Hello Guys,

Thanks for playing in this tournament, and adjusting to the changes and bumps along the way that we all experienced. We did finish it, and I want to publish statistics and official scoreboard.

Also, I want to use that in a promotion campaign, since I see activity under SFB Facebook, and I think Paul Franz would want to promote this in other ways.

Regardless of which format the next iteration of the tournament is to be played, might it be an idea to consider adding the "lost empire" Paravians and Carnivons from Module C6 to the list of playable Alpha factions this time around?

Given how prominently "fast" drones featured in (well, seemingly took over) the first iteration of this tournament, it would be interesting to see how the Carnivons - who are designed to fight both the Kzintis and the Lyrans - would fare in such an environment.

Not least since heel nippers can be fired against four drone-sized targets in a single turn, and score more damage against such targets the faster the latter are going!

And, of course, seeing how a quantum wave torpedo-heavy task force pans out - or not - in the face of "fast" drones (and, for that matter, "fast" death bolts) or sabot plasma would itself be of interest.

Hello Guys,

Thanks for your patience. I'm just back from vacation, had some stuff to do in LA (see link below), and also had to support my parents a bit, but I'm back home in Tokyo now, and thinking about getting the next tournament moving. I'm thinking to design a brief survey for players to provide some structured feedback on the following points:

1. Tournament format : Single/Double Elimination, or Round Robin to qualify for the final.

2. Empires available : People have expressed a desire to play Andromedans, Paravians, FRAX, etc. Others are adamant about strict Alpha-quadrant and no crazies ...

3. Fleet size & composition : 500 BPV +/-, DNs, PFs, fighters, conjectural units, etc.

4. Fleet construction : Build your own (seems preferred), or fixed forces?

5. Map size & terrain : some ideas have been expressed under the "Compact" & "Expansive"

Anyway, I'll probably use survey monkey to get some people's opinions quantified, and use that data to quash any dissenters with democracy.

Thanks for the quick survey. I think we'll go with a turn limit, and there will be VP awarded for destroying / crippling / damaging units per normal scenario rules. In addition, I'm considering some additional ways to score points for "area control", but I'm not so much looking for feedback from players on that aspect.

I agree with Spartan.

Turn limit (perhaps a bit more for plasma races.) With VP for destroying/crippling/ damaging units.

I think the 500 BPV build Your own works well, With COs. DNs need 3 other ships. So go for it. Carriers need escorts If You can build a carrier group for 500 go for it. I think Mega fighters and PFs should be limited. Depending on Year. I did not like You have to buy a Size class 4 are limited size class 3. I know people did not just want a cruiser squadron battle.

Terrain can be a tough one. I am going with an approach battle or pinning battle in open space. Terrain can so Easly favor or hurt different forces.

We could have both players chose a terrain they would like from a list. Then roll die 1-2 player A gets their choice. 3-4 empty space or 5-6 player B choice. This could simulate the force commanders maneuvering for a preferred location.
