Things change, I remember when the D5F was armed with Plasma Fs. I think the Drogue is just an extension of the present Drone, but the term drone was already used.

By Shawn Gordon (Avrolancaster) on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 - 07:44 pm: Edit

I think a drogue refers to something you deploy that drags behind you, like a drogue chute in parachuting. From what I recall there were real world missiles launched from drogue-deployed launchers used on submarines. I don't think drogue refers to drone in any way.

By Mike West (Mjwest) on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 - 10:16 pm: Edit

I do not believe the Federation would use Pl-F drogues. They have very few of the Pl-F systems and I doubt they would waste any on disposable drogues.

By Jeff Anderson (Jga) on Thursday, August 21, 2025 - 01:23 am: Edit

While I agree with what appears to be the consensus (i.e.: 'No' on the Feds using the Plasma-F Drogue), I'd also quote one of my favorite adages of gaming; ask your opponent. If s/he's okay with it, go for it. :)

I ordered the new counter sheet for R4 there is a counter for the ISC the BLT, is it a counter for a Tug, or ligBB image?

Librarian101; BB, torpedo variant, Captain's Log 50.

Eddie,

Here are rules I think are applicable.

In (FP11.0) To keep pace, the plasma empires developed a method to accelerate the speed of their torpedoes by 25% in order to engage in combat more effectively.

Per (G34.352) Heavy Weapons drogues armed with plasma-F torpedoes on a ship which has the Sabot Refit (FP11.11) must also be upgraded to use sabot torpedoes ... If the ship has the sabot refit, it must pay this cost for each Heavy Weapons drogue just as it would have to pay the cost for each plasma-rack, plasma launch tube, or plasma-armed fighter ready rack.

Based on (FP11.0) I would argue since the Federation is not a "plasma empire" you would not be able upgrade the drogue as the Federation is not a plasma empire and those ships do not have a sabot refit.

By Eddie E Crutchfield (Librarian101) on Sunday, September 14, 2025 - 05:21 pm: Edit

first from the master ship book. (R2.R6A) PLASMA REFITS: Federation ships armed with
plasma-F torpedoes were refitted to use plasma carronades
(FP14.0) in Y175. They were also refitted to use plasma
sabots (FP11.0) beginning in Y180, although some ships did
not receive the sabot refit until Y181. These refits are not
shown on most SSDs (they will be added as the SSDs are
updated) and are found in Module R10.
Second the MSSB also states tha the Feds CANNOT use the plasma drogue, so that answers my question

Cross posted from discord: The SSD is the final arbiter for refits, yes? SSD says D7C gets K refit in Y169, but G3 says in Y175. Which is correct?

By Eddie E Crutchfield (Librarian101) on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 - 07:26 pm: Edit

Might want to check the date of issue, the most recent release might make a difference

Jonathan,

To piggy-back on Eddie Crutchfield's comment, I think you've got an out of date Basic Set. My copy of the Basic Set is dated 2011 and shows the D7 receiving the K Refit in Y 175. What's the date on your copy?

I cannot remember exactly where (probably the Questions On Ships thread), but I do recall reading on this topic before and that it was stated the K refits are available as early as Y169 (beginning mostly with Cruisers & Capital Ships). But that by Y175, virtually the entire Klingon fleet elements had the K refit installed.

By Nick Samaras (Koogie) on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 - 11:05 pm: Edit

Both dates are correct, see (R3.R2): "Some ships received their K-refits as early as Y169 (prior to the dates on the Master Ship Chart), and by Y175 all command ships had received it, as had perhaps half of the “direct combat” ships (standard warships, carriers, etc.). Virtually all direct-combat ships had it by Y180."

D7C, not D7. It’s in AM. Year is 2014. In case it matters, G3 is from 2009.

By Alan Trevor (Thyrm) on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 - 08:30 am: Edit

Ahh...

I misread your 5:22 PM post from 23 September.

By Alex Chobot (Alendrel) on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 - 11:08 am: Edit

The refit lines on the SSD data table list the earliest date the refit was available fleet-wide, not necessarily when it was historically available to a given class. That info is given in the refit section of a ship’s R-description. In the case of the D7C, (R3.31) indicates the K-refit was started for the class in Y169 and universal by Y175.

The D7L (R3.31A) isn’t a separate ship class, just an alternate designation the Klingons use instead of D7CK.

A question on the middle years destroyer for the Federation. Would it be available for the plus refit alone, without being upgraded to the 4 photon or the DDG, or the DDF versions.

By Dal Downing (Rambler) on Sunday, September 28, 2025 - 03:44 am: Edit

Yes DDs and DDMs can receive just the "+" refit. There was no rhyme or reason to applying the various refits.

Does anyone happen to have a spreadsheet to calculate BPV for a squadron, to include things line drone speed upgrades and such???

Can anyone tell were to find the SSd for the Old Heavy Cruiser, Master ship chart says CL 38, but the Fed Commander SSD is there for it no SFB SSD.

By A David Merritt (Adm) on Thursday, October 02, 2025 - 10:36 pm: Edit

It is page 118 in CL 38, the grey scale half of the page turns the Fed Com card into a SSD.

By Eddie E Crutchfield (Librarian101) on Thursday, October 02, 2025 - 10:44 pm: Edit

So no real SSD. Thanks

By Dal Downing (Rambler) on Friday, October 03, 2025 - 02:25 am: Edit

The Hybrid SSD are real SSDs just minus the Crawford Box. Everything else is there.

Are the freighters of the SFU like semi trucks we see on the freeways? Specifically, can they drop one cargo pod and attach to another and keep on moving? It would be more efficient that way. It could be that we simply have not seen a freighter without a cargo pod in the game.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, October 06, 2025 - 03:12 pm: Edit

That is how we have always said it works and we have published freighters without pods.
