And then there are your shuttle craft and transporters...

By Garth L. Getgen (Sgt_G) on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 - 05:26 pm: Edit

That's still faster than the base can launch them. Which means with a couple freighters docked, the base can chuck drones all week long.

Say, Rule (R1.4) Hanger Bay Modules, indicates that the two cargo spaces hold 100 spaces for drones. Add to that, the contents of the well known arms freighter, Getgen's Gambit, and you have a plethora of firepower. I like it very much.
Here's my question:
If you launched 1 admin shuttle from each of a starbase's 6 docking modules; then, a couple of impulses later, landed the 6 admin shuttles, 1 to each hanger bay module (assuming a late war Federation starbase); then, a couple of impulses later(as the fighters are out fighting), assign 2 deck crews to each shuttle to rig 6 scatterpacks, from the 100 drones in storage in each HBM; could you then, 97 impulses (3 turns, plus 1 impulse) launch 6 SP's, 1 from each hanger bay module? Would that be legal within the rules?

Joseph,
Without answering your question, you had better have sufficient drone control channels....

By Joseph Jackson (Bonneville) on Thursday, September 12, 2024 - 01:20 pm: Edit

True. If the shuttles are launched on ballistic courses, then I'd need 36 channels, or about the same as my budget cable service.
The starbase can take 12, I've enough ships in the air to cover 18 more. Oh, and the base has special sensors for the remaining 6. I think this could work.

ATG?

By Mike Grafton (Mike_Grafton) on Friday, September 13, 2024 - 11:32 am: Edit

And then the enemy scout goes wild, a few mines are laid and the huge swarm goes a "Poof."

By Joseph Jackson (Bonneville) on Friday, September 13, 2024 - 01:14 pm: Edit

:) Ahhhh, the story of my life. Awesome plans laid waste by reality. :)

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, September 16, 2024 - 12:00 pm: Edit

Frank Lemay: Do you still need an answer to your ATG question?

By Frank Lemay (Princeton) on Monday, September 16, 2024 - 08:01 pm: Edit

SPP, yep please.

Thanks for the quick reply !
One follow up ? re the ATG drone as it is a game David and I are currently playing.

My D6 had the ecm drone following it but did not release it to ATG guidance.
Carni scout attracts the ecm drone.

The D6 did not drop tracking immediately and the non activated ATG drone gets to R8 or something like that.
Does the ATG kick in or does the D6 have to release the ATG drone to ATG guidance ?

Thanks.

Cheers
Frank

Frank Lemay:

Sorry for the delay, I was expecting to be in the office yesterday and was not for reasons beyond my control.
Basically the ECM drone is just a drone until it reaches Range 8 from its target, at which point whether you wish it or not the ATG kicks in, even if you cut the tracking.

Thank you SPP !

Does anyone know which product has a master weapons chart for the base game (non-Omega)?

I am have a bunch of PDF products I hope it is in something I have so I can print and laminate it.

Thanks

By Stewart Frazier (Frazikar3) on Friday, October 11, 2024 - 05:05 pm: Edit

Module G3A has (about) every chart for the game …

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Friday, October 11, 2024 - 09:49 pm: Edit

Stewart - I have G3A and it is not in there. I want the page where it has all the various standard weapons charts all in one place. I think there is such a thing.

By A David Merritt (Adm) on Friday, October 11, 2024 - 11:17 pm: Edit

G3 starting page 178.

Thank you Mr. Meritt. That is what I needed!!

Does the one point of damage that a Heel Nipper causes against a warp engine count for purposes of victory? Leak points against Andromedan PA do not, and this seems somewhat similar to the Heel Nipper damage. We did not see a rule covering this, but one player argued that it was too easy for a Carnivon to score internals, which seems true. Is there an official ruling? Thanks.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 - 03:23 pm: Edit

Stephen E. Parrish:

A point of INTERNAL damage is a point of internal damage. I will need you to cite the rule that says an internal from leak damage through PA panels does not cout as right now it seems odd. Orions suffer damage from doubling their engines and it is counted.

By Gregory S Flusche (Vandar) on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 - 07:31 pm: Edit

Damage caused as a result of “leaks” does not
count for purposes of victory (S2.21) unless the ship is crippled. Such
damage does count for crew casualties (G9.2). Note that it is possible
for enveloping weapons to score leak damage on both the front and
rear panels with the same salvo.
(D10.331) Whenever a single volley scores a total number of damage

I think that is what he is looking at?

By Stephen E Parrish (Steveparrish) on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 - 09:03 pm: Edit

Yes, I was asking about internals caused by the HN for the purposes of victory points. (S2.21), seems to say that leak damage points do not count for purposes of victory. That is, a ship that has only leak points as internal hits does not count as having internal hits when calculating victory points. I was asking about internal points caused by the heel nipper as it seems much too easy to score internals that way. E.g., in our last game one ship had one warp engine hit caused by a heal nipper, that was the only hit it had, and was counted for purposes of victory to have internals, which gave the opposing side victory points. Are we reading something wrong?

By Gregory S Flusche (Vandar) on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 - 09:56 pm: Edit

The rule I posted is for the leaks thru andromedin PA panels. I was just pointing to the rule that says it does not count. I cannot find anything under the heel nipper rules saying Yes or no on the internal damage.

By Stephen E Parrish (Steveparrish) on Thursday, October 17, 2024 - 07:46 am: Edit

Thanks. This is why I am asking about the HNs. It seems to easy to score internals with it. Should it have the same status for victory points as the leaks?

By Stephen E Parrish (Steveparrish) on Thursday, October 17, 2024 - 10:43 am: Edit

I may have caused confusion by bringing in the Andromedan leak rule. I brought that up because there was an example of causing a point of internal damage that does not count for victory points (unless the ship is crippled). Analogously, it seemed to us that the point of damage to a warp engine caused by a HN should not count for victory points. It is simply too easy.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Friday, October 18, 2024 - 02:36 pm: Edit

Stepen E Parrish:

I am afraid as I said that an internal damage point is an internal damage point. You cn cite that you feel it is unfair to the Andromedans, but a Federation DNG (or other empire's ships) faces the same issue. most empires going into a battle know they are going to be hurt and strive to hurt the other guy more in order to win. Andromedans can generally "absorb" and shrug off a great deal of damage and pay it no real attention. The Heel Nipper is a conundrum to them, but fortunately the Carnivons who were the only empire to field the weapon were apparently extinct the the Andromedans began their conquest.
