bakija(THN) vs Andromedan (TKE)

T1: I move 21/26 (25 moves), TKE moves 24 all turn. We just close straight up the map, slipping towards each other till we are close to centerline. At about R13, I throw up a diagonal 5 hex web to my right side, 4 hexes in front of me. We close a little more. At R7, I fire 2P1s at his #1 for 2 damage, which sees reinforcement. Next impulse, I turn B across his nose, so we end up at R5, my #6 to his #1, web between us, about to be solid this impulse. He shoots up my #6 for 15 with 4P1, I hit him with 5P1, 3OL, 1 std disruptor. All three OL hit, std misses, I do average on phasers for 35 total damage. TKE shows 6 more reinforcement, shield holds at 1 box. For the rest of the turn, he kind of slips wide to my left around the web, I go up my side and turn through it before the end of the turn. We end at about 10 hexes, me facing A, TKE facing B, web between us.

T2: I move 21 all turn and reload things, the TKE moves 24/28/24. The web collapses early on, we just get in a turning war, both counter clockwise. I'm never inside his FA for most of the turn. Late in the turn, I cast a diagonal web right along my FA edge, so I can get that between him and me. I get behind the web about when he gets me in his FA. Neither of us fire anything all turn. We end at about R7 with web between us.

T3: I move 21/26/21 and reload things. TKE moves 24/17/24. He comes around the edge of the web before I can get to the other side, and he gets a R6 FA shot, so he bolts the R torp (1-3) and fires 2P1 at my #5. The bolt misses, he does 2 damage to my #5. I HET directly back at him, get 7P1 on his #6 at R4, roll not super hot, do 22 damage. I skirt along the web, we end up at R2, my #6 to his #5. I hit him with 3P3 for 9, he hits me with 5P3 for 14 or so, leaving my #6 at 2 boxes. I get away behind the web, he turns off and runs some. We end the turn at about 10 hexes, facing in mostly opposite directions.

T4: I move 21/15 (mostly 15), rearm things. TKE goes 24/17. We kind of spiral in again, but have trouble getting in each other's FA. At about R4, TKE launches an F torp. I cast a web that catch it, so I don't get pasted. I get 5P1 on my FH spine on his #3 at R4, do about 18 damage. He gets 4P1 on my #3 for 13 damage. Next impulse, the F torp gets stuck, but he bolts the F at me anyway. It hits for 10, leaving my #3 at 1 box. I am then foolhardy, and HET directly at him. I don't break down. I get 2P1, 4 std disruptors on his #3. Hit with 2 disruptors, do enough damage to drop the shield to exactly 1 after a bit of reinforcement. He doesn't turn off when he can, so I get 2P3 in the same spot at R2 for 7 more damage, hitting 6 armor. He keeps slipping at me (and I see where this is going, and it isn't going to go well for me), so I get 2 more P3s in the same shield, doing enough internal damage to finish off the armor, and hit 1 warp and 3 hull. Yaa!. The next impulse, the TKE slips directly off my 1 box #3, fires 6P3s directly backwards, and does 22 internals, hitting 2P3, the snare, 3 power, 2 batteries, and a disruptor. We separate, ending the turn at range 8, #4 to #4.

My shields are 30-30-0-24-22-2 and I have 22 in.

TKE's shields are 3-30-0-26-21-8, his armor is all gone, 4 in (of which 3 re hull).

On T5, the Romulan has an F torp and possibly a 2 turn F from the second turn of R arming.

The 30 box shields and 10 points of armor turned out to be a significant advantage here; if we just kept doing what we were doing, I was going to run out of shields before he was, so I went for the risky 2nd HET to try and get a leg up. I didn't break down, but ended up hosed anyway due to all the rear arc P3s that I sort of expected, but didn't totally expect (I figured he'd turn off at that point...).

Game will continue some time in the next few days.

Madman (Orion, 2xHB, ph-g, 2xDr-B) over Cadet Stimpy (Gorn)

T1 I double 1 engine, 39 power, 29 movement (start at 26, then change to 31). 9pts of reinforcement spread over 3 shields. Move straight at Gorn (spd 17) who starts moving towards me, at range 14/15 (imp 15) he launches a EPT and turns off to his right. I start slipping left and am able to get extend the plasma to 15 hexes, shooting it with all bearing phasers as ph-3 for -21 pts, next impulse I run over it and realize after checking the rules that I made a mistake and it's movement for the 16th hex doesn't count. So take 44 pts rather than 30. I could have slipped one more time, but I'll remember that now. Dump battery to protect all forward shields and take damage to rear shields. We end at 11 hexes apart and I launch two I-M drones.

