The "Type" column will show whether it is "Cast" or not. Looks like there is no way to show the strength at the moment in the list. I will fix that in the next update.

Can anyone explain to me how the fighter loadouts work?
I keep looking at them but the screens are unintuitive - it gives out of sequence numbers for a fighter and I'm not sure what they represent, and then some of the drop down items don't show anything.
I'm sure it must be easy, but it's not making sense to me.
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Saturday, December 22, 2012 - 12:35 pm: Edit |
The fighter loadouts are for drones. You need to have a library of the different drones that you like to use. The numbers are there to denote a weapons mount. The drop down should list all of the drone types that you have defined.

Ah, I see, I thought that dogfight drones were already in there, but it had to be put in.
Is there an easy way to just give all the fighters the same loadout or do you have to do each one?
By Josh Driscol (Gfb) on Sunday, December 23, 2012 - 03:04 pm: Edit |
As far as I know you have to do each one. But maybe somebody else knows a trick I dont.

Pete,
That is a feature yet to be added.

So whats the scoop on plasma fighters, we've had alot of trouble recently getting them to launch plasma. Plasma loads on the fighter fine but the weapons dont show up on the launch plasma torpedo table in impulse activity. `

Are megafighters in the client?

Nope

Okay another question. I started EA and now I realized that I have one of my ships wrong. If I submit the EA for turn 1, I can add ships, but then my EA will be starting on turn 2.
Is there any easy way to just go back and replace the ship I have wrong?
By Josh Driscol (Gfb) on Friday, December 28, 2012 - 05:33 pm: Edit |
I sent you an email on it. Dont think there is any easy way to change ships after EA is started other than by submitting a blank turn 1 EA, changing ships and then doing your turn 1 EA in the turn 2 EA column.
Like I explained in the email if you save your game often and under a different file name you can go back to an earlier save game where you hadnt opened turn 1 EA and make the change.

Right now I'm trying to figure out how to use the type III multi warhead drones. I've put together a drone and saved it, but it won't show up in the drop down menu when I try to load racks or fighters.
And there is a III-MF drone that shows up - even when I delete it it shows up available for a rack. I tried to play with it, but no of no way to get the submunitions to work.
Does anyone know how to handle this?
By Pete DiMitri (Petercool) on Friday, December 28, 2012 - 11:11 pm: Edit |
Or is it just that you remove the MW drone at some point and replace it with Type VI drones? Does the client keep track of this like a scatterpack?
By Josh Driscol (Gfb) on Saturday, December 29, 2012 - 04:05 pm: Edit |
Ive never used MW drones on the client. Ill have to fool around with it and see if there automated in any way. You would think it would be pretty simple to have it work like a scatter pack.
In a worst case scenario you can always add the drones manually at the point the MW drone releases.
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Sunday, December 30, 2012 - 08:30 am: Edit |
Sorry the MW drones are not automated.
By Pete DiMitri (Petercool) on Sunday, December 30, 2012 - 09:05 am: Edit |
Hi Paul,
Got it, but my question is how do you actually launch the submunitions from them, even manually?
When you try to place a drone on the board, the client asks for a launching unit, and that unit cannot be a drone.
Josh's solution was to add a ship in the hex of the MW drone and then have it launch the submunitions. I guess this can be done, but it's a clunky way of doing it.
Is there another way?
By Josh Driscol (Gfb) on Sunday, December 30, 2012 - 09:38 am: Edit |
It is clunky, the other way would be to right click the board in the hex of the bus drone and add multiple pieces or one drone at a time.
The problem is when you go to add a seeking weapon to the board it automatically removes one from the ships drone racks.
There is the same problem for plasma, at WS III you should get a ECP ready in the shuttle bay but when you go to add it it will remove one of your pseudo's from a ships plasma supplies.
Both situations are less than ideal but theres anohther problem with drones and add racks on some ships being duplicated. When you go to launch drones the ADD racks show up as normal drone launchers. But for direct fire the add racks work well.
These are things im hoping get worked on eventually, but the truth is carriers dont see alot of use on the client and the programming time is probably better spent on other projects.

I wonder if there is any way to get the bit of code that takes drones out of your racks and PPT's out of the plasma launch tubes disabled.
Maybe disableing that code isnt the best way, what you could do is add the option where it asks what unit launched the seeking weapon you could add an entry for no ship, that would let you pluck the drones out of the Aether and not screw up your drone loadouts on the ships.
The alternative to a ship would be to fill an admin thats not really in the battle with the submunitions for a MW drone move them to off board till a MW drone reaches its release conditions. Then in the MW release stage you would say what drone the bus vehicle is and then move the off board scatter pack to the hex and blossom it. Then discard the scatter pack counter. When you blossom an SP it gives each drone the designation SP001, 002 etc, you cann change that SP to MW to keep them seperate from SP drones.

Question, is it possible to play both sides in SFBOnline?
By Josh Driscol (Gfb) on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 - 11:12 am: Edit |
Yes, just add extra ships in a regular SFB game.
It would be alot harder in a tournament game you would need to run the client twice and would have to go back and forth between each sides window to make every move.

How does this ranking thing work?
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Tuesday, June 04, 2013 - 06:30 pm: Edit |
Your ranking is based off of your SUPR rating.
