when I launch it. I sometimes forget to go to expendables to change the load so have to close down ia, make the change, and then re-open ia. Not a huge deal of course. Thanks.

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Wednesday, December 07, 2011 - 08:54 pm: Edit

Jon,
I would love to do this. But I would like it to be able to detect this all the time. (6 for enveloper G, 3 Standard G or F, etc).

Hmm, I have an idea. What if I let people use annotations after power to set the plasma expendable. Like:

e for Enveloper
shot for Shotgun
s for Standard
r for Rolling Delay

For example, 6e for (Enveloper Plasma-S), 2r for (Rolling Delay). Tough one would be 3s because that could mean Standard Plasma-F or Plasma-G.

Thanks Paul, your idea would work for me. Anyone else have any ideas?

By Ken Lin (Old_School) on Wednesday, December 07, 2011 - 09:09 pm: Edit

I like it (I pretty much do it already).

Paul, following up on an earlier issue - any plans to have text fire appear in the Summary log? (hoping...)

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Wednesday, December 07, 2011 - 09:58 pm: Edit

Ken,
The only thing I can think of is to add the first line of any text entered to the text fire to the summary and the rest is considered details.

By Ken Lin (Old_School) on Wednesday, December 07, 2011 - 09:59 pm: Edit

Sounds great!!

By Paul Scott (The_Rock) on Thursday, December 08, 2011 - 12:19 am: Edit

In the case of 3s you could have it look one column left 1 means F, 2 means G.

There is also the issue of start of game. For that you need to add: (In addition to the 2r you listed) 1h, 2h and 0h.

Paul,
Good point.

Ooh! As long as we're making changes, can we have the shield cracker/web-breaker step explicitly added and remove those items from the direct-fire menu? It's confusing to my opponents when I fire the SCs in the Marines step, then declare them again in DF just to get the weapon status to update.

Ok got another idea-- It would be cool if the client provided potential pseudo speeds in the event of a tractor between two units. Using something like the range tracker, I would select my ship and indicate whether or not I am using impulse and then select a target ship for the tractor. I would get potentials speeds calcuations back based on current speeds, as I can't know whether or not my opponent is using impulse for movement:

My Ship Speed -He is using impulse = x speed
He is not using impulse = x speed

His Ship Speed -He is using impulse = x speed
He is not using impulse = x speed

For me the rules are a little complicated and it takes me a while to make the calculation. I think I get it wrong half the time. There is obviously huge potential impacts here when trying to time seeking weapon impacts, managing turn modes, and so on.

Just a thought, thanks for consideration.

Paul,
While Jon is talking about tractors, is there a way to get the client to handle multiple tactor links ?

Thanks.

Cheers

Paul, request for feature.

Encountered a problem in a three player game. Third player transferred ships, but apparently a mine he laid remained on the map. Anyway, client thought he was still there after he bugged out. As a result when the remaining two players called IA the client kept waiting and waiting for the third player to input IA (which he couldn't do since he wasn't there anymore).

Would be nice to have a feature where an active player can boot out a non-active player so that this IA issue doesn't come up again.

Paul, request for another feature.

Right now, if you input orders for shuttle launch the client "forgets" those orders so you have to re-input them every time someone selects some activity before shuttle launch in the same impulse (kind of like the problem we had with fire before). It would be nice to have a feature like with firing where the client remembers what orders you gave for shuttle launch so you don't have to click on bunches of shuttles every time the IA window opens up before you get to shuttle launch. Thanks.

Paul,
I just updated the client last night.
I noticed there is no longer the option of going in ' Offline mode '.

So I used the ' Authenticated mode ', loaded up my Campaign Master game save and now I am unable to move any pieces around on my Campaign map.
I can add a piece.
I also noticed all the pieces in the Campaign room are now colored grey. They no longer have the Empires colors.

I tried to make me Game Master but client tells me the Game Master is already assigned !
I cannot move pieces around in my individual campaign map for each Empire saves as well.
I have 6 maps on the go , the Master and 1 map for each Empire.

Not sure what to do here ?
I have far too many pieces to count and I do need to move them around but I am unable to do so .
Starting from scratch is not an option I prefer !
:>(

I need to access the pieces ASAP to process the EaW Y169 moves for my Admirals.

Can you help me out please?

Thanks !

Cheers
Frank

Frank,
Try changing the ownership to yourself. In theory, all of the pieces should be assigned to nobody.

Ted,
Just do a sync and it will remove all pieces that is not owned by anybody.

When it comes to the shuttle orders, those should be saved and be restored the next time you bring up the IA window.

Hey Paul-

I am sure someone else has requested this before...but in the event they have not...and this is by far the most important thing you could ever do in the client...ever... will you please, please, please (3 pleases), add the charts D2.32 & D2.33 to the client? Please?

By Andrew J. Koch (Droid) on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 - 08:34 pm: Edit

Paul,
I am, by some glitch, periodically unable to reveal my esgs. View Info works fine. Reveal Info does not. I click it and it does nothing. Also, the opponent can't see the radius rings when I put them up. I can, and an observer can, but the opponent doesn't seem to be able to.

Add it to your list! Thanks :)

Hey, Paul!

Just a couple of things I noticed while monkeying around with the client last night offline ("Authentication Mode" maybe? Just, ya know, not logging onto the server and playing a little solitaire game to figure some stuff out).

A) Apparently if you are off line, you can't type into the chat dialogue? Like, die rolls and IA commands came up, but whenever I tried to type something for notational purposes into the chat box, nothing would happen. Is this supposed to happen?

B) This is totally a minor issue that I'm sure rarely comes up, but is there a better way to deal with Omega Sector Hiver Fighter energy boxes? Currently, it seems like they are handled using the direct fire segment, and selecting them there. Which clutters up the weapon controls and doesn't account for using energy for, like, speed changes, shields, and whatever that isn't guns. Is there a way to make the boxes on the Fighter Squadron SSDs into clicky-type boxes (like on SSDs) where you could manually mark power use for each fighter?

Thanks!

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Sunday, May 06, 2012 - 08:52 am: Edit

Peter,
a) That is the way it currently works. Though, you have a point that it should allow it for notational purposes.

b) Omega Fighters are a special beast. They are fighters that have energy. I should be able to support boxes that represent energy and have that tracked.

By Peter D Bakija (Bakija) on Sunday, May 06, 2012 - 06:20 pm: Edit

I was messing around today with the Barb fighters, and the Fire segment use of energy boxes worked reasonably well, but I could see how it might be problematic for, like, speed changes or tractors or something (i.e. using the energy for something other than weapons; mostly in that you might accidentally hit the "fire" button before you mean to in the name of keeping track of energy).
