So a upside to this Virus thing more time to play SFB
By F Michael Miller (Fmm) on Tuesday, April 07, 2020 - 03:30 pm: Edit |
I've purchased a SFB-OL subscription and am looking for an opponent. I haven't played SFB since 1979, and all of my books are unavailable (I'm trying to move and got caught by the virus).
If work's light I can play during the day. CDT.

Looking for a Hydran Admiral replacement in Border Wars campaign.
Current year is spring Y164, Hydran have 7 borders, 4 with the Carnivons and 3 with the Klingons.
This is an online campaign using Matt Potter's wonderful program !
No book keeping involved, just assign your forces to scenarios, fight, enter result, repeat.
Scenario results pending on winning or losing could be inflate your income, deflate it, gain or lose borders etc.
If interested, please post here or send me an email for faster results.
Cheers
Frank

Looking to play online after a long hiatus, can join SFBOL as well. I have all the materials and used to know them quite in depth. Would be interested in some sort of mini campaign if there were other players. abianco@borealis.com

Cool. I have been online today, and I am seeing some games played.
Let me check to see if I have Matt's email from a few years ago. Does he still have that website?

I have been waiting to play in Matt's game, but I wouldn't mind playing a bit in scenarios or something.
I have been away for a few years and I'm trying to learn the Romulans better for the campaign, but I'm open to playing other races a bit. I like scenarios for instance, but pick up games can work too.
If anyone is interested, please e-mail me... let me know... I'm seeing people play and I want a piece of the action.

Looking for tournament duels for a little while; I may consider a campaign after I shake the rust off.
My FtF group hasn't played since February.
I'm looking for just about any evening in Eastern Zone.
By Graham Cridland (Grahamcridland) on Friday, October 09, 2020 - 10:38 pm: Edit |
Hit up my email. I can do evenings early (meaning early pacific - normal evening eastern) on weekends or maybe on a planned weekday.

Not exactly sure where to post this, but this thread seems as good as any.
I have not been active on SFBOL for several months. I did not play in the past two Sapphire tournaments (5 & 6), because with limited signups, I wanted to let other folks have the spots. I would have jumped in if there was a risk of not making the required 16.
Anyway, I signed up for Sapphire 7. Last night (Monday, February 1st, 7pm EST), when I logged-in for my game, there were at least 8-10 folks in the Bullpen. This is a lot more critical mass than what I have seen in the past year or so.
An obvious hypothesis is COVID quarantine is keeping folks inside, and they/we are congregating online. And SFBOL is seeing a benefit from that.
So, just want to put it out there for anyone browsing here.
If you are looking for a social activity to occupy your time, there is a resurgence of interest in SFBOL. Log in to the bullpen and announce you are "LFG" (looking for [a] game).

Above & Beyond has an opening for a Kzinti Admiral.
Currently on T4[Fall Y169] so quite young.
Fleet size based on CBpv to encourage battles.
Fleet build restrictions as well so we do not see leader ships only, followers need to be built.
This is a Fog of War format.
If interested, email me in my profile.
I will send you the details for your consideration & get you up to speed if you decide to join.
Cheers

I'm currently in a Seattle-area Campaign (played meatspace SFB from ~82-97 and picked it back up mid-2019), but I'm looking for a player or 2 on the side who's still learning SFBOL (like me) and has time to wade through processes and bounce wisdom off each other in some friendly non-campaign-important engagements, just a couple ships per side. I was working on a manual for SFBOL for awhile, and learned a LOT about it for sure, but had to park that project: (1) it really should be written by someone with way more SFBOL-specific experience than me, (2) there are enough bugs and workarounds that a manual could currently end up being ridiculously long and cross-referenced, and (3) I'd worked up way more questions than Mr. Franz would ever have time to answer. More recently, I've turned more toward creating something simple based on/starting with just the Sequence of Play/Activity Decision Window. Something useful to ME, we'll see how far I get on it. I've signed into SFBOL periodically and chatted with a few folks about some pick-ups, but most seem to be leaning toward just Tournaments: not my thing, I run Kzinti and I need to practice launching waves of everything. Anyway, email me in my profile or post here, if this sounds useful to you. Thanks.

Looking for someone to show me the ropes of SFBOL once I get my subscription worked out. I did play a bit ~10 years ago, but I've forgotten most of it in the interim.

Above and Beyond [AB] is looking for Captains to hire.
We currently have an abundance of battles and due to RL and such, we are falling a bit behind.
If interested, please email me and I will put you in touch with the Admirals requesting help.
Thanks.

I'm looking for players who might want to try two vs two tournament games.
I think it could be fun. Alliances between odd couples should be encouraged.
I've only played sfbol a few times with 4 playing and it's possible to have really great games but you have to be willing to spend a little not time and it can be frustrating because folks tend to concentrate fire on one target at a time.
It's brutal but could be fun.

I'd be up for it, I've tried it in the past a few times.
