Star Fleet Universe Discussion Board: Star Fleet Battles: Star Fleet Battles Online: Sapphire Series Tournaments: Sapphire Star 12 (xxx 2022): Archive through December 14, 2022

I understand your point Greg , You’re probably correct. I was just trying not to stand up Dave .
FWIW
Seth was the other consideration as replacement, and I even stated that I wanted him to take it . I think he would have been the one assigned to replace me , I just saved some time .
Maybe it is just habit from Judging these things lately

>Please Email Steve Petrick, ASAP about the situation

Ok, done.

Tonight 9:30 EST

Kzinti v Gorn Sapphire battle
Let's see if we finish tonight.

Game on - unless Steve Cole has different plans.

Im cool if Steve Cole agrees or disagrees.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Friday, December 09, 2022 - 01:29 pm: Edit

Big Slow Target would be the choice to take the role. He was knocked out in the just completed round and is playing the same ship.

Are there any objections?

By Daniel Bitseff (Cadet_Stimpy) on Friday, December 09, 2022 - 02:01 pm: Edit

Big Slow Target won his way to the round, it is his opponent (Droid) that needs replaced.

Bakija fits your description for this (knocked out of the just completed round, and is playing the same ship (gorn)).

By Andy Koch (Droid) on Friday, December 09, 2022 - 02:47 pm: Edit

Timeout here for Pete's sake. Dave Jannke was never a replacement!

As follows:
1) Greg_T (I think) dropped out of 1.2 and needed to be replaced.
2) Seth (who had just lost his game), volunteered to replace Greg. My name was put also put forward by someone else, (BBS)

3) I replied on OCT 31 (BBS) that I would rather have Seth be the replacemet. I had gone on to other things and wasn't too keen to play due to RL.

4) On 11/1 I got an e mail from SPP, who had missed this aforementioned exchange on the BBS, and asked me to be the replacement. I agreed, but reluctantly, as RL was prioritized at this time.

5) I play Jeff in 1.2 and win.

6) Dave is my next opponent in 2.1

7) I miss an important e mail from Dave that would have had us play on 11/23. I then fail to communicate for a few weeks, well beyond our deadline.

8) We finally agree to play on 12/7. But...Due to RL and our timezone difference, on 12/7 about two hrs before the game, I decide to ask Seth to take over, as he was the other consideration at the time I was put in.

9) Dave and Seth get to it and are well into the game.

I will admit that I jumped the gun and ovestepped my bounds here. In fact if I were Judging and someone did this without speaking to me first I would be pretty no-plussed. For that I apologize. However, I can assure you that none of us are up to any shennanigans here. I was just trying not to jerk around Dave any more, and to help move this along. This is coupled with the fact that SPP has had soome health issues for the past year and I am not even sure that he is paying attention.

I would recommend that Dave and Seth finish up and we all move on. I have Judged the recent Sapphires, so I hope I have some credibility here

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Friday, December 09, 2022 - 03:01 pm: Edit

I admit that I have not been paying much attetion, not to mention problems with the computers I am working with lately.
I f there are no other objections, I will agree to Andrew Koch's suggestion and Seth Shimansky should continue on as before I interjected.

Again, my apologies for not being as attentive as I was in times past.

By Daniel Bitseff (Cadet_Stimpy) on Friday, December 09, 2022 - 03:20 pm: Edit

no objections here, looking forward to seeing the continuation of their battle!

By David Jannke (Bigslowtarget) on Friday, December 09, 2022 - 05:00 pm: Edit

No objections - Andy's description is accurate and appreciated. Steve's formal ruling is also appreciated as it clears up any ambiguity and sets us on a clear path.

Battle at 6:30 Pacific/9:30 Eastern.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Friday, December 09, 2022 - 05:34 pm: Edit

There has been enough delay, much of it to my own sorry account, let us move forward, and I promise to pay much more attention to this topic than I had prevoius to this point. You gentlemen had so previuously shown you did not really need me I had sadly become lax in my duties. Now I must ask you all to forgive me, but not to forget, and carry this forward to a completion. I apologize for my failure ere this point.

