So this idea would be for a Satilite Basr which is 3/4 the size of a typical SatB (hence the name).
It would be used for observation, as it would be too small to be an RTN. Normally the androstenedione would just use a GWS plopped down on any asteroid to serve the purpose, but there would be some times when that wouldn't be available. It could also be used in the LMC to monitor them during the occupation.
It would simply have 3/4 of th internals of the SatB, but still keep 2. Special sensors to allow it to do its surveillance mission.
Not a great base, but one thatwould be an early warning system for the androstenedione.

Have you looked at the Mobile Listening Post (R1.923)?

It's cute, but it's a galactic unit, it is for the Andros.

Scott, I would love to see new Andro units, so may I play devil's advocate so you can work on a more developed justification for the new base?
How would such a unit work better than a Mobile Operations Sled with a number of MWPs coupled with a Ground Warning Station (from R8 and C3 respectively) since the base you are proposing, as described, cannot be used for RTN purposes?

The idea would be for a deep space listening post for the Andros (and also a smaller target for a 3xDW force to beat on, instead of larger squadrons).
The Andros can always have a "listening post" of a GWS in any system monitoring the nearby space on the ground of a planet, on an asteroid/moon.
So this would be in the middle of no where, dust cloud, edge of nebula, near shipping lane, etc.
The purpose of making it a non-RTN node, is just to ensure that it's not a "significant target" (and play balance, to make it fit historically).

Ken Kazinski:
Please remember that the "listening posts" proposal evolved into the "auxiliary scout" and was formally published as such.
