Nexus #1 Is Released in PDF
NEXUS: The bond, link or tie existing between members of a group; a means of connection.
The word "nexus" doesn't come up in conversation very often. Its most common use is also its most dramatic: "the nexus of events," where great actions come together to form a point in history.
The first issue of Nexus, published in April-May 1982, is wide ranging. From the historical to the fantastic, there's something here for every taste. It is provocative; the feature article on role-playing by Eric Goldberg (designer of SPI's Dragonquest) will certainly raise a few eyebrows (perhaps a few people's blood pressure, as well). There is an entire section on the Star Fleet Universe. There are articles on strategies for Swordquest, background for Battlewagon, and information on Armor at Kursk. Reviews include Barbarian Prince, Intruder, Dragon Tiles, The Compleat Tavern, and Albion: Land of Faerie.
This PDF is provided by Amarillo Design Bureau, Inc. with the kind permission of Allen D. Eldridge. It includes ads and offers from 1982; these are no longer valid.

Captain's Log #45 Now Available from Multiple Sources
Things that happen once in a million years, those things are truly new wonders, unpredicted by scientists who thought they knew how the universe actually worked.
Join us for Captain's Log #45 and see what happens in a "Race to Confrontation." It is peacetime and four captains meet on a purely scientific mission to study a new stellar event. What could be simpler? What could possibly go wrong with four warlike captains who have faced combat too many times? Other stories focus on a Klingon police officer who is now a squire paladin and on Ketrick and his cat.
Captain's Log #45 includes fiction and information for all of our games including updates, new ships, information about the Kzintis, a history of the Seltorian ships, and new scenarios.
Star Fleet Battles: This game gains five new scenarios, information on mulakee, campaign updates to account for the Borak, Proposals Board, Ask Vanaxilth, Master Victory by Kerry Mullan, Nicozian Primer, Battlegroup and new ships (Q-ships, Kzinti police cutters, Tholian Home Galaxy ship variants, and Neo-Tholian Milky Way Galaxy variants).
Federation Commander: You will find two new scenarios and scout cruisers for the Federation, Kzintis, Vudar, and Tholians. Patrick Doyle wrote an article on drone tactics. There are also Command Notes by players.
Federation & Empire: This game has F&E Why, Tactical Notes, Q&A, and playtest materials for the Seltorians.
Starmada: Six ships are provided.
A Call to Arms: Star Fleet has playtest rules for scouts.
And there are still more articles: Ten Questions, Awards, Command the Future, Input Guide, Why, ADB Games You'll Never See, Background Questions, Galactic Conquest, Prime Directive (the Bi'sen), and six new special action cards for Star Fleet Battle Force.
Supports Federation Commander, Star Fleet Battles, Federation & Empire, Prime Directive, Star Fleet Battle Force, SFB Galactic Conquest, Starmada, A Call to Arms: Star Fleet, and Star Fleet Warlord.

Nexus #2 Is Released in PDF
He who travels changes only his skies, not his soul. -- Horace
Ever since the legendary Icarus took to the skies on his wax and feather wings, Man has desired to fly. And for nearly as long, he has wanted to expand that flight to the planets and the stars beyond. With that in mind, it is not surprising that the highly popular Starfire was featured in this issue.
Doubtless, Horace's quotation will still apply when Man changes not merely his skies but his planets. It seems that a part of the human soul is rooted in conflict; and so, when Man goes to the stars, warfare seems destined to follow. Thus, Starfire (and the Star Fleet Universe) deals with warfare.
Along with the focus on Starfire, there is a section on Star Fleet Battles (including a new scenario and information on Klingon battlecruisers) as well as reviews of various games and information on Armor at Kursk and Warsaw Pact.
This PDF is provided by Amarillo Design Bureau, Inc. with the kind permission of Allen D. Eldridge. It includes ads and offers from 1982; these are no longer valid.

Star Fleet Battles: Module S1 - Scenario Book #1 Is Now Available as a PDF
More than 50 Scenarios!
This exciting module for Star Fleet Battles adds 51 scenarios to the SFB game system. Scenarios are the meat and potatoes of the Star Fleet Universe, the place where history is told and battles are fought. Virtually all of the scenarios in this book are reprinted from the Commander's Edition; all of these were revised to meet the Captain's Edition rules. The layout of this PDF may vary slightly from the print edition as we went back to the old files and made the book searchable.
You will find general scenarios that happened regularly in many empires through the Alpha Octant. You may have to rendezvous with a repair ship that is under attack, raid a survey camp, destroy a pirate raider, or rescue a trapped freighter. Be alert for intruders on board your ship!
There are 31 historical scenarios including the Pleiades Turkey Shoot, The Cassini Incident, Strike at Rigel IV, Mutiny on the Demonslayer, and Border Incident. Discover the history of the Star Fleet Universe!
There are monsters here, too, from the alien artifacts Igneous and Death Probe to the Energy Monster and Arastoz. Can you defeat them?
How does a frigate captain become a cruiser captain? There is a frigate captain campaign included.
We have recreated the asteroid belt map in both B&W and color. These are both included.
You must have the SFB Basic Set to use this material. Some material may require other products, including Advanced Missions, Modules C1 and C2, Module J and Module K.

Nexus #3 Is Released in PDF
"The Greek heroes are ... treacherous and self-sacrificing, generous and greedy, vengeful and just, humorous and gloomy -- in other words human, and many times all too human."
Join us in 1982 when Nexus #3 was published. It focuses on the "new" Heroes of Olympus roleplaying game based on Greek mythology. Here you will find an Aegyptian extension to the game, as well as a who's who on the Argo.
Of course there is the Star Fleet Universe section where Ray Olesen's scenario "The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" is introduced. Richard Kerr also lets people know how to change the Klingon D7 and F5 minis to the KR and KF5R.
There is an article on roleplaying, another with modifications for Moon Base Clavius, and a final one with four high-tech additions for Starfire. You'll find reviews of Man, Myth and Magic; Swashbucklers; and Pirates & Plunder. There is also a look at the "new" world of computer gaming, focusing on Starweb.

Hex Map Pack #1 Is Available in PDF
This Hex Map Pack contains three maps in two different formats. One format is a single large PDF that can be taken to a professional printer and expanded to approximately 19.5" x 32.5". The other format is designed to be printed using a normal computer printer on six pieces of letter-sized cardstock and pieced together.
The maps are blank, but different color combinations. There is a low-toner version (white background with black lines that will go with the B&W version in the PDF version of Star Fleet Battles: Module S1), a deep space map (black background with white lines), and a blue one that is designed to match the blue asteroid map in Star Fleet Battles: Module S1. These maps may be used for Star Fleet Battles, Federation Commander, or any other hex-based game.