Further updates on 3.2 (Moose vs Spartan)?

By Stephen McCann (Moose) on Saturday, December 10, 2022 - 04:06 pm: Edit

Trying to schedule, me being in the US and working strange hours and him being in Japan are complicating things.

By Stephen McCann (Moose) on Saturday, December 10, 2022 - 05:20 pm: Edit

We are starting up again right now. Start of turn 5.

By Stephen McCann (Moose) on Saturday, December 10, 2022 - 07:23 pm: Edit

Played 3 more turns, At the end of turn 7 the TKR's shields are 28/30/24/0/24/1. He is down 2 left warp, he repaired a R warp as awr. He is also down 3 imp. He has lost all but one of his p-3s, and also his left wing p-1. His rs plasma f was killed, but he repaired it at the end of turn 7.
The WAX's shields are 30/30/24/24/14/12 and I have taken no internals. There are 4 drones on the map and he shot down 4 more and weaseled off another 4, leaving me with 6-8 drones left, depending on if I took type 4 drones or not.
For turn 8 he has his left side plasmas armed and is on turn 2 of arming his right plasma s and turn 1 of loading his newly repaired plasma f. He has used 2 repairs so far.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, December 10, 2022 - 07:53 pm: Edit

Thanks for the updates!

By David Jannke (Bigslowtarget) on Monday, December 12, 2022 - 12:36 am: Edit

A rolling battle of 15 turns of maneuver, maneuver, maneuver ending with Gorn victory via shuttlecraft squadron doing 30+ internals before dying and the Gorn ending with 6 power inc warp vs. Kzinti 4 (no warp). No repairs remaining on either side.

It would have continued a couple more turns of the Kzinti chipping at the Gorn last half shield while the Gorn loaded up his last torp. Then with no way to turn a down shield hit would be guaranteed.

Congrats to Seth - his victory has been reported

By Ginger McMurray (Gingermcmurray) on Monday, December 12, 2022 - 08:15 am: Edit

It sounds like it was a lot of fun!

By Stephen McCann (Moose) on Monday, December 12, 2022 - 10:22 am: Edit

Moose vs Spartan continues tonight at 1700 eastern.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, December 12, 2022 - 02:05 pm: Edit

Need to update the Standings with Droid replaced by Kingzilla.

By Stephen McCann (Moose) on Monday, December 12, 2022 - 06:44 pm: Edit

We played 2 more turns tonight. TKR shields are now 28/12/24/1/24/1. No more internals on him. On turn 8 he launched torp A as an EPT which I took for 30 - 13 from 7 p-3s. I also outran torp C. On turn 10 he has torps B and D armed.
The WAX shields are 27/27/21/21/11/1.
We are continuing this Friday at 1700 eastern.

By Daniel Bitseff (Cadet_Stimpy) on Monday, December 12, 2022 - 11:27 pm: Edit

Stimp over Kingzilla in the Gorn civil war. Seth outmaneuvered me all game, but stuck too close when it was time for him to re-arm & got hit with the Gorn Anchor. After 80 pts of plasma & phasers, shadow Gorn blew up. Well played by Seth filling in on a totally unfamiliar ship (gotta thank him for getting his Gorn past the Kzinti, because I wouldn't have!)

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 - 08:37 am: Edit

Go Team Gorn!

By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 - 10:55 am: Edit

It's good to see the Gorn come out on top in that battle!

By Geoffrey Clark (Spartan) on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 - 02:14 am: Edit

Wow, congratulations, Dan!

Seth has a tendency to get anchored in these plasma civil wars. Where was is 25+ points of reinforcement to blunt the plasma?

Moose and I are still slugging it out, turn 10 coming up.

By Seth Shimansky (Kingzila) on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 - 10:05 am: Edit

LOL very funny Sparten.

I was feeling like Mike Tyson all game until Buster Douglas opened up on me. I thought I had enough in Trac. Dan played a great turn to get me.
