And thank you John Steele for getting it. :) We're old.

Annex G-3 changed when Jindarian Bombers begin service. The earliest is Y172. I ran into that doing a Battle group for captains log. Mind You my 2005 edition agrees with you. What the GM decides is what is important. You need those bombers.

By John Stiff (Tarkin22180) on Wednesday, May 04, 2016 - 07:15 pm: Edit

Ah well, G3 is the most recent official work on the subject - correcting the YIS. G2 (which I have) is acceptable for gaming purposes. G2's first Jindarian bomber is the Comet-1 Y172. There is agreement on that between the annexes.

As our game setting starts in Y155, Jindarian bombers are a mute point for a while. Knowing what one can and cannot have affects the initial setup. So, based on the new latest greatest info, I'm sticking with my original setup.

Mike,

Are you going to list the races and who's running them and what's still open?

I picked "fun" numbers for the MRR progress to date and progress per turn. Odds are that you'd have 1.5% or a multiple of said. There are occasionally rules for a specific empire that adjust MRR specifics.

Jind single space fighter is, per G3, the Meteor-1, YIS 169. Bomber- Metorite-1, YIS 172.

Terrain in GC doesn't include asteroids (perhaps if one is foolish enough to attack Tholian space it does). Remember- GC is very similar to F&E.

One never really knows what lurks behind the webs.

Last I saw ISC and Triaxians were still available but don't know now. If there are still races available after others have had a chance I have someone who has expressed an interest. But that would put two people in the same household in the game so we are waiting to see how the next day or so goes.

By William Gary Glattli II (Wglattli) on Wednesday, May 04, 2016 - 08:06 pm: Edit

For what it is worth, I am playing the ISC. Maybe I missed it but, does anyone know who is playing the Canad'iens? And yes Roy, I will be sending you an email either later on today or tomorrow. Trying to figure out what to do with this initial build right now...

Initial builds are overrated- by the book I've got (checks things)- Vul, WB, H-S, and SnS choices (maybe a few more if you count the Y2 units). This is not hard. What is taking everyone else so much time? :-)

The Federation initial build has already been sent in.
(we are weak)... start something with us... PLEASE!!!

Gregory S Flushe:
(Annex G-3 changed when Jindarian bombers begin service).

Yes G-3 is the correct one to use.
My module F1 reference is superceded by the G-3 Annex.

After thoroughly digesting the rules changes that Mike has instituted for U6, I am reluctantly resigning. Good luck to you all in the campaign.

4 days left till start up turn is due. Still missing 8 empires.

ISC & Triaxian still available.

Hi Kurt,

It is OK. There are a few players of the same family playing Galactic Conquest.

We have the Steele brothers.

We have Ken Riffle and his son.

We have the GM and his son.

We have Lucky and his father.

For me, it is about having FUN! The more the merrier.

By Howard Bampton (Bampton) on Friday, May 06, 2016 - 02:51 am: Edit

Berg father & son in case it was unclear which GM was being referred to.

My father and I played back in the late 80s/early 90s (and John B did his due diligence to verify that there were in fact two Bamptons).

Folks caught two of my semi humorous references in the example MRR. No one noticed the F5 model pseudo fighter carrier...

By John Stiff (Tarkin22180) on Friday, May 06, 2016 - 11:14 am: Edit

Didn't notice it. My eyes glaze over at the variety of Romulan ships. There are 7 pages listed in G2. (In comparison, the ISC has but 3 pages). I do not know what the Romulan "base" ships are. It is easy to sneak in a "F5 model pseudo fighter carrier" in an example.

By Kurt Byanski (Kurtski) on Friday, May 06, 2016 - 11:56 am: Edit

The Tholians should have one page and the Neos should have a half page. It keeps the builds simple.

By Howard Bampton (Bampton) on Friday, May 06, 2016 - 12:49 pm: Edit

Romulan base hulls would be, in part:
KCN BB, Con DN, SHR DNL, SupA/SupK (NCCish), NHA/NHK (useless junk I'll probably never build until the NHX comes out), FHA/FHK (NCAish), FFHA/FFHK (fast NCA), SPA (CW), SKA (DW), Sea (FF), SBH (DWH)- there are other New Hawks but they are likely to be pretty rare and/or conjectural. The ones I listed one can expect to encounter (or at least I'd give serious thought that they would be worth building).

Old Series:
Vul/WVL/KVL (DN), WB/WE/KE (CA/CL), H-S/BH (DD), SnS/SnA/SnB (FF)

X ships:
NHX (CCX), KEX (CCX), FHX (NCAX), SPX (CWX), SKX (DWX), SEX (FFX).

In GC, the Kestrels are rare (none in the final incarnation of U1, none in U4).

The unit that carries around F5s is a reference to a Klingon ship (which doesn't have a Romulan analogue) mentioned about 30-35 years ago in the SFU.

By John Stiff (Tarkin22180) on Friday, May 06, 2016 - 06:04 pm: Edit

That is a lot of "hawks" there. The Romulans must not believe in CL's. Seems they go from heavy cruisers to destroyers. What is your SR? I'm guessing the SE??

By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Friday, May 06, 2016 - 06:17 pm: Edit

PE is a the SE with a cargo pack. SPS is the SPC with a different crew.

By John Stiff (Tarkin22180) on Monday, May 09, 2016 - 11:43 pm: Edit

Does everyone have their "setup" in?

By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Monday, May 09, 2016 - 11:43 pm: Edit

Kzinti in.

By Kurt Byanski (Kurtski) on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 - 12:03 am: Edit

Yep. Tholians are in.

By Howard Bampton (Bampton) on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 - 01:24 am: Edit

Romulan setup went in on time, complete with "showing our work" spreadsheet, and partial calculations for various things so that Mike doesn't have to do them himself.

Romulan ships are quirky. Yes, nothing really resembling a CL in the batch, and technically no BCH either (yes, the KillerHawk and SuperHawk have BPVs in the right range, but they have a command rating of 9- my 10's are all CCX/DN/BB hulls). Our DW also can't make use of HPM; our modern FF has a YIS date far enough out (Y174) that I get creative; our NCC is a base hull so I have a LOT more of them in service (and since they predate the BCH by several years, no one really catches up other than the Lyrans).

The trick for the Romulans is getting to Y175 in one piece. Kestrels (often hampered by C2.45), going all in on R&D (not going to happen in U6), empire special rules (ex: U1's Honor Charge that used to cost me Vultures at a frightening rate), and diplomacy/alliances can mitigate things somewhat. We shall see how things pan out- will this be a repeat of U2 (the only game where the Romulans of this timeframe got their clock cleaned) or U1 (FTR/CW both @ +10Y)/U5(shoe with one of my surprises is about to hit the floor)?
