CrashandBurn (WAX HHbb) over bakija (GRN)
It's clearly not my year.
T1: I move 15/17/24 for 18 moves, hold all my torps as standards, have a weasel, a point in tractor, a point in HET, and 9 reinforcement on my #1. WAX moves 31 all turn with a HB OL in allocation. We just go forward, he slips out a bit and then turns across my bow. At about R13, I launch a pair of standard torps (both fake). He gets to R8. I use batteries to speed up to 30 for 3 power. He shoots me in the face with 4xP1 and 2xOL HB in direct fire mode. Both hit, and I take 30 damage. After a battery, I am left with a 10 box #1. He turns and runs. I chase. He launches a bunch of drones. I never get closer than R6. If I had sped up to 30 a couple impulses earlier, he could not have avoided R5 on his rear shield, and I have a chance of killing him with an alpha bolt. But nope.
T2: I move 26 for most of the turn, dropping to 17 late, recharge my batteries, hold torps, hold a weasel, that's all my power. WAX goes 30/21/29. I chase him towards the wall, he turns to my North East, allowing me to get around some of his drones. I close, he evades, I shoot a couple drones. He gets near the wall, slows down to 21, and turns in towards me. I try real hard to get inside of R5 centerlined to launch all my plasmas at once, but the best I can get is 1 hex off centerline at R3. I launch 80 points of plasma he can't avoid and HET directly away from him. He shoots all his phasers at my plasmas, I shoot some more drones, get 3P1s on the same shield the plasma is about to hit, roll cruddy for 9 damage (which all sticks, no reinforcement). Plasma hits him for 65 damage after phasers, he takes 44 in. Losing a lot of garbage, a dozen power, and then a grand total of 2P3, 1P1, and a drone rack as weapon hits. I evade the rest of the turn, futilly launching my last F torp as he closed to try and hit the down shield, but it failed and just did 20 to his #4. He speeds up to 29 as plotted, I slow down to 17, he gets to R3, grabs me in a tractor beam for 1 power (I didn't have anything to stop it). I surrender, as I'm gonna get mangled by 2 OL HBs and a million drones on the next turn.
If I sped up a hex earlier on T1, I probably do fine with a 6P1 alpha bolt shot on a flank shield when I was far from any drones and had plenty of room to escape. If I moved on one impulse that I didn't move on so I could have turned in to centerline R5 to launch all the plasma at the same time, I probably have a chance. But nope.

Congratulations to John, it is not easy to swallow 80 points of plasma and come back to win.
Peter, you surrendered with no internals, while the AUX had 44 internals? You had a WW available to clear off the drones? Sure, the two OL HB will hurt a bit ... and you probably need phasers for his 5 drones ... but once you get plasma back online, the AUX is sure to have power problems being down by 12 ... might not be able to run at 31 and charge everything ... ?

Oh, sure. It was not a well thought out surrender. It was an "I'm irritated with the situation I got myself into, and I'm probably going get killed at some point in the future anyway" surrender. Which, well, as this is just a round robin situation, probably not the worst idea.
I probably could have made a game of it. I'd get out of the tractor on impulse 1 (although it wasn't at all impossible that I was gonna get hit by drones by the end of T2, as there were 3 or 4 on the map, all within 3 hexes, and I had no phasers to shoot them down, and it was impulse 26 or something). But then I'd get shot by a couple OL HBs. And if I weasel the drones on the map, I then have to deal with 5 more on the next turn.
But still, 2OL HBs, 5 drone racks, 3P1s are going to kill me if I'm slow, and I'm unlikely to be able to go fast enough to get away from what is coming for me; the AUX was down, like, 12 power, but still, that's enough to OL the HBs, arm the phasers, move some, and still launch all those drones.

Like, I probably could have made a game of it still at that point--if I'm not hit by drones at the end of the turn that I'm tractored (which is unclear currently), I break the tractor on T3 easily (if he even tries to keep it), can move speed 20 while rearming some stuff, weasel drones on T4, and then hopefully have enough guns left on T5 to keep fighting. And if we were playing in real life at a table, or it was a single elimination game, I would have kept going. But, well, odds were I was hosed at that point, so throwing it in so I could go do other things that I needed to do seemed like a better plan :-)

