Ok, so Sapphire Crown 2 happened in February 2023 (it is in the SS #12 thread). It had:

Captain Ron (GBS)
Mad Jack (KLI)
Kingzilla (FED)
Madjack (ORI)

(Madjack is probably actually Madman/Dana).

Ron's GBS won, beating Seth's g-rack FED in the final.

Ok, upon further research, there was:

Sapphire Crown 1 (I won as GRN) that ended in DEC 2020.

Sapphire Crown 2 (Ron won as GBS) that ended in Feb 2023.

Since then, there have been the following winners:

(SS 11 was won by Madman/Dana, who subbed into Sapphire Crown 2, as Metaldog was MIA at the time).

SS 12: CadetStimpy (GRN)
SS 13: Kingzilla (RKR)
SS 14: Spartan (ISC)
SS 15: Bakija (GRN)

SS 16: MadJack (GRN)
SS 17: CadetStimpy (GRN)
SS 18: Metaldog (ZIN)

So there should, theoretically be a Sapphire Crown 3 between Stimpy, Kingzilla, Spartan, and myself at this point.

So far, the way we have handled who has gotten into a Crown tourney was based upon getting 4 unique winners. If someone won more than one out of 4 we waited until someone new won one before having the Crown. Justin definitely missed out one a Crown as he wasn't around then. I have won 4 but won a couple few one after the other early on. There may be someone else in the same situation.

I am not lobbying either way for how it is handled. Whatever happens with it is fine with me.

These here are SVC's words related to the Crown tourney in the tourney rules -

Next year, the top finishers in the first few Sapphire Star Tournaments will be offered seats in the annual Sapphire Crown Fleet Captain's Tournament. The only way into the Sapphire Crown tournament is through a Sapphire Star tournament.

Sapphire crown would need four different players. If you win two Sapphire Star tournaments you only get one seat in the next Sapphire Crown. No wild cards, no one who didn't win, no byes.

You were invited to, and then missing for, Sapphire Crown #2 (for reasons unknown to me), so were replaced by Dana.

You are presumably one of the 4 players for a Sapphire Crown #4 (after Sapphire Crown #3 happens, with myself, Kingzilla, Spartan, and CadetStimpy) when there is a 4th winner (possibly from SS #19).

Peter - I agree you mostly said the same thing I did -I just didn't see your message, I am not trying to contradict anything.

What caught my attention is the idea that if you win a Sapphire you get a seat in a Crown (for each win). I am sure I have not gotten 4 seats in Crowns so far, I only played in 2 Crown's. So yay me if I get to play in more Crowns if that is the way it is going to go. Like I said, I don't care if it does not, but I won't be sad if it ends up that way

I'd also think maybe somebody else is in the same situation.

All good. Heh, yeah, the system has been:

Play SS tournaments until there are 4 unique winners. Then have a 4 player championship. Repeat.

For the first Sapphire Crown (#1), I won two of the first 5 SS tournaments. So at the end of SS #5, we had 4 unique winners (me, Bill/BS, Seth/Kingzilla, Jack/Madjack) and held Sapphire Crown #1

Starting with SS #6, the winners were #6 Andy/Droid, #7 Jack/Madjack, #8 Justin/Metaldog, #9 Ron/Captainron, #10 Seth/Kingzilla). So Sapphire Crown #2 was organized. Justin was unavailable for whatever reason, so we ended up waiting for Dana/Madman to win SS #11, so those were the top 4 for Crown #2.

There doesn't seem to have been a Crown #3 yet (I can't find any discussion of it and have no memory of participating in it), but there are 4 players for it (Stimpy, Kingzilla, Spartan, myself). And we are close to having enough for Crown #4 (currently Jack, Metaldog, Stimpy).

Andy won SS#6. I dunno why he didn't play Crown #2. He might have voluntarily sat it out?

At the time I said “Monday” we were expecting Petrick to be at work then. Unfortunately, he went into the hospital instead. At this point we are unsure when he can return to work. We need to replace him.

Unfortunately, having the winner judge the next game just does not work. Soon enough, a winner just refuses to do the job, sometimes without telling anyone he isn’t going to do it. Sometimes the winner simply doesn’t know what to do. Sometimes the winner is just not capable of doing it, and sometimes he deliberately does it wrong.

I will very soon be speaking with a senior staffer (whom i have spoken with before) about being paid to do some of Steve’s jobs, which might include this one. That won’t be worked out tonight, but it will be. If you would be interested in a permanent job as Sapphire Lord in exchange for maybe $25 per tournament, email me.

I have a question, that being: just exactly what needs to be done today? Do we need to set up a Sapphire Crown? Do we need to adjudicate a game? Do we need to set up a Sapphire Star? Do we need to do something else? Do we need to do several things? There are some things that Albert (Executive VP for Administrative Affairs) or I could do in short order. Do let me know.
