Half size pods that might function on a theater transport.

EVALUATION: This is an idea we might do sometime. From an engineering viewpoint, there is no reason Star Fleet would not have done it. From a game design standpoint, there are a lot of reason not to do it.

1. Six new pods per empire times about 15 empires.
Cargo, PFT, scout, commando, battle, Carrier.
That's a lot of pages.

2. Is it a good thing to turn theater transports into war destroyers? It seems the people who want this want it so they can abuse it.

3. It would greatly complicate normal tugs and LTTs as you have to account for new movement costs for various combinations of full size, double size, and half size pods.

4. Creates 90 new auxiliary ships, if not more.

Pods with X-Technology that fit on non-x tugs.

This one is seriously dubious but I didn't want the ideas to get lost.

EVALUATION: This is really based on the partial x refit rule that we SOOOOO wish we had never printed.

Assent reserved for the time being.

Fast Drone Raiders: Basically a combintion of a drone bombardment ship with fast engines. Could be really useful (or overbalancing) in F&E. First proposed by Loren Knight.

EVALUATION: the background of the Kzinti BF makes this one problematic.

Assent reserved at this time.

Two obvious variants of the Federation CF:

Take CF, replace the rear hull with that of a F111 CVH carrier.

Take CF heavy scout hull, repeat the same exercise.

Neither were built (AKA unbuilt variants) as the CF had been replaced in production by the NCA fast cruiser variant and the CF heavy scout could never be spared for the conversion.

The arrival of X-ships and particularly the GVX Field Marshall Powell made both designs obsolecent.

EVALUATION: There are no end of available variants for a CF of any empire, but no plausible way any more such ships would have been built. We can always do this but players do not want unbuilt variants or conjecturals, or at least the more outspoken players say they don't.
