Yeah, I got a R1 shot with 3xOL, 6xP1, did, what, 77 damage, and then got killed anyway as I didn't have enough power to stop a strength 1, R2 tractor grab.

I could have just taken the 4 internals on T1, but if I lost a larky photon (which, ask any Hydran, is gonna happen on 3 internals), the game was over at that point anyway.

At Range 3-4 its impossible to do an average photon strike. Your shot is either going to be above or below average. Personally I think R-8 against drone users is best. Imp 32, oblique, range 8, room to run or a plan to cover up on the mat for 33 impulses, or a bit of both.... But to do that you need the 4 photons.
CF might be viable with another p-1...

Nope. Man. I put in a lot of time with playtest ships in the last 3 or 4 of these. I figured I'd play a good ship for one, and then cycle back to playtest ships. Am I gonna have to play the G-Rack Fed next?

I can start an informal Masters 2021 Part Deux.
No need to change the header.
I will take the 1st 8 players and two alternates.
Ship/ player combos and player/player matchups are by randomizer.


SO:
- we will install the G rack Fed and take out the CF.
-we will have no Andro
-paring it down to one ship per race, and included the less popular race variant in most cases.
-no playtest in this one.
-since I cut down the ships and removed most of anyone usually doesn't want, I won't consider the "NOT"ships. IE- you get what you get.

So we will have:

Gorn
FED
Kzinti
ISC
Klink
LDR
Hydran
Neo Tholian
Wax 1g11/11g1. The gat can switch sides game to game based on player preference.

If anyone has a really compelling reason for me to do something different with the ships etc, I can tweak things. I am not a barbarian.

It's not that they are irrelevant, a NOT ship is a ship you personally do NOT want to start out in. Andro is far and away the most common, but folks like Peter will play it as that's the only way any testing gets done nowadays. TKE and Selt are common as well. But you get the occasional Brian Evans or Paul F playing those as well.
