>>I can not find anywhere where it states ignore F2.123, or F2.123 does not apply if…>>

(F2.123) is a requirement for seeking weapon movement. Not a requirement for seeking weapon impact. (F2.3) and (F2.5) are all very clear that seeking weapons detonate when their target enters their hex, and at no point is movement required. Just being in the same hex as their target and it being the correct point in the SOP.

If seeking weapons were compelled to move at least once before detonating, there would be no way to ever get feedback from plasma torpedoes (which only happens when you launch plasmas from R0, their target is in the hex, and everything is still in the same hex when the plasmas detonate).

By William T Wilson (Sheap) on Monday, July 27, 2015 - 08:22 am: Edit

(F2.123) is a subsection of (F2.12), which covers only turn modes. (F2.31) is a rule specifically dealing with conditions for impact. There is no exception to (F2.123), it is simply not the correct rule to use.

You are, of course, welcome to ask Andy or SPP, as my answers are not official.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, July 27, 2015 - 01:05 pm: Edit

This issue has been correctly answered.

Whether the target was pulled into the hex of the seeking weapons by some means beyond its control, or entered the hex voluntarily, is irrelevant.

The seeking weapons were not launched in the target's hex. The target entered the hex of the seeking weapons.

While the seeking weapons are required to move directly forward, they were launched at the target which moved directly into them, impact occurs. Rule (F2.123) is overruled by (F2.31), the impact is occurring before the drones move.

My last game in a tournament Orion ship was some time ago, you can double your engines (G15.2), do you have the option to double your Impulse (G15.23) ?

By David Zimdars (Zimdarsdavid) on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 - 09:04 am: Edit

You can double your left warp, right warp, and impulse independently. You make the choice during EA. You are never required to double. Tactically, doubling of the impulse is usually a poor choice. Impulse is easily hit with the DAC and helping it run out is dubious. Impulse tactical maneuvers are too valuable. Also, loosing speed 31 may give your opponent opportunity to go 31 himself and gain movement initiative.

David Zimdars,
Thank you, from memory I can not recall ever doubling the impulse in a tournament. It is important to have the movement initiative, and tactical manoeuvres available.

All good

Which Andromedan is the current Tournament legal one?

The one one this web site here; http://www.starfleetgames.com/discus/messages/12031/39.html?1119663787

The one in the 2012 Tournament book?

Or a newer one?

I know that there has been a fair amount of debate on this, but do not remember what is the current version.

A.David Merritt,

I do not have the 2012 Tournament book, can you tell me does the Andromedan have 2x TRHs or 3x TRLs ?
The one in the ADB Masters Index-Downloads-Tournament Ships has 3x TRLs, 6x ph-2s, 4x battery. It is noted as a playtest, not sanctioned, it is also the only Andromedan in the Master Index.

Wayne, The one you pointed to and the 2012 Tournament* ships are identical, but I will note that the one you pointed to has a "Not Sanctioned" warning.

The one I linked to, comes from the Tourney Topic here**, but is the two TRH version.

Is there a Peruvian tournament ship? Official is best. Play tested and functional almost as good.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Monday, February 24, 2020 - 05:12 pm: Edit

Paravian, perhaps?

Sorry, this just caught my eye.

By Gregory S Flusche (Vandar) on Monday, February 24, 2020 - 05:24 pm: Edit

There is two unsanctioned playtest Paravian Tournament ships in the SFBOL data base

By Steven Zamboni (Szamboni) on Monday, February 24, 2020 - 05:31 pm: Edit

The Peruvian minis are ready just in case.

By Ginger McMurray (Gingermcmurray) on Monday, February 24, 2020 - 06:07 pm: Edit

I wish I could blame autocorrect but my brain actually said Peruvian.

Can I get the ssds without an SFBOL account?

We're doing death rave this weekend and one person wants to play them. We can grab a cruiser but something others have flown is better when looking to balance thing .

By Ginger McMurray (Gingermcmurray) on Monday, February 24, 2020 - 06:10 pm: Edit

Death race. Death rave is a totally different beast.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Monday, February 24, 2020 - 06:44 pm: Edit

Ginger, you shouldn't be able to do that. One of the reasons that the SFBOL SSDs are locked down is because of copyright issues.

The only free tournament cruisers are here: http://www.starfleetgames.com/sfb/tournament/tourn_down.shtml#SSD

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Monday, February 24, 2020 - 06:50 pm: Edit

For totally unofficial ones, you might try a keyword search on the left for +Paravian + tournament, limited to the Star Fleet Battles topic and see what pops up.

I'd prefer to see the Bolivian miniatures, Steven. Are those ready, as well? :)

Is the origin battle raider nimble? I could swear I saw it on there but can't find it now. But it does have the double ke HET bonus.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Saturday, February 29, 2020 - 06:04 pm: Edit

Ginger McMurray:

The largest nimble Orion ship is the Medium Raider, and it simply retains that as it is an upgrade of the slightly smaller Raider Cruiser (and when I retire from the Deep Space Fleet, I want to command a Medium Raider, it is all I would ask of such a ship).

As to the double HET bonus, that is a quality of Orion ship construction, see (C6.521).

The Battle Raider has never been nimble.

By Richard Eitzen (Rbeitzen) on Saturday, February 29, 2020 - 06:25 pm: Edit

What weapon options would you desire on that MR, and why?

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Saturday, February 29, 2020 - 08:24 pm: Edit

Richard Eitzen:

I would take disruptors on the centerline and phaser-1s in the wings.

Probably not the best in a single duel, but I can stay out longer if I do not need to resupply drones or plasma-Ds, and prefer the rapid rate of fire and flexibility of disruptors, and I prefer to avoid confrontations with the minions of the law or the fleet.

Furthermore, I tend to think "real world" and repair parts for phasers and disruptors are far more common and likely to be in the cargo bays of the transports I knock over.
