Is there no way to use #2 and #4 to provide an avenue to meet the apparently desire for #5? Honestly, that would seem to be the easiest approach ...

Doing dice on Shapeways is a non-starter for several reasons.
1. The cost would be vastly higher.
2. Shapeways cannot do colored dots on dice of a different color.
3. The shapeways material won't stand up to the wear of rolling and shaking.

Custom dice have the issue that the PMMA injection molding equipment already exists and is fully paid for, and swapping an image for one of the pips is relatively simple.
It's like printing Legos. If all you need is a plastic cube with dots on it, you call Chessex, not Shapeways.

ADB Releases Ships for May!
On May 1, 2018, Amarillo Design Bureau completed its 12th wave of ships (54 in all, for over 700 available items) in its shop on Shapeways.
The Federation gains its Guided Weapons Dreadnought in both the "regular" and "Fed Classic" (smooth saucer) versions.
The Klingons aren't neglected. They get their E4 Escort, also known as the light frigate or corvette.
The Romulans add the MegaHawk Dreadnought, MegaHawk+ Dreadnought, SuperHawk-K Command Cruiser, SuperHawk-K+ Command Cruiser, RoyalHawk-K Command Cruiser, RoyalHawk-K+ Command Cruiser, K9R Dreadnought (obvious changes include a belly bird, scallops on the wings, and Romulan insignia), and K9R Dreadnought (smooth, with no belly bird, no scallops on the wings, and no Romulan insignia for easier application of decals). The "+" indicates it is a late-war design in the style of the Starline 2500 Romulan ships.
The Gorns get their Carnosaurus Destroyer, Carnosaurus+ Destroyer (refitted), Ceratosaurus Battle Destroyer, Ceratosaurus+ Battle Destroyer (refitted), and Pterodactyl Gunboat Flotilla. The flotilla includes the leader variant and a scout variant. Also included are a 3788 Scale and 3125 Scale gunboat that can be used as a "casual" gunboat that some ships carried. These small gunboats, unlike the Omni Scale gunboats, are designed to be glued to a ship and do not include a stand hole.
The Kzintis get their War Destroyer and 3788 Scale Dreadnought.
The Juggernaut fleet was built in another galaxy and sent to check us out. The Juggernaut Battleship is the largest of the ships and a deadly opponent.
The Lyrans and their wayward county of the Lyran Democratic Republic get their Manx Police Corvette.
The Hydrans gain their Buffalo Hunter War Destroyer, Rhino Hunter War Destroyer, Warrior Destroyer Leader, and Monarch Battleship.
The Moray Eel of Space makes its appearance in three stages of its life. The Young Moray Eel is about 2"; the Adult Moray Eel is about 3"; the Ancient Moray Eel is about 4".
Empires from the Omega Octant continue to have new additions. The Iridani Questors are introduced with their cruiser-sized Galleon-B and frigate-sized Yawl-B.

ADB Announces 1/285 Scale Release

We believe that the 285 Scale is a good one for people who want to use fighters or bombers for dogfights or shuttles for role-playing games. They will also be good display models for you to show off your favorite paint schemes. To give you a good selection, we are releasing 20 ships.
The Federation gains its F-15 "Eagle" Fighter, F-14 "Tomcat" Fighter, F-18 "Hornet" Fighter, and A-20 "Avenger" Heavy Fighter.
The Klingons enter with their Z-H "Zerhon" Heavy Fighter, Z-Y Fighter, and Z-1 "Zoran" Fighter.
The Romulans have their Gladiator-D Superiority Fighter, Tribune-D Heavy Fighter, and Gladiator-IIIK Assault Fighter.
The Hydrans have their Stinger-2 and Stinger-H fighters.
The Gorns get their G-12 "Chimera" Fast Fighter as well as both the G-18-K and G-18-KA "Serpent" fighters.
The Kzintis have their TAAS Fighter.
The Tholians are well represented with their Spider-II Fighter, Spider-V Fast Heavy Fighter, and Spider-H Bomber.
