Good game so far, both guys appear to have snuck some commando H&R teams onto their TCs.
I think they are planning to continue/conclude on Monday evening, don't quote me on this but it might have been 6:30pm Pacific.

Bill and I completed our game, thank you Bill, and everyone I played. Let's do our best to get another 16 bracket or more for the next one!

Anyone going to post even a brief synopsis?
Thanks!
By Justin Royter (Metaldog) on Monday, March 24, 2025 - 01:35 pm: Edit |
ty Jack... I will try to get something posted but my memory is foggy, been playing a fair amount of others games lately.
By Justin Royter (Metaldog) on Monday, March 24, 2025 - 03:14 pm: Edit |
being honest here, I cannot recall the game well enough to write it up. If anyone that was watching wants to give a good account I would appreciate that, or if Bill feels like posting that would be great.

T1 we exchanged standards. I launched SP with 6 spd 20. He launched 10 spd 20 drones. he turned to corner. I took the middle.
T2 He turned in, then turned out to avoid sp before fire. I fired at ~8 did 33 damage 4 rein to shield
6 no internals. He fired 2 dis and 3 p1s for only 4 points to shield 5. I fired adds and 6p3s to thin the drone herd.
T3 and 4 we slow down and exchange fire doing few internals. At the end of turn 4 with me at 10, I am chasing him and he turns in late at 14. I feel with a down 3 shield I am happy closing . He fires on impulse 25 and does 23 to shield 6. I hold. I realize I am not getting range 4, and fire on 26 for 7 internals. He keeps closing. The drones are too close on 31. I have to turn since I cant slip, and if i go str I eat 3 drones. If I turn right he fires at the down 3 shield if he slips out. if I turn left he gets the 3 box 6 shield he just hurt. and i cant fire back until imp 2 while he can fire on 1. I runed so he could hit the down rear shield.
T5 he hit with all 4 ol and did 44 damage. Took out the last drone rack (no add) the other trac, and a p1. I shot down 2 of 3 drones on 1. He comes in I tac and wait. I have to use remaining phasers on drones. He lands a sui. I take down his 4 shield with dis when he turns out. I end up getting range 1 on his down 6 shield on impulse 1 for a phaser hose, but he will blast through my rear shield and hurt me too. I figure i will do 30 to him and take 15 in, but the system crashed and I conceded rather than roll it out. I was doomed from imp 32 on turn 4

There were some epic HNR raids in there too, on both side.. I got a drn rack and p1 #4/5 in one transporter action and bill returned the favor with a tractor and 2xp3.. he got a disr the following turn as well iirc.
Thank you Geof, on to the next one!

What's up?
By Justin Royter (Metaldog) on Thursday, April 03, 2025 - 06:38 pm: Edit |
sapphire crown? I am guessing only those who have won a sapphire start can enter ??

The Sapphire Crown is the theoretical annual final where the 4 winners of the Sapphire Star tournaments for the year square off. There have been at least three of them so far. Maybe 4.

I think we were ready for a Crown Tourney 6 months ago. I think I would be playing in it - I think.

Stimpy just wants to beat me like a stepchild b/c I have not lost in sanctioned play in a bit and for whatever reason, prob b/c we have played each other like 1000+ times.. he wins like 7 out of 10 games we play.

Email Petrick with a copy to Jean about when to start the next Sapphire Star and Sapphire Crown. Remember that Steve Petrick has been on overseas military duty several times since November and I am harassing him to focus on revising Module K.
My understanding of Saphire Crown (I could be wrong; I am not involved in tournaments) is that when there are four different individuals who won a star who have not played in a crown Steve P sets of a crown. It's not an annual thing since sometimes someone wins two stars in one year. In theory if you win two star events in one year one of them gets you into the next crown and the other one gets you into the crown after that.
Let me see if I can expound. I am going make up data to illustrate the point...
Star 1 Anthony
Star 2 Bill
Star 3 Charlie
Star 4 Bill
Star 5 Doug
Crown: Anthony, Bill, Charlie, Doug (Bill has a seat in Crown 2)
Star 6 Anthony
Star 7 Ethan
Star 8 Bill
Star 9 Frank
Crown 2: Bill-4, Anthony-6, Ethan-7, Frank-9
Bill-8 reserves a seat in Crown 3
and so forth.
Every star gets you a seat in a future crown.
Sometimes a star winner is not available for the crown event; perhaps due to a family emergency. He can be replaced by the next star winner who doesn't already have a seat and reserve his seat for the next crown. You don't lose your claim to a crown seat if you have to pass for some reason but you could wait for the next one. If someone who earned a seat doesn't answer emails we'll go to the next star but the guy who didn't answer still has a claim on a future seat.
At least I think it works that way.

>>At least I think it works that way.>>
SVC, that is indeed how it has worked in the past.
When there were 4 winners, they would play a 2 round single elimination Championship game (i.e. A vs B and C vs D and then winners play the final).
This sometimes required more than 4 Sapphire Star tournaments, due to someone winning more than 1 in a period of 4-6 games (that happened at least once, where I won 2 Sapphire Stars in 3 or something).
There is a thread for the first Sapphire Crown (I won that one). I know at least one or two others happened, but they ended up just being recorded in other threads that I'm gonna see if I can find.
