Jack, I'm praying and pulling for you. Be well. We've lost too many people lately, so get better and stay alive for many more years.

Jack! Get well soon bud. I think I speak for all of us when I say it's a relief to hear from you again.

Hey Jack,

Are we planning to resume?

Best,
Geof

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 - 01:49 pm: Edit

I haven't given up on it. Maybe we can get it going again as the current Sapphire starts to wrap up. I will start to think about it and see where we are now. Thanks!

By Dana Madsen (Madman) on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 09:54 pm: Edit

The A side is wrapped up. I went 4-0.

So it's just the B side to complete.

Dana

Hey BS,

I'm done with Sapphire, maybe if you have time we can press on with AoA? I'll send an email.

New tournament coming here soon. We are working on it. Start thinking about your 2 favorite ships.

By Gregg Dieckhaus (Gdieck) on Tuesday, March 03, 2026 - 01:54 pm: Edit

NICE!

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Tuesday, March 03, 2026 - 06:08 pm: Edit

Ok here is the slimmed down idea to gauge interest. We would have 8 players. We would run 2 trees at once where every player would play a different ship in each tree. The winners of each tree would play each other in the final. I know Geof, Seth, and I will play for sure as we have discussed it.

Do we have 5 more who would be interested?

Note- this is not the signup window I just want to know we have 8 at least before doing any more work on this.

By Daniel Bitseff (Cadet_Stimpy) on Tuesday, March 03, 2026 - 06:42 pm: Edit

interested

how will I fly against myself in the final?

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Tuesday, March 03, 2026 - 07:05 pm: Edit

You won't. If you win both trees, guess who won!

By Geoffrey Clark (Spartan) on Tuesday, March 03, 2026 - 08:11 pm: Edit

I'm in! Finally I can fly at least one non-plasma ship!

By Stefan Lenfest (Himosan) on Wednesday, March 04, 2026 - 07:18 am: Edit

I'd play.

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Wednesday, March 04, 2026 - 10:05 am: Edit

I count 5. 3 more, this should be easy.

By Justin Royter (Metaldog) on Thursday, March 05, 2026 - 12:35 pm: Edit

sure.. sign me up.

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Thursday, March 05, 2026 - 01:37 pm: Edit

Six, two more to continue to gauge interest before sign-ups. Everyone who sees this who is interested say yay. You aren't signing up yet and don't have to later. I want to get a gauge if this is something we can get 8 players for at all first.

By Carl-Magnus Carlsson (Hardcore) on Thursday, March 05, 2026 - 05:29 pm: Edit

Count me in

By Geoffrey Clark (Spartan) on Thursday, March 05, 2026 - 11:57 pm: Edit

Eight is easy, already enough even though there was no real advertising or marketing, just people monitoring an older thread.

By Gregg Dieckhaus (Gdieck) on Sunday, March 08, 2026 - 12:12 pm: Edit

ACE OF ACES ONLINE TOURNAMENT

Online Star Fleet Battles Tournament

Overview

The Ace of Aces Tournament is an online dueling event designed to guarantee every participant at least two matches, each flown in a different ship.

The format uses two tournament trees:

• 8 players in the main draw
• Two brackets (Tree A and Tree B) running concurrently
• Each player flies a different ship in each tree

The winners of the two trees compete for the Ace of Aces Championship. The winner receives a small Ace of Aces Champion trophy.

Each round lasts three weeks. Players normally play two matches per round (one in each tree) until the tree finals.

Sign-Ups

Sign-ups remain open for one week. Players should sign up by posting in the Ace of Aces (AOA) tournament thread using the template below.

Secondary Ship (Tree B):

Example

Player Name: Jack Taylor
Call Sign: MadJack
Best Email Address: jtaylor0114@gmail.com
Primary Ship (Tree A): Federation
Secondary Ship (Tree B): Firehawk

Ship selections are public in the thread. Once ships are posted they are locked and cannot be changed.

Minimum Player Goal

The tournament requires 8 players.

The first 8 players to post a completed signup with ship selections in the AOA tournament thread will enter the tournament.

If fewer than 8 players register by the end of the initial sign-up period, the Tournament Director will have three additional days to recruit players before the bracket is finalized.

Once 8 players are confirmed the bracket will be created and the tournament will begin. Additional players may be placed on a standby list.

Tournament Communication

Most tournament communication will take place in the Ace of Aces (AOA) tournament thread.

Private communication with the Tournament Director may be sent to:

aoatourney@gmail.com

Players are encouraged to copy the Tournament Director on scheduling emails so progress can be monitored if needed.

Tournament Rules and Ships

All matches use the standard published tournament rules and currently sanctioned tournament ships.

Playtest or experimental ships are not allowed.

Any question regarding ship legality or rule interpretation will be decided by the Tournament Director.

Ship Selection

ShipDefault Tree
Primary ShipTree A
Secondary ShipTree B

Each player selects two different ships. Once ships are posted they cannot be changed.

Tree Assignment Adjustment

Primary ships normally appear in Tree A and secondary ships in Tree B.

However, when building the brackets the Tournament Director may adjust which ship a player uses in each tree if necessary to reduce early mirror matches (civil wars).

This adjustment only changes which ship the player flies in each tree. The two ships selected by the player do not change.

Tournament Format

The event uses an 8-player main draw.

Each player competes in both trees.

Each tree includes:

• Quarterfinals
• Semifinals
• Tree Final

Championship

The winners of Tree A and Tree B play the Ace of Aces Championship Match.

If the same player wins both trees they are declared the Ace of Aces Champion.

Match Scheduling

Each round lasts three weeks.

Players should schedule and begin games early in the round to ensure deadlines are met.

Scheduling Expectations

Players should contact their opponent within five days of the round beginning and offer multiple possible play times.

Players should be flexible regarding time zones. However, no one is expected to play in the middle of the night or at unreasonable hours.

If an opponent does not respond the Tournament Director may set a deadline or award a forfeit victory.

Games in Progress at the Deadline

If a match started before the round deadline the players may finish the game.

Players have three additional days to complete the game.

If it remains unfinished the Tournament Director may adjudicate the result.

If a match never started the Director may determine the outcome based on scheduling efforts and cooperation.

Player Withdrawal

If a player withdraws they will not be replaced. Their opponent advances to the next round.

Ranking points are awarded only if a battle was actually played and won.

Reporting Results

After a match is completed the winner should report the result in the Ace of Aces tournament thread.

Screenshots or battle summaries are welcome but not required.

Ace of Aces Ranking System

Players earn points based on the deepest round won in each tree.

The ladder may later be used for seeding tournaments, awarding first-round byes, and recognizing top competitors.

Ranking Points

Round WonPoints
Quarterfinal1
Semifinal2
Tree Final4

Champion Bonus

The Ace of Aces Champion receives an additional +8 Champion Bonus points.

Battle Requirement

Ranking points are awarded only for battles actually played and won.

Sportsmanship

Players are expected to conduct themselves respectfully.

Verbal abuse, harassment, or personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Disputes and Rulings

The Tournament Director resolves disputes.

If the Director is involved in a dispute another player will review the issue and make the ruling.

Final Note

Thank you to everyone giving this new tournament format a try. I hope you all enjoy the battles and the competition. Good luck to all captains, and good shooting.
