On a broader note, it would be interesting to go into more detail on what other extra-galactic routes will be made to exist (or be discovered to exist, in the case of dormant Rapid Transit Network routes) in the X2-ship era.

It's known that the Holdfast Tholians will launch an expedition to the Tholians of Draco in Y207. Would this require a drawing down of the Tholian forces in the LMC post-Unity, or would there be a "political" need to retain at least a nominal presence in the Cloud? How many bases would need to be established as waypoints between the Holdfast and Draco? (There need not necessarily be the same number of bases placed as on each Unity route, depending on the distances involved.) What kind of assets will the Holdfast be able to deploy in Draco proper? And at what point would the other Alpha empires realize what was going on?

Also, the events covered in the latter portion of the Sakharov article in Captain's Log #51 revolve around an RTN route the Andromedans had established between the LMC and the Omega Octant. This does not mean that other routes did not exist; I'd personally suggest that at least two more routes existed, to match those postulated in the "Operation Renaissance" simulator exercise also in CL51. Nor, for that matter, has it been spelled out how the Andros targeted the extra-galactic Iridani Cluster. Perhaps, once knowledge of the first route becomes more widespread, other Omega empires with access to the Galactic Rim might launch searches of their own to find such routes... or might even consider launching expeditions of their own to the LMC.

And the portion of this week's data from the ESA's Gaia mission looking at the Magellanic Clouds notes that, among other things, the Magellanic Bridge connecting the Greater and Lesser Magellanic Clouds is more prominent than was hitherto believed. Is there a point on this LMC map where the Bridge connects? Would the Andromedans have established a chain of satellite bases along it? And, if so, what might the post-Unity task forces find if they were to assign units to investigate it?
