Josh,
I like your idea, though it does seem a fair amount of work. I had considered something like that, then thought of the solution that Matt is using.
Currently debating if it would be possible to color highlight rows in the inventory grid that have a move this impulse that they haven't yet used?
What I find is that I've got a 100 drones out, and I've moved 94. Then I end up in a loop where:
* I hit IA
* Read the first 1-2 drone names
* Find and move them
* Repeat

I do use the technique you and Matt are using.
I wish configure had programmable preset configurations with all the information you want on the piece info display for the game your playing.
It would also be nice if you could import drone loadouts from say a spreadsheet or other file type.
But these aren't really bug reports we should probably discuss this in the client improvements thread.

Perhaps what you need is just another column on the units list that shows whether each unit is scheduled to move, has already moved, or does not move, for the current impulse. Then you could just sort on that column if you need to.

That feature is already available if you go into configure and add move status to your configuration.

Josh and I are playing a Klingon vs. Peladine fleet battle and none of the Peladine weapons systems show up on my "Opponent Weapon Status" tab.

The new update has a number of issues we've discovered so far.
The seeking weapon status issue seems to be fixed only for some units others still don't show launches.
But the big one is the direct fire segment seems to be missing the fire table. It still has the table for all the aegis segments so that's what were using but somehow the normal fire stage lost its table.

Josh,
Can you send me feedback? Because the seeking weapon thing should be fixed for all seeking weapons.
When it comes to the fire segment, I think you are looking at the wrong spot for it. It is in under "Fire Allocation" segment. The easiest way to get there is by using the "Quick Segment Selection" drop down which is next to the "Execute" button.

Another little issue was tractor links not working.
I will send a feedback when we resume the game later today.
The weapon status was fixed for the majority of units but for some reason the D6D wasn't being cooperative.

Paul I can neither create rooms or enter rooms. This is the same machine that also occasionally prevents me from saving games and will not allow me to reveal info...
Don't know if it's the update or the machine...

Sent Feedback.

Josh,
What do you mean tractor links are not working? Can you specify the steps that you are doing?
When it comes to the D6D was this from a saved game or a newly added ship?
Andrew,
The easy solution is just to uninstall and download the latest release and re-install. If do not want to do that, then I think the issue is that the sfb.jar file is corrupted. To resolve that you need to bring up the folder where you installed the client and go into the "plugins" sub-folder. There will be a file sfb.jar. Delete that file and then start the client and update the client. Restart the client and the issue should be solved.

It was a saved games D6D.
When I tractored I announced it in IA.
Selected my ship on the piece info screen, hit the tractor button and attach button and then selected both drones. I then moved my ship the next impulse and the drones were not pulled along with my ship even though the client still showed them to be tractored.
We then released tractors and tried re attaching with the same procedure but got the same results.

Josh,
Did you check with your opponent? Did they get prompted to allow the tractoring of the drones? And if so, did they click on "Ok"?
By Josh Driscol (Gfb) on Monday, January 06, 2014 - 05:27 pm: Edit |
He did and he clicked ok.
I just tested it in a game by myself and it works fine so I really don't know what could have been the problem.

Got in early to play a game today. Realized I'd left myself logged in to the server for a day or so, logged out and logged back in. Now ..
a) it won't me be me because I'm logged in
b) I don't appear in any user list or in any room.

I'm posting a bug report for a new SFBOL subscriber who doesn't have his BBS account yet.
His Callsign is Ramon, he signed up overnight and has the latest version of the client installed, but can't see any SSD's except for the tournament ships.
I told him to send in a feedback to help you diagnose his problem, he's hoping to watch or play some SFB today.
Thanks Paul

Death Bolt racks on user-defined ships do not place a death-bolt unit (marker + entry in unit list) upon "drone" launch

Paul, 'charlie' is unable to make a room and when he is in one, he is unable to switch over to player mode.
Is there some thing he can do ?
Thanks.
Cheers
Frank

Frank,
Did "Charlie" do an update lately? If so, has he tried to uninstall and re-install the client?

Ok so, the 3rd gen D5 ssd wont launch drns from drn rack 1, at all, it says it does but the drns are not put in play or removed from the rack.
Also in general the 3rd gen ssds don't have any info on them, TM, weapons charts, BD, reloads, nothing. Is that as intended? Its frustrating.
Lastly the only d5 ssd's avail seem to be the 3rd gen, which is very disappointing as they are bugged and have no info, unusable really. Can we get the 2nd gen ssds back?
By Francois Lemay (Princeton) on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 - 07:13 pm: Edit |
Paul,
Justin is correct, I loaded up a D5D and launched 6 drones but only rack 2 and 6 actually launched a drone.
Cheers
Frank

There was a glitch in the 2Gen SSDs where I would get that behavior if there was an ADD reach with the same label as a drone rack. Any chance that just carried over when the 3rd G SSDs were made?
By Matthew Potter (Neonpico) on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 - 08:57 pm: Edit |
That is by design with the new SSD format. This way you can only play the game electronically if you have a paper copy sitting next to you.

Justin,
I have found the issue with the drones. I will be releasing an updated client, ASAP.
When it comes to the other information. There has never been weapons charts in the Online SSDs. The BD is still there. The information about refits will not be coming back. When it comes to the TM, it is available in the Speed Plot window, as column in Game Control Window. If you need to know how turn modes are broken down then there is a chart elsewhere in the client. The BPV will not be coming back. That is available via other products available from ADB.
No I can not make available the 2nd Gen SSDs. If you

Regarding the new update:
Fixed issue with automatic allocation of damage to general boxes (L Warp, FHull, etc) not selected the upper left hand box
I figured that was a feature, so that you could allocate marines to that box and it wouldn't be destroyed until the last moment. That way when the other guy did a H&R, he'd do it to the one the client saw as guarded. This way you can guard your whole Left-warp engine the way the rules say you're supposed to.