T1 - I double l.wp, 39 power. Come out at 16 with a change to 31 on imp 24, std HB, 12 rein on the #6. Hydran does 16 with a change to 26 on imp 23. Seth launches fighters early and at game end I saw he armed all 4 fusions for 8 power. We are at range 4 on immp 31 facing each others 6. We each shoot 5ph-1, 1 Ovld HB, 1 Std. Seth rolls great phasers, 23 pts, Ovld hits for 22, Std misses. I take on rein plus batt and have 9 shield left. I roll pretty good phasers for 21 but both HB hit for 37. I do 8 internals to him getting, bridge, ph-1, warp, 5 center hull. Imp 32 he turns and I slip out. Fighters don't shoot, they ended up a couple hexes behind his ship at range 5.
Turn 2 I double both warp engines. Put 6 rein on my #5 which is facing him at range 5, arm HB, reload ph and batts and a couple tractor. I go 31(11), 26(23), 19 to the end and I pay for my HET. Hydran goes 25(4), 23(14), 16(22), 20 to the end for 22 movement. Imp 2 he slips, I move at range 5 to cross his #1 and get back to his down #6, not that I can shoot it yet, just moving there. Imp 3 he hets to keep his #6 safe, I counter HET the other direction. Imp 4 to 22 he turns to his left and I turn around to my right, we're about 10 or 11 hexes apart. He announces his speed change to 20 on 22, and turns into with his #1 but I'm just on the left side. I turn right again to show him my #1. We move forward and are at 8 and approaching showing each other our #6. I use batt to only drop my speed to 24 rather than 19 on the impulse I was to slow down so I keep movement advantage. I still have enough power to HET a second time if needed out of battery. His fighters are 1 or 2 hexes in front of him. I slip right as we move to keep 6 to 6 outside of range 5. He turns in as soon as he's able and puts his #1 to me but I keep going straight with a slip. I know I'll get his down #6 again with 3ph-1 that can fire out the Left arc. Near end of turn he is on my #5 and I get to range 5 on his #6. His fighters are at range 4 to me. He shoots 2ph-1 on imp 31 and does 8 to my #5 shield where I have 6 rein. I shoot 2ph-1 on his down shield and get 8 internals getting 2ph-1, warp, aux, and 4 hull. Imp 32, he slips out and I slip out to range 6 and I shoot my LS opt D ph-1 and get 2 internals, a ph-1 and a bridge. He's down 4 ph-1 and 2 power. End of turn he fixes a ph-2. I'm down 3 power from doubling. Fighters don't shoot at range 4.
T3 - with 1 ph-1, ph-2 and 2 HB, as long as he doesn't get to range 3 or less he can't really hurt me. Even on my hurt #6. I go fast figuring I'm just going to keep circling. I only double 1 engine. I don't even need to point my FA at him to shoot HB, the 3 Left arc ph-1's shooting down shield at range 5 or so are ripping weapons off him. I pay for a HET again if needed. Seth starts at 16 and turns to put his #1 on me as I circle his bow to get back on his #3. Imp 5 he speeds up to 23, but at speed 26 I'm still in good shape to keep going for his #6, I don't have to turn out yet. Imp 8 he tries to HET a second time to keep me from getting to his down 6 again and he fails the HET. He concedes there.

The_Hood's Neo vs Spartan's RKR
Turn 1 - Rom has a 28-15 speed plot, Neo moves 16-31-26. We close slipping in a bit, Neo turns and turns to get center-lined. About range 12 (?) Neo casts a five-hex, strength-ten web right across the bow of the RKR, who turns to port, and slips away. Neo slips over to get on the flank #3 shield, and fires 3xOL + 5xPh-1s at range 7 or 8 (?), hits with one OL, rolls ok on phasers, does 17, sees 6 reinforcement. Over the next quarter turn, the RKR turns back in to put the Neo on the #2, and the Neo turns in and sticks himself in the opposite end of the web. We end the turn about range six.
Turn 2 - Rom has a 10-19-10 plot, timed around the web coming down on imp 10, and puts 16 in tractor. Neo has a 15-21 plot. At speed 10, RKR turns in and kinda slips alongside the web. Neo stays stuck in the web for a few impulses, and then turns off sticky and turns off to starboard, accelerates to speed 21. Impulse 10, the RKR hits the web, and then anounces speed 19, which moves twice on 11 and 12. Neo casts snare off to starboard, seems to plan a turn out. Given the turn modes, the RKR gets to range two on the spine between Neo's #5 and #6, and attempts to tractor ... auction goes up to 16 (eight effective), which the Neo does not counter, so RKR launches 100 pts. Neo considers this, and concedes.
We had a debrief in which the Neo mentions that his first plot was speed 4, so we discuss what might have happened in that what-if scenario.

Is there any way to call a battle a draw? Seth and I are in an interesting position. Seth has no weapons other than the probe and 15 power. I have 6 power, 2 p-1s, and 2 disrupters. All repairs have been completed. All shuttles are dead. Neither of us wishes to concede.

