By Ronald J. Brimeyer (Captainron) on Saturday, December 21, 2024 - 10:58 am: Edit

Thank you Steven

Hello Fellow Tournament members,

Is there any action on pending items, or do we anticipate picking this up in January?

Thanks, and Happy Holidays!

BS vs Hardcore, 10AM CST Saturday 4th.

By Seth Shimansky (Kingzila) on Friday, December 27, 2024 - 10:47 am: Edit

1.01 captainron WBS (B1) MetalDog ZIN

1.04 Moose WAX (11g1) Von_Nasty LYR

The hold up is game 1.01 & 1.04.

1.01 MetalDog won’t play on unless a judge looks over the game. MD has a claim of non aggression.

1.04 Moose dropped out & needs a replacement.

So Spartan our side of the tree is at a complete freeze

By Ronald J. Brimeyer (Captainron) on Friday, December 27, 2024 - 09:11 pm: Edit

We came home 2 days early. Has anything been decided?

By Seth Shimansky (Kingzila) on Monday, December 30, 2024 - 12:33 pm: Edit

Can we PLEASE get a Player as a Judge like Peter bakija. He is not in the tournament.

By Jean Sexton Beddow (Jsexton) on Monday, December 30, 2024 - 02:29 pm: Edit

Petrick is getting home today. We hope he'll be in at the start of the year.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, December 30, 2024 - 05:23 pm: Edit

Heh, like, in theory, I'd be perfectly willing to step in. But:

A) Petrick will be back soon.

and

2) I don't wanna touch that Non Aggression situation with a 10 foot plasma.

Hardcore vs BS

Turn one and two was the usual EPT ballet. I made an error and let a SP drone hit my #5. (NOT the way to find out sp 20 drones CAN catch a sp 21 TKR.)
Intimidated by my opponent being a fleet captain I spent turn three running away. That was also the number of disruptors that eventually hit my damaged shield... (I took four dam after reinforcement). Now I had a problem: T:4 Bill was close enough to try attack my damaged shield. I could turn the other way but would then only have and F in arc rather than my F and S. I had a weasel, but felt it was not good to limit my speed . So I plotted for a HET, armed an EPT and a HI/LO sp plot. We both started at sp 26. Very soon it was apparent he would get his fire opportunity. I launched my PL-B ept and then I did a HET towards him to make sure Bill would feel some pain too. We got to range two off our #2 shields and fired stuff. Bill held back most of his phasers and fired mostly standard disruptors. I fired every bearing phaser and got some good hits. IIRC ADD, p3, some warp, bridge, disr. (I used my tractors to handle his sp 20 drones) Bill merely gnawed on my #2 but next impulse he scored 16 ints through that shield damaged by the drone. I lost some warp and the Pl-C. Bill increased speed to run from the plasma, and while doing so ended up in the SW corner of the map. I moved clockwise but slowly at sp 15 to reach a good position for my EPT launch.
My position was great but I had taken shield damage. It would be difficult but not impossible to maneuver for plasma launches.

This morning I woke early, started the client and took a look at the game. That's when I noticed in the EAF that I had discharged empty batts for power. Two (2). Turns in a row.
Bill suggested consulting SPP for a solution (but that is not an option, is it?). Since he was not interested in rebooting, which is very understandable, I conceded the duel.

Doh. Unfortunate, but it happens to the best of us!

By Carl-Magnus Carlsson (Hardcore) on Sunday, January 05, 2025 - 03:24 pm: Edit

QED:) *
I'll keep asking PF to do something about it. After all the EAF show when we are in the red, using more power than we have, so it should be possible to show us when we are in the red with battery power too.
* I prove that I am one of the best often enough that I have complained about it before.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, January 06, 2025 - 03:40 pm: Edit

I have asked both players to provide data for a determination as of Friday, 3 Jan 2025, I have not received a reply from TJ.

By Seth Shimansky (Kingzila) on Monday, January 06, 2025 - 04:22 pm: Edit

Steve - 1.04 Moose dropped out & needs a replacement.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, January 06, 2025 - 05:24 pm: Edit

I have looked over the situation, but I need to hear from Justin. As to the question on quick reverses, they are specifically listed as a Rule To Be Used on Page #3 of the Module T rulebook.

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Monday, January 06, 2025 - 05:34 pm: Edit

If no one has any objections, and Jack Taylor agrees to take over Moose's ship (after the mutiny, of course) we can allow this change in captaincy to proceed.

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Monday, January 06, 2025 - 06:12 pm: Edit

It won't be pretty, but I will fly it.

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Monday, January 06, 2025 - 09:00 pm: Edit

Tree has been updated.

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Monday, January 06, 2025 - 09:10 pm: Edit

Carl-Magnus,
I didn't realize from your feedback that is what you wanted. I had the impression that you wanted it to not be possible to make the battery negative at all. Making it Red it much easy then stopping people from making the battery available from being negative.

By Carl-Magnus Carlsson (Hardcore) on Monday, January 06, 2025 - 09:27 pm: Edit

Paul, yes, later I figured that would be an easier solution to implement since it is allready used in the EAF to control total power expenditure.

By Justin Royter (Metaldog) on Monday, January 06, 2025 - 10:13 pm: Edit

Mr Petrick I have emailed you per your request, thank you.

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Tuesday, January 07, 2025 - 12:40 pm: Edit

Carl-Magnus,
This is now done. It will be part of the next release.

By Ronald J. Brimeyer (Captainron) on Tuesday, January 07, 2025 - 08:06 pm: Edit

Mr. Petrick has ruled against me so I have reported the loss. This will set an interesting president.

By Daniel Bitseff (Cadet_Stimpy) on Tuesday, January 07, 2025 - 08:27 pm: Edit

So, I don't know apple-butter from shinola -- but I suspect the adjudication was due to the round being over, and based on ship position & condition, future plans given from each player, and maybe a little sprinkling of "non-aggression factor" vs. being just a non-aggression decision. Like, you probably only receive a warning to "get moving" if the round wasn't already past due. So, I don't think a precedent has been set, but again, I'm actually clueless & just speculating.

By Ronald J. Brimeyer (Captainron) on Tuesday, January 07, 2025 - 08:39 pm: Edit

Steven wrote that one player was being aggressive while the other was not. As far as the round being over. That was not mentioned in the ruling and the round was not over when we stopped playing to await a ruling. Do not get me wrong, I am not destroyed by this ruling. I play this game to have fun and really don't care that much about it. I am someone who enjoys a good debate and as I said, it will get interesting.
