Also, I'd suggest:
A) Clearing out the plethora of random Andromedan Playtest ships, which are confusing to navigate through. Just leave the current sanctioned model and the current playtest model.
B) Add the Borak TC.
Thanks!

a) Will do.
b) I will need to check with the ADB on using the Borak TC in the Online Client.

I thought of an enhancement for the client, if it could be programmed to recognize when ships were crippled under S2.41.
Specifically the condition B where if 50 percent of the internal boxes are destroyed, all the other conditions are easy to recognize.
Maybe you could have crippled status as one of the pieces of info you can add to the piece info screen with configure, and maybe show it on the SSD window also. There is already a engine doubling status there as well as EW maybe room could be found in that area for a crippled status indicator.
It wouldn't be rules enforcement since it doesnt say what to do differently when crippled only that a unit is crippled under condition B of S2.41 and would save alot of time counting boxes. The player would be responsible for knowing the rules regarding crippled ships, all the client would need to do is count the boxes and do a bit of division.
Is something like this possible?

It is possible to do.

Paul,
I am often not allowed to reveal my ESGs. What could be the cause of this?
By Kenneth Jones (Kludge) on Thursday, May 24, 2012 - 11:02 am: Edit |
The client already effectively does the crippled bit. Just use View info on the ship and you will see how many internals repairs etc it has. Just compare the total against the total # of boxes (which is also listed on the same line)
By William T Wilson (Sheap) on Thursday, May 24, 2012 - 11:05 am: Edit |
I believe this is skewed by sensor, scanner, damcon, armor, and excess damage boxes, all of which are supposed to be excluded from the crippled calculation.

Paul there is one thing I'd like.
The ability to close a private chat window when the person has changed from LFG (or whatever). If I dont get it closed before they change I cant close it until I exit the client even if the chatter is no longer online.
By Clayton Krueger (Krieg) on Saturday, May 26, 2012 - 08:25 am: Edit |
Paul, I still don't see my opponent's 'allocation of damage' info in the log. Is this by design? IIRC it used to be listed, which would allow a player to review his opponent's shield reinforcement.
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Saturday, May 26, 2012 - 09:59 am: Edit |
Ken,
So the issue is, if the person changes their callsign when you have a private chat window, you can't close it?
Clayton,
Nope. It is not by design. I will add this, ASAP.
By Kenneth Jones (Kludge) on Saturday, May 26, 2012 - 11:53 am: Edit |
Paul you hit it right on the head. I have to exit the client to get rid of it even if the person in question has logged off.
I hit Close Tab and well nothing happens. it gets pretty annoying.
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Saturday, May 26, 2012 - 03:38 pm: Edit |
Ken,
Did you have the "Chat Rooms as Tabs" checkbox checked?
By Kenneth Jones (Kludge) on Saturday, May 26, 2012 - 03:45 pm: Edit |
Yes taking your question into account I just unchecked it.
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Saturday, May 26, 2012 - 10:08 pm: Edit |
Ok. I have fixed the issue with the changing call signs and the inability to close the tab.
It will be in the next update.

Who says Andromedans aren't helpful?
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Monday, May 28, 2012 - 10:39 am: Edit |
I have just added the ability to log the internals. It will be in the next update.

It would be very helpful to me to add a button on the Game Control to allow me to multi-select a bunch of units and toggle their visibility (to me).
When planning, it's often helpful to be able to turn off POS/POT/Drones/Plasma see where the ships lie, turn them back on in various combinations to account for turn/slip modes, how seekers on both sides are going to have to be accounted for, etc.

It's possible to hide and show individual counters which you can do by right clicking them (or their entry in game control), although I do not remember what the exact menu item is. Unfortunately, I think you can do it only to one counter at a time. There is also a feature to auto hide entries in game control based on certain rules, but it's broken.

I would like to second the motion to remove POT/POS markers from the target dialogs of weapons fire and seeking weapons (including seeking shuttles)
By William T Wilson (Sheap) on Monday, May 28, 2012 - 10:53 pm: Edit |
For some reason, having POT/POS counters in the target dialog seems to be an issue that only affects some people. I never have seen a POT/POS counter in a target selection dialog.
Also, when I say "only one counter at a time," I mean you must go through the process separately for each individual counter you want to hide or show, not that you can have a maximum of one hidden counter at a time. It would still be better if you could hide/show multiple counters at once...

When it comes to showing only ships in the Game Control, have you tried the "Show Ships Only" filter. (It is the drop down beside the "Remove" button).
I will look into the POS/POT target issue.
By Mike Kenyon (Mikek) on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 - 07:01 pm: Edit |
That'd do it! I'll look for it when I get home.
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 - 08:17 pm: Edit |
POT/POS in the target list is now fixed. It will be in the next update.

Hi Paul, this has been brought up a couple of times before, but adding the 1st line of text fire to the Summary would be awesome.
Thanks,
Ken

Paul,
Unless I'm using it incorrectly, the filter drop down doesn't do what I was asking for.
It filters the list in game control, but I'm looking to filter the view on the BOARD. I've got 95 drones, 25 ships, and 50 POT/POS showing up in on the board. You can't actually SEE anything.
Thanks,
Mike