From what I am reading I get 5 shots with the probe over 10 turns & I have full front shield. The Shark down shields are 1 - 2 - 5 & the Hydran down shields are 2 -5 -6. I want to finish the game. The hydran has the power to arm probe & move 10 hexes a turn. No bats or trac for both of us. I think it will be a fun game to finish.

I want to add that the Captain is a stand up guy and playing him is enjoyable fun and smooth going. I will be troubled not knowing the true end to this game. I have never had a game come down to the wire like this and I need to know. To finish this game will take some extra turns.

Geof (RKR) and I (AUX HBgD) played 3 turns this AM. Anyone's game so far. Plasma and drones were launched, things were fired, high speed was maintained. I have more shield damage than he does, because I ate some plasma and my weapons in return have been subpar. He is in a tougher spot than I am, but then again he's a better player. But then again, I'm in an AUX and he's flying plasma. But then again he has a cloaking device which complicates things. So we shall see.

Spartan's KR vs Droid's AUX
Turn 1 - Rom plots 17, up to 28 on 25, with 10 pts on the #2. Wyn moves 31 all turn. Both ships close in, approaching centerline. Closing fast, so imp 16 Rom launches 2xS about range 10, then turns to Port, showing the #2. Wyn comes a little closer, range 8, fires 4xph-1, standard HB. Phaser fire absorbed on teh #2, so HB spreads against the three weak rear shields. Wyn turns off to starboard, and then turns again to run from plasma. There was DISR fire, but I think it missed. Imp 32 launches five medium drones.
Turn 2 - Rom plots 31 for first half, and then 20 for second half. Wyn starts at 24, then up to 31, then back to 24 late. Plasma hits on 2/6 for the 22nd move, one is real, does 10, sees 5 reinforcement on the #3. Rom pursues, runs past the drones at speed 31. The Wyn selects to move up towards the NW corner, so Rom turns north to move to cut off the map. Mid turn, the Rom uses reserve to accelerate to 28 for the second half. About impulse 24 the Wyn is running against the wall, but Rom gets to a location where plasma will hit, so launches 50 pts from A&C, then turns out. Wyn turns in, gives the S torp a phaser hose, bringing it down to about 29, and with 5 reinforcement it takes the #6 down to 6. Rom fires 5xph-1s at the Wyn's #1 for 10 points. Drones pursue, but they are slow.
Turn 3 - Rom moves 31, 28, 24. Wyn moves 24-30. A big chase to the other side of the map. Rom initially moves out to range 9, but late in the turn, gets back into range 8. Wyn fires phasers on the #4 for 7 points, but misses with OL HB. Rom initially plans a turn up to the NE corner, but reverses to move right up against the wall heading towards SE corner. We end the turn with Wyn about range 8, with the option to turn in to pursue, or turn out to re-arm.
Intermission
Turn 4 - Rom plots 21, 31, 20, to be able to turn twice then accelerate away from Wyn and drones. Wyn plots 24, 23, then 31. Rom turns due south against the wall, and Wyn turns in to pursue. Once the Wyn changes speed to 23, Rom launches 50 pts from B&D. There is a time when the Wyn can still turn out, but plasma will catch him before he can turn out again. Wyn turns due south to pursue, but with the moves, the plasma ends up getting on the weak #6. Wyn launches one drone and fires phaser hose at F-torp, plasma hits for 34 on the six box shield, no reinforcement, so 28 internals ... 4 power, DISR, drone, 4xph-1s, one tractor, and fluff. Shortly thereafter, Rom turns to run out of the SE corner towards the lower wall, and accelerates to 31. Wyn turns to pursue, and accelerates to 31. Mid turn Rom decels to 23, and Wyn closes in from range five to range two ... about imp 27 Rom accelerates to speed 31 with last btty, and then gets to move after the Wyn. Wyn slips so Rom cannot get on the down #6, and this lets the Rom slip the other way to get away. Rom can now turn up, and slip, ends the turn at range three with Wyn off the #5, and Wyn turns in.
Rom has 50 pts coming online, in arc. Wyn has HB, and 4 drones, but the drone wave from 1/32 runs out of fuel on 4/32. The Rom is pretty much out of power here, but has WW armed. EAF reveal shows that the Wyn discharged WW after turn 2. Andy thinks about it here, and decides to concede. He was hoping to get to range one by the end of the turn. Wyn has pretty bad luck with direct fire from ranges five to eight.
Andy is strong player, and plasma has it tough agains the Aux. I was sweating and had tough choices to make, especially to allocate reserve to speed and be open to a tractor late ... (as I recall, this is how Peter's Gorn died vs Wyn) ... I had a pretty lucky third plasma volley to get his weak shield, and he was gambling that the S torp was fake, but it was real.
