I can create a PDF of such things which you could print and mount and cut on your own. Just email me if you really want that.

No need. I'll just send Shapeways more money. Lol
I wish they'd print a plasma torp. I'm just never satisfied. :D

One of the things we did was to place 1/2" numbered counters on the one-inch ship counter to indicate the EW ECM/ECCM current setting.

McMurray: I believe the metal plasma torpedoes are still available direct from ADB. (They may be why printed torpedos weren't a top priority.)

I would be happy to have printed plasma torpedoes at any time.

Steve: how do we make it happen? We've been using drones but that gets confusing when you have both in the battle.

One of the four sculptors does them and sends them to Jean.

I took the valve stem caps off my tires and painted them red. But then, there are some who would say I'm not right in the head. I also use them for mine counters, instead of the actual mine counters. (See previous statement about the condition of my noggin.)

I could have sworn that Mathew Lawson was penciled in to do plasma torpedoes for Shapeways. The organic nature of the shapes land more in his modeling wheelhouse than the rest of the modelers.

I think he did the metal ones. But it has been a long time.

The metal plasmas and drones were done by the same guy who did the metal fighters (whose name escapes me at the moment - Daniel Kast, maybe?).

I thought it was Todd Boyce from Ninja Magic that did the fighter, drone, and plasma torpedo minis.

It may be. It has been a very long time.

Is there a consolidated listing anywhere of all the scenarios that have been published and the source? I know this would be a huge list, but just curious. Since there is a master rule book and a master annex book, have a master scenario book been considered to complete the printed material?

G3A contains the list you're looking for.

Todd Boyce, indeed. Thank you Ken Rodeghero. It was late and I was having a senior moment.

The Master Scenario Book - or more likely, Books, is a known "We'll do sometime" product, but there's nothing known beyond that.

They you for the response to the scenario list question. is there any chance of an "official" answer on where that is in the pipeline? Also interested in when the ISC master list book might appear as well as a general ship master book.

The General Units MSSB is in active development as the next one, part of why Module R1 is being revised currently as well - they (and Module R6 revised) were delayed by SPP’s health issues late last year and into the first part of this one.

