I have had several windows open; 'impulse chart' screen, 'my weapon status', 'opponent weapon status' and have been arranging these windows on a second monitor for game play. When I close the impulse chart screen or uncheck the 'floating windows/impulse chart' it returns to a tab on the tab bar. Same thing with 'my weapon status', but the 'opponent weapon status' simply disappears, not returning to be a tab on the tab bar.

I am trying to update the client with a new look to the UI without totally revamping the client which would take at least 6 months of work. And I have no idea how to update the client's look.

I like the current UI.

New look is probably easy. If you could get permission to use some art from ADB you could lighten a ship background till it's not a distraction and use it as the bullpen chat area background.

I was thinking something like a top down view of the Federation Heavy Cruiser. It would need to be very light and the chat font may need changed to something bolder so it stands out and stays readable.

It doesn't really do anything to help the UI functionally but it would give the screen a new look.

It could be other artwork they have that would be of interest to SFU gamers, a deck plan might work if it was lightened up enough that chat was still easy to read.

A functional improvement to the UI that could be easy to add would be the ability to link a copy of the rules or some other PDF product and add the ability to view that information in a game window. It's a lot of work to have to go back and forth between your PDF program and the client.

Here is a crazy one, how about a media player built into the client so you can load up a music playlist to play in the background during the game. Even cooler would be giving players the ability to broadcast that music to the observers, or other players in the game. I know a few players use voice chat but it would be cool to have all that built in.

Another crazy idea would be to have a new weapon chart button that would gather a list of all the weapons needed in the game. The way I have my UI configured I always calculate damage on the piece information screen. It would be neat if you could dock charts to the piece information screen. If you ccould add to the weapon chart a pull down for allocate damage to and let the player select the sship from the pull down list.

Anything to give it more of a multi media look would add to the attraction for me.

Maybe the games currently playing coul be listed in rows by game type. I picturing something like Netflix page shows programs. Each game would be depicted as a tile, maybe add information like who the players are. Maybe have it show what turn and impulse the game is on.

Most of the games I've seen recently have been tournament. It would be kind of cool if the tiles were a mini map and you could see the relative positions of the ships. But there may not be enough real estate on the main game screen for a system like that.

Maybe a link to buying SFU products directly from the client and then have them be download into your module library or shipped to you. It's a potential point of sale for the universes games as well as an untapped resource for advertising new products and specials that might be running.

Another feature that would be cool to see added to the client is the ability to view and post to the ADB BBS if you have registered with to use this site.

If there was some way to link Facebook SFU pages to the client, ADB has one and there is at least one player group. If you could tell who was logged in and playing from a mobile device it might stimulate more people to log in.

I think there is a lot that could be done to give the client a new look without totally revamping. Add some color to it, if you can get ADB permission use some of the best art from the 3rd Gen project or any SFU project like the deck plans. As long as it's not too big a distraction when chatting then it could be used as a background. I'm thinking the Fed CA lightened about 80-90 percent maybe more.

Most of the other ideas are just linking ADB products into the client better. I have no idea how hard that would be to do in terms of programming.

I was playing the Gorn BB. It has four plasma D racks, but they didn't show up in the 'Plasma Launch' window. Do you launch them some other way or am I missing something?

I made the Gorn BB and concur the plasma D racks do not show up in the launcher window in IA orders.
Will inform Paul.

In the meantime, launch them manually being sure to announce you are launching D plasmas.

Empires not available are Hydrans, Paravians, Klingons, Kzinti, Federation.

Empire to replace is the Frax but you can select a different empire if you wish. We have a nice little option to allow you to replace existing Frax ships!
