How are we doing here ?

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Saturday, September 29, 2012 - 08:01 am: Edit

I am doing well on the conversion tool for the definition tool. I should be done today. There is one last case I want to cover and then I will be done with that portion.

Note: I still have not gotten around to integrating the new SSD into the Weapon Status/Expendables stuff. But that is something I will be working on as the new SSD definitions start rolling in.

So you have me on your list of "maker of Defs", right? What's the next step?

By Kenneth Jones (Kludge) on Saturday, September 29, 2012 - 05:17 pm: Edit

hand still raised. You know I'm in. I've done defs before and will be willing to do more again.

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Saturday, September 29, 2012 - 07:19 pm: Edit

Thank you guys. As soon as I release the next update. I will start sending out backgrounds and a old definitions to do.

By Jon Berry (Laz_Longsmith) on Saturday, September 29, 2012 - 09:35 pm: Edit

I'm in for helping out with Def's. Work is slimming hours down, so I have a few more in the week to work on such things.

By Francois Lemay (Princeton) on Saturday, September 29, 2012 - 10:03 pm: Edit

I'm still in to help.

By Josh Driscol (Gfb) on Saturday, September 29, 2012 - 11:50 pm: Edit

Put me on the list too.

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Wednesday, October 03, 2012 - 09:36 pm: Edit

Client update has been released. Unfortunately, I will be leaving for a retreat tomorrow morning. I will be able to send out defs and background images on Monday. (I might be able to get some out tomorrow totally depends on time)

By Randy Blair (Randyblair) on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - 12:49 am: Edit

Raises hand. Put me on the list, too, please.

By Kenneth Jones (Kludge) on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - 08:45 am: Edit

He's got a list and he checking it twice...

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - 10:35 pm: Edit

Ok. I think I have things ready. I am planning on sending two files.

1) The background image file.
2) A zip file with the old ship definition files.

Before I send out the files I need to know that people know how to unzip the zip file. I think Windows Vista and Windows 7 have something built in, but I am not sure.

By Paul Scott (The_Rock) on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - 11:45 pm: Edit

Yes, anyone with modern Windows can do it natively.

By Matthew Potter (Neonpico) on Thursday, October 11, 2012 - 12:44 am: Edit

And us Linux-types can get it from sourceforge if it's not already part of their distro:

By Josh Driscol (Gfb) on Thursday, October 11, 2012 - 01:48 pm: Edit

I can unzip files.

By Jon Berry (Laz_Longsmith) on Thursday, October 11, 2012 - 02:05 pm: Edit

Zip, Unzip, RAR, anything you hand me, I can take. Although I may have to go digging for something to handle .7zp files.

By Francois Lemay (Princeton) on Thursday, October 11, 2012 - 02:52 pm: Edit

I've unzipped files before.

By Kenneth Jones (Kludge) on Thursday, October 11, 2012 - 07:00 pm: Edit

I know that I can just have to dig.

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 - 10:25 pm: Edit

First set of defs and background images have been sent out.

They are for:

Klingon D7 - Kenneth Jones
Klingon D6 - Paul Scott
Klingon D5 - Frank Lemaay
Klingon F5 - Joshua Driscol
Klingon C8 - Randy Blair

By Josh Driscol (Gfb) on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 - 10:33 pm: Edit

I just got my first ship to do the lovely Klingon F5 and refits. Has to be at least 15 of those 3000 SSD's.

But im having a little trouble with a few things.

In the past there has always been an area for HET and Breakdown and turn modes etc to the left of the SSD. Using the settings in the email there isnt alot of room for those things and the track boxes.

Another small issue is where do you put the disruptors, its giving me one box for 2 disruptor's to place and im wondering where it should go since I cant have one on each warp engine.

The boxes its generating are pretty large and transparant, the aft hull secion is jammed with boxes, the boom boxes dont fit inside the boom they overlap a bit. Are the boxes going to be transparant when you play? If so there going to be very hard to read.

What would be really helpful is one completed SSD that I could refer to when doing my ships, so I can see what they should look like when finished.

Paul:
Did you intend to specifically limit that list? (perhaps for beta-test reasons)
Or did you forget about me?

By Jon Berry (Laz_Longsmith) on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 - 01:17 am: Edit

I suspect this is the first public test. I have also volunteered, and the Feds are a high priority for work as well.

I hope this goes well so that Paul can accelerate the 3rdGen conversions.

Slight hiccup at my end.
I am unable to open the zip files.

Computer wants to go to the internet to get a program to open up the .def's.
Not sure what it is looking for ?

Do I need to download some thing or go buy a program to unzip ?

Thanks.

Cheers
Frank

Another hiccup.
I get to step 8 and I am unable to import the old ship definition a sit seems my folders are empty ?

Very strange as I can load up the ship when I am playing SFBOL ?

Do I need to down load the library again ?

Cheers
Frank

Frank,
What is your OS? I can direct you to a .zip extractor, just need your sys info.

Paul,
I completed the D6 and sent you the .def. Would like to chat before going further. Easier by voice with us both looking at the same .def.
