GU Comics was mocking Gleemax yesterday. The general feeling was that "Pinkbunnyfrufru" was more likely to work as a website name than Gleemax.

:P

Hey Tim,

Orion National Guard, how about Sinbad?

By Garth L. Getgen (Sgt_G) on Friday, August 24, 2007 - 07:57 am: Edit

Name for an Orion Battle Raider: "Five Four Nine".

If you're under 40 years old, you probably don't get it.

This isnt a request for a ship, just for a ship's name. As I havent seen it on the "Big list o ship names" I thought we should have a USS Alvin C. York.

Oh, sure Ryan.

Lajos Kossuth: major political figure and one of Hungary's national heroes, certainly worthy of a starship given past standards. Wikipedia is a valid source according to SVC but not a COMPLETE source, in the sense of being the only one you site, but it's a good starting point and I read a lot about Kossuth in grad school so I know this is valid stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lajos_Kossuth

By John Sickels (Johnsickels) on Saturday, February 09, 2008 - 09:29 pm: Edit

Paqual Paoli: introduction at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasquale_Paoli. National Hero of Corsica, another fighter for independence of his people and a pro-democracy (or at least republic) figure. Again, Wiki is just the starting point for further reading, but this is another guy I am familiar with from college.

Poniatowski shouldn't need too much of an intro as one of Napoleon's marshalls though he hasn't gotten a starship yet that I know of. Wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J%C3%B3zef_Antoni_Poniatowski

Nader Shah is the least-known to westerners but known to students of Middle East history and of great historical importance for Iran/Persia and that area, probalby greatest Persian military mind of the last thousand years. Wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nader_Shah

Warning: wikipedia isn't worth the electrons it's printed on according to some, and I've seen SVC indicate he's in that camp. It would be best to quote other sources.

By John Sickels (Johnsickels) on Saturday, February 09, 2008 - 11:53 pm: Edit

SVC has said that Wiki is OK as a starting point but NOT as a sole source. In any event all these are well-known historical figures and it is easy to find other sources which I will do.

Poniatowski: http://members.core.com/~gugalo/
Kossuth: http://hungaria.org/projects.php?projectid=7

These are online sources but there are plenty of books about these guys.
