Some of the folks asking for cease fire agreements, were the ones to start the fights. If the folks asking for the cease fire were truly interested, wouldn't they be bending over backwards to make sure it happened? If party A started a fight, but party B is winning, what advantage is there for party B to stop? If party C takes a bunch of party D's space, but party D is in a position to take it back, why would party D agree to a cease fire. Seems the parties asking for cease fires need to up the ante a bit.

What is being talked about is looking at the bigger picture. Continuing local disputes will only make the galactic enemy stronger as he or she now doesn't have to destroy 2 empire's fleets - we are doing it for him (or her).

The Key Word is "IF".

"IF" party B attacked party A in party A's space and party C was defending party A in party A's space and by happenstance destroyed party B's squadron is party B's attack against party C in party C's space justifiable?

A cease fire agreement, by definition, must be agreeable to all parties in the negotiation.

There is evidence that party D is invading our galaxy. I made the cease fire offer with this in mind. The possibility that one side would disagree was always known. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Don't know. The Federation took out the Beings of Ro Ga some time ago. Their galactic wormhole closed down immediately.
Have there been different "Boogymen" assigned to each of our empires or are we seeing one empire with the ability to open up new holes?
