Chuck Strong:
(C12.38) Warp Restrictions: A ship cannot, at any point in time, use more warp engine power for movement than it had available at the start of the turn. This restriction is in addition to the basic restriction on total movement points expended in (C2.112).
(C12.384) Ships cannot exceed their maximum speed as a result of a speed change,

Right a WE could not go speed 24 for 14 imp (10 moves) then speed change to 12 for the rest of the turn (7 moves) total 17 moves. Max speed is 21 with 1 imp used.

What is the maximum airspeed velocity of an unladen Romulan War Swallow?

Cloaked or uncloaked?

I, I don't know that!

The maximum speed of the WE is 21

Gregory,
sorry, did not read your post properly (I missed the could not go)
By Gregory S Flusche (Vandar) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 11:10 am: Edit |
I ok was wondering if some one would miss read that. Believe me I have tried anything I can think off to get a WE to faster. Only way I know is to upgrade to a KE. Now with the Tractor tricks thing I am going to have to figure out if some how they can move like 24 hexes?

Have you tried a black hole?
By Joe Carlson (Jrc) on Saturday, May 23, 2020 - 09:50 pm: Edit |
At what warp speed will the KE get to in one piece before the black hole tears it apart? A new unmanned sport Black Hole drag racing.

Ref Gorn DDW SSD (R6.91): Is the SSD aft shield #4 correct at 20 boxes in light of the #2/#6 are 14 boxes each and the #3/#5 shields are 10 boxes each?
By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, May 25, 2020 - 11:48 am: Edit |
Chuck Strong:
Yes, the Double Wing Destroyer has a stronger #4 shield.

SPP,
Did any of the empires build transport version of their advanced technology war destroyer or war cruiser?
Second question. Did any of the empires convert a Division Control Ship into some type of advance technology version?
I am not asking these question for any other reason that information.
By Mike Grafton (Mike_Grafton) on Monday, May 25, 2020 - 03:40 pm: Edit |
I would bet that EVENTUALLY, you'd ger FFTX, DWTX and such. But first you'd see X tugs and X LTTs.
A Lyran X combat tug would be a beast with a pallet...
By Mike Grafton (Mike_Grafton) on Monday, May 25, 2020 - 04:22 pm: Edit |
I think that someone would look at the hodgepodge of
FFT
DWT
LTT
Tug
FCR
did I miss any other common "combat ships" that tote cargo?
and more and make a couple/ three designs to do it all. For standardizations sake if hothing else.
By Joe Carlson (Jrc) on Monday, May 25, 2020 - 05:09 pm: Edit |
Mike,
It is a good idea. If these are built there is no reason for the proposed FNTX.
As far as LTT/Tugs and X-carrier or X-battle pods the combination can't be larger than size class three (SC3(. The standard technology pods that make the combination SC2, the pods could be carried as inert cargo.

Joe Carlson:
And how can I answer those questions without committing to do or not do the ships? Seriously.
By Joe Carlson (Jrc) on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 - 12:26 pm: Edit |
Understand. Sorry.
By Jeff Wile (Jswile) on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 - 01:59 pm: Edit |
The Federation POL class ships (and selected variants as I recall) have two cargo boxes each. As do some (not all) Federation carrier escorts (DEA for example.)
By Mike Grafton (Mike_Grafton) on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 - 07:02 pm: Edit |
Actually, I would be hugely in favor of eliminating weapons on pods.
I mean a darn tug with 2 battle pods could kill a cruiser? What the heck?

When do the Romulans switch from their terrible sub-light freighters to FTL freighters like the rest of Alpha?
I can't find the answer anywhere in any R1 or R4 sections, but I might have missed it.
My guess is Y158 with Smarba, but I could see it being as late as 161 which is when they finally get their monitor.
By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Thursday, May 28, 2020 - 05:47 pm: Edit |
Shawn Gordon:
Y161 is the general date of service for general units of the Middle Years for the Romulans (Y120 for non-Romulans).
By Shawn Gordon (Avrolancaster) on Thursday, May 28, 2020 - 08:24 pm: Edit |
Awesome, thanks!
Out of curiosity, where is it written?
By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Friday, May 29, 2020 - 01:20 pm: Edit |
Shawn Gordon:
Romulan Master Starship Book lists various General Unit, and while the Freighters are not specifically listed, all of the General Units have an inservice date of Y161.
By Ken Kazinski (Kjkazinski) on Saturday, May 30, 2020 - 09:10 pm: Edit |
Chuck,
For the Romulan WE question, don't forget house keeping will limit the speed for the turn.
The Gorn DDW, my R9 (pg 43) shows the #4 shield to have only 18 shield boxes and not 20. Which makes the #1 & # 4 shield 18 boxes.