We had a couple of players able to make it to our monthly game yesterday. I was the Romula and Bob played the Gorn. Here's a quick recap along with some thoughts and questions. Pics are here if you're interested: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vOlB7oaPmkKhan8uej-1aPoRLjkgQX1S?usp=sharing
Neither of us are plasma players and we did Gorn TC vs. Romulan TKR. It was a learning experience for both of us. Please give some thoughts on what we could have done differently. I’ll put mine at the end. Note: we used tournament ships and rules except that we used a floating map. We are trying to learn plasma and we always use a floating map in other games so learning with a fixed map is kinda useless to us.
Turn 1 I plot 20/30. I was expecting Bob to come in faster and wanted to lure out a launch or two. He went slower than expected. On impulse 18 I toss an ENV-S at him. He flees and speeds up on turn 2 so he can completely run it out.
Turn 2 I go 25 the entire turn and give chase. On impulse 17 he turns in so I toss another ENV-S at him. Impulse 25 he dumps a bunch of phasers into it and ends up taking 4 per shield and 4 divided up.
Turn 3 I go 21/28. He’s still chasing so I send 2 F-torps his way and they end up hitting for 20 damage. It would have been 10 if the one I wanted to be fake had been but the TKR doesn’t get pseudo-Fs.
Turn 4 I send a standard S-torp his way. He phasers it down some and still ends up taking 9 internals. He stopped 5 of the damage with 10 general reinforcement. I don’t remember the exact positioning so I’m not sure if he was forced to take that to the front shield in order to continue pursuit. We stop for a quick discussion on impulse 32. He’s in the chaser role and I can keep lobbing torpedoes at him while I run away so we’re wondering what he can do differently. He ends up bolting and phasering on 32 and for a total of 22 points to my #3. Not quite enough to punch through.
Turn 5 I go 21 for the first few impulses to satisfy my turn mode, turn away, and speed up to 22 to get one more hex of movement that turn. I toss an ENV-S before turning away. He ends up taking 7 more internals while continuing the chase. Since he’s empty I keep chasing. I’m moving faster and manage to tractor him at Range 2 on impulse 32.
Turn 6 I put 9 into tractors and 11 into speed. My plan is to tractor him if he goes fast and launch if he goes slow. I also envelop my 2 F-torps. It was 1) illegal since Fs can’t be enveloped and 2) a stupid idea since 40 to a 12-point shield is much better than 80 spread around to all shields (28 internals vs. 15). He goes speed 0 so I launch on impulse 1. He TACs in to bring phasers to bear, hitting my fresh #1 and does 1 internal (forward hull). I do 15 and follow it with a phaser barrage. He’s a busted wreck after that and we call it. He did launch a shuttle before his bay was destroyed but it wasn’t a weasel and never got to fire.
I had a weasel prepped up until turn 6 just in case things go horribly. I dropped it on 6 because he was dry and I wanted the extra tractor power. We compared SSDs. I knew the TKR was more fragile than the Gorn but didn’t realize how much more until we counted boxes. I did 11 more internals to his ship than I had boxes on mine. It would have been over much sooner had the roles been reversed.
Romulan victory!!!
Thought: Bob shouldn’t have fully run out the turn 1 envelope. He completely ceded initiative by running that far and fast. Better to take some damage and stay closer to me. On turn 2 he could have saved his phaser fire and taken 6-ish to each shield instead. That would have given him more power for speed in turn 3.
Thought: General reinforcement, like weasels and cloak, is a trap. Just like those two, it’s useful in some situations but is usually too costly. Putting half of that power to a single shield and the rest to speed would have let him get in closer while doing more to maneuver the protected shield.
Thought: Bob could have bolted sooner and continued bolting every time he made it to the glory zone with torps loaded. He’d have done more damage than trying to line up a chance to launch at me when I’m always running at high speeds.
Thought: Bob could have run away on turn 5 and started to reload. There was no real reason to keep chasing since he was out of torps and recharging phasers. The ENV-S either wouldn’t have caught him or would have done quite a few less internals.
Thought: I shouldn’t have tried enveloping the F-torps on turn 6. Leaving aside the fact that it’s illegal, it did less damage and took 6 power. I should have put that into the tractor as well. I also should have plotted a faster speed at the start and then dropped afterwards. Something like 30/13 would have given me a better chance to get to range 1 if he sped up, making my tractor power much more efficient.
Question: should he have been holding a weasel the entire time? If he’d managed to drop one on impulse one of turn 6 he’d have taken a lot less collateral damage than he took from the Fs. My followup phasers would also have done a lot less damage.

I posted the same recap on Facebook and the general consensus seemed to be "don't do big plasma duels on an open map."

Ginger McMurray:
I cannot tell, so I am asking. What was the status of the Enveloped Plasma-S you launche on Turn #2? Enveloped plasma toropedoes cannot be held from turn to turn, and cannot be armed with reserve power during a turn. They must be completed during Energy Allocation, either by allocating the final turn of arming on the third turn, or by allocating the energy to a torpedo held by rolling delay (which in essence delays the third turn of arming). See rule (FP5.23).
By Ginger McMurray (Gingermcmurray) on Monday, September 12, 2022 - 04:17 pm: Edit |
I'd been rolling and had to pay the full 8 for it on turn 2. It was a very expensive strategy which would have probably cost me the game (or at least a ton of initiative) if he hadn't continued chasing. If he'd started running I'd have been forced to launch and it would have been basically useless.
By Ginger McMurray (Gingermcmurray) on Monday, September 12, 2022 - 04:34 pm: Edit |
Note: it cost me two batteries to do everything but I wanted to be at speed 25 in case he was doing EA math to see what I had armed. I probably should have plotted a speed change to muddle the information instead of having to slow down later in order to refill them.
