That makes perfect sense. I never considered it from a money-making perspective.

But perhaps we COULD get away with a Survey ship named USS Selek? (Spock's assumed alias in TAS Yesteryear) a repair ship named USS Canarvin and a Hospital ship or Police Leader named USS Greene.

It was on the show/movie (and not already used in SFU)?
Then no, we are not going to bet the survival of the company on a ship name?

The road paved with good intentions and bad ideas... Sorry.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Thursday, November 12, 2015 - 03:08 am: Edit |
Nothing to be sorry for.
This is complex and esoteric.
Just ask yourself: would Paramount think we're were trying to sneak outside the limits of the license?
As for names of characters, if it's not already in SFU, it cannot be added.

Got a suggestion/request; USS Audie L Murphy, NCC 1670-1675 (NCA or, preferably, NCC).
By Will McCammon (Djdood) on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 - 10:35 pm: Edit |
Murphy is certainly notable.
However, NCA and NCC ships are consistently named for cities.
Proper person names usually get applied to frigates or war destroyers. The 400-series wartime frigates and 1200-series war destroyers are still pretty open.

Maybe an NCT for him.

I was thinking a commando DWG or something, given his service type and valor. Quite the soldier.

Friedrich Wilhelm von Seydlitz, Prussian cavalry commander under Frederick the Great, famed for actions at the battle of Rossbach during the Seven Years War.
Proposed ship: ADW-F111 Seydlitz. Fits cavalry theme for the class.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, November 04, 2016 - 03:07 pm: Edit |
How did we miss Seydlitz? I'm shocked and astounded that he has never had a ship.
By John Sickels (Johnsickels) on Friday, November 04, 2016 - 03:14 pm: Edit |
Yeah, I double-checked it. No ship for Seydlitz. He would fit the cavalry theme for ADW, but maybe he is important enough for something larger? The name would fit for an NCL given the connection with the German WW1 battlecruiser.

They only built one prototype and we don't know the name of the ship. It was stripped of its scout equipment prior to returing to mothballs.
