Dice control the outcome in more ways than one. I once separated a Gorn destroyer from its squadron and closed in to two hexes range, not unfortunately no the same shield. By the time my three ships finished firing we had collectively done enough damage that one more internal would have crippled the Gorn Destroyer. There is a saying,”variety is the spice of life.”

Part of the attraction of Star Fleet Battles, (in my opinion), IS the variation in results that the dice rolls provide.

If it were based on a no -dice system, where all results are constant without any element of chance, in all likelihood, players would have grown bored and just not play the game.

The reason some scenarios are replayed over and over for years, is that the end results change with different die roll results.

It is why, players, just like SPP posted above, remember and share memorable game events that show exceptional occurrences.

Sometimes, players replay scenarios to score something other than a historical event. For example:

The U.S.S. Houston destroying three Klingon D hull cruisers, and escaping undamaged.

You're missing at least one Tholian from Module R4T, the CAF (based on Archeo-Tholian CA). Also note that for the Tholians (I can't speak for a lot of the non-Tholian ships), only the CAF and DDF were ever actually built. The other Tholians (including Neo-Tholians) are "conjectural".

A couple of years ago a B+W laser printer for your home office could he found for about 200 bucks. But a decent color laser printer was 600+.
Remarkably, the color printers have dropped in price since then. I've seen them for under 300. So I think now is the right time for me to finally begin the big upgrade from BW to color SSD's.
I've picked up R1,Basic, AM, and a few others.

Basically, it's an inkjet, but you top up the tanks of ink instead of replacing cartridges. The equivalent of a new cartridge in bottled ink is about $1.70.