T2, I double everything including impulse. Plot 19 until 7, then 31, then slow down to 19 again in the back part of the turn. Overload 1 HB, have 10 rein split across #1 and #6 and a some power in tractors. Dan launches F and C imp 2. I slip a bit and am able to get it to 6 imp for the f torp movement, fire 2 phaser-3 and gat into the f torp taking 9 off of it. Then drive over the torps finding a pseudo S, so after reinforcement only a couple pts to the #1. Keep coming in with him on my 6 facing his 6. He turns in to keep me from his #5, so I slip to range 1, with our #6's facing each other. I launch 2 IV-M drone and shuttle, he shoots my seeking weapons and has no phasers for me. I shoot 4 ph-1 and 2 ph-3, ol HB and a std. Hit well doing 30 phaser + 25 HB (25 to other shields). He has 16 reinforcement with battery which limits me to 9 internals. Rolls though are great, 2 hull, bridge, 3 phasers, f-torp, 2 power.

Next impulse I HET away from him, firing 2 more rear ph-3 in the down shield, getting the other f-torp in 7 internals. He resigns at that point.

If I hadn't got so lucky on the internals it would have been interesting. I didn't do as much damage as I would have hoped for and would be down 4 power myself. I really didn't get any shields hurt on the firing pass, but with no f-torps it's going to be tough for him to face me with Hellbores.

I had real life issues come up (basically I got called up for extra singing/cantoring duties at church and had to attend an extra practice unexpectedly).

Before EA, Paul points out that he had fired 1 too many P3's at me on the previous turn, so I got back 4 internals (a warp, a hull, 2 batteries).

T5: My shields are rough and I'm down 2 power. The TKE's shields are rough, he is down 1 power. I move 10 for a few impulses, and then 15 the rest of the turn, rearm my phasers, refill my batteries, put 3 power in my web caster, hold a weasel, start arming a second weasel, fix a P3, start repairing my snare as a web generator (2 of 6 points). The TKE moves 17 all turn. We again get in a counter clockwise turning fight, and my #6 shield is at 2 boxes, so I need to be careful. We spiral around most of the turn. On impulse 28, I figure I'll need to face him with my 2 box #6 soon, so I cast a W shaped web to my left which is solid on impulse 32. I turn behind the web (I'm facing A, he's facing D), but he doesn't have any P1's in arc. We end at about R6. I get a P3 back, TKE gets 2 hull and a couple boxes on his #1.

T6: I'm behind a web, the TKE gets an R torp this turn. I plot speed 10 till impulse 10, 15 for the rest of the turn, put 5 power in tractors, hold 2 weasels, overload 2 disruptors of the 3 I have left, finish repairing the web generator. The TKE moves 17 all turn. He slips towards me, I turn to face him, and enter the web so my 2 box #6 is facing him, but there is a hex of web in the way. I speed up to 15 so that I move on the next impulse (#11) and 17 does not. I slip into R3 off the TKE's 9 box #5 shield with a clear line of fire. Paul thinks some, and does a 180 degree HET (he is faster than me, so even though he didn't move that impulse, he still could HET after I moved, which I considered a strong possibility, but figured it was better than nothing). We are at R3, my 2 box #6 facing his 30 box #2, no web between us. The TKE launches an R torp, I declare emergency deceleration, I figure I'm going to lose batteries here, so I use 4 of them to overload my 3rd disruptor. I cast web, fire 5P1 and 3OL disruptors. Paul shoots me back with 2P1's. I hit 2/3 OL, roll ok on phasers, do 38 total damage, which takes down the shield and does 8 internals (armor was already gone, hits an F tube). Paul does 6 internals through my #6. I also cast 3 hexes of strength 16 web that will catch the TKE and force a breakdown roll and cause some damage, unless he also emergency decells, so he does. I move a hex, drop to speed zero, launch a weasel, and allocate my last battery to a TAC that I'll be able to do in a few impulses. The TKE slips into the web hex before it is solid, drops to speed 0 at R1, my down #6 to his down #2. He kills my weasel with a couple P3s, the plasma is revealed as the pseudo. I fire 3P3s into his ship under passive fire control for another 8 internals (hits second F tube). TKE fires 3 more phasers into my ship for another 10 internals (which, after the game, it was pointed out that Paul did not suffer the -2 shift we both thought he had, so I probably took about 14 internals there instead of 10, but probably not a game ender. Sorry Paul!). I lose some phasers, more power, a disruptor, but the WC survives so far. A few impulses later, I get to TAC my full #1 at the TKE's down #2, fire a couple more P1s and a P3 on passive, do another dozen in, killing the R torp (and most of his phasers are gone too).

At this point, there is still a possibility that Paul could sink me--if he has 6 in tractor and can launch the R torp, he could grab me, launch the R torp before the 8 impulse destruction window is up, the web he is stuck in drops on impulse 31, and the R torp and some suicide shuttles he has held can all hit me on 32 which, if I'm tractored, I can't do anything about. But sadly, he does not have 6 in tractor. He launches an S torp from the destroyed R tube, I launch my second weasel, and Paul surrenders.

An excellent game, I was sure I was toast. And if I broke down on my second HET on turn 4, I was done then too.

I apparently advance to fight another Romulan.
