Yes I signed up Sapphire XII for the Crown.

thank you

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, January 16, 2023 - 05:05 pm: Edit

Seth Shimansky:

Not a problem. Now if we can get the fourth player to commit (not that I am trying to twist his arm or anything, but we need four current Sapphire Star players, who were not in the previous Sapphire crown.

By Dana Madsen (Madman) on Monday, January 16, 2023 - 10:47 pm: Edit

Hey, Seth emailed me tonight, I haven't checked the board in a few weeks and missed this.

I'm good to play.

I'll mail Steve P my ship choice.

We all signed up with a tree?

By Jean Sexton Beddow (Jsexton) on Thursday, January 19, 2023 - 04:36 pm: Edit

Just an FYI. Petrick has been out all week in an attempt to avoid catching the plague. SVC has a terrible cold. I seem to have gotten it as a mild case of sniffles, and Mike has it as cough and drainage. No one wants Petrick to catch this stuff. He will be back to work (we hope) on Monday, January 23.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, January 23, 2023 - 03:58 pm: Edit

First, as Jean said we had an illness breakout here which shut the office down. I am sorry that this delayed us a week.

Second, Sapphire Crown 2 has its four players. The upper half of the tree is

Captain Ron (Ron Brimeyer) WYN Shark (Type B Drone rack in the left wing option mount, and phaser-1 in the right wing option).

Versus

Mad Jack (Jack Taylor) Klingon

Bottom of tree

Kingzilla (Seth Shimansky) Federation

versus

Madjack (Dana Madsen) Orion
(Package #1: H,H, Ph-G, Ph-1, Drone-B)
(Package #2: Pl-F, Pl-F, Ph-G, Fusion, Fusion)

Good Luck to you all. Play should commence by Friday, 27 Jan 2023. The final should commence not later than Friday 10 Feb 2023. Here is hoping that my addled brain has all this clear.

Thirdly, I do want to star collecting signups for Sapphire Star XIII. The scheduled start date is Friday, 17 Feb 2023.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, January 23, 2023 - 06:45 pm: Edit

If we get a new thread for SS XIII, that'll help signups.

I took the G rack Fed

By Ronald J. Brimeyer (Captainron) on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 - 11:44 am: Edit

Seth,

Is the G-rack Fed a sanctioned ship in Sapphire?

By Seth Shimansky (Kingzila) on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 - 03:36 pm: Edit

Starting in Sapphire Star 6 the FED has been allowed in the Sapphire with the G rack. The Fed has been used with the G rack since Sapphire Star 6.There where a few other changes to. The Andromedan Tournament ship with two (2) TRHs and Vudar tournament cruiser was also added.

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 - 08:35 pm: Edit

I would have assumed the g-rack Fed. It's been a while now that the G-rack Fed has been used in tournaments.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 - 02:02 pm: Edit

The Fed has the G-rack.

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 - 09:53 pm: Edit

Ron and Jack planning to play Tuesday 1/31 at 8p eastern.

Shark vs Klingon

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Friday, January 27, 2023 - 03:52 pm: Edit

I would comment that I am still looking for sign ups for Sapphire Star XIII.

By Daniel Bitseff (Cadet_Stimpy) on Friday, January 27, 2023 - 04:19 pm: Edit

I signed up via the webform, but the only option that was available was sapphire 12, so I used that. Let me know if that doesn't process...

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, January 28, 2023 - 09:07 am: Edit

Yeah, there isn't a signup place for Sapphire XIII yet, either here or on the SFBOL website.

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Wednesday, February 01, 2023 - 12:31 am: Edit

Ron Beat Jack. Ron played great, me not so much. I am going to leave the write up to Ron if he wants to do one.

Good luck in the next round Ron!

By Ronald J. Brimeyer (Captainron) on Wednesday, February 01, 2023 - 12:40 pm: Edit

A few highlights. We had our 1st close pass on turn 2. I came out a few internals ahead. I hit 2 of Jack's drone racks Jack hit none of mine. That was huge. On top of that I knocked out all of the Klingon batteries. Lucky rolls plus that small forward hull. This allowed me to run away on turn 3 recharging phasers and batteries. I launched 3 drones at the end of turn 3. This forced Jack to deal with 6 drones and possible 2 SS without any battery power while I had my full 5 reserve. He did a good job, but that is a lot to deal with.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Wednesday, February 01, 2023 - 04:00 pm: Edit

I have often noted that Klingon ships lose their batteries early and this must be something they keep in mind when taking internals. Generally, if the enemy gets 20 internals against a D7 (as an example) you are going to lose your batteries, so you may as well go ahead and abandon any dreams you have of pulling a surprise with your reserve power later in the turn and place it in your shield reinforcement fight then so you will get some use out of the power. Klingons cannot afford to hold it against this damage. It is not like an Alliance ship (Federation, Gorn, Kzinti, Tholian or Orion. Their ships will keep their batteries until late in the game, while you will have to play a better game without reserve power.

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Wednesday, February 01, 2023 - 04:27 pm: Edit

There was some bad luck for me and Ron. Neither of us rolled really great. I needed to roll better than I did for sure but that isn't alone why I lost this one. Ron played better. And then I rolled not great. And then I lost BOTH drone racks on 15 internals. And then Ron played better again.

Overall theme- Ron played much better. In fact, I have never seen anyone play the Shark better. Whoever gets him next has their hands full.

By Ronald J. Brimeyer (Captainron) on Saturday, February 04, 2023 - 04:20 pm: Edit

Any Headway on the other Sapphire Crown game?

By Seth Shimansky (Kingzila) on Saturday, February 04, 2023 - 04:23 pm: Edit

waiting on the Orion - think 1 more week

By Geoffrey Clark (Spartan) on Sunday, February 05, 2023 - 12:59 pm: Edit

Congrats Ron!

Jack, may I recommend plasma? Just think, your primary weapon executes correctly on 1-6! You can still have a Klingon hull, with the measily hull and vulnerable batteries (and killer arcs).

Please get a sign-up page for SS XIII !
